When we say that 5 out of the 11 bottom payrolls in MLB are in the playoffs, although true, I think that is letting Nutting off the hook in a sense. No one is saying that you have to spend like the Dodgers, or even the Cardinals or Mariners, but you cannot consistently be in the bottom 3 in payroll. There's a 21 million dollar difference in opening day payroll between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The boys at North Shore 9 are saying that in order to add a significant bat this offseason, it's likely that we will have to trade an asset to offset the cost. Cherrington is the devil, but Nutting is the disease, and should never be let off the hook.
You often speak of the fans needing to show that they care about the team, and to take the team back. Billboards and rallies have also been mentioned. This thing needs a face. It wont get off of the ground without it. I donated to a GoFund me last night that was in your mentions, DK. I quickly donated without really looking into it. Since Sept 13th the guy only has $235 dollars, and only two donations (including mine) since 9/19. I am sure that I threw 25 dollars away, and although I am not worried about 25 dollars, I would donate $500-$1000 dollars if I knew this thing was legitimate. I would attend a scheduled rally without a doubt, if I knew that it was actually going to take place, and again, was legitimate. I would use multiple vacation days, and drive an hours for any rally, if it was legitimate. This needs a face.

Well the good news is that Nutting clearly can be pressured into cleaning house because that's how it happened in 2019. Remember he fired Clint Hurdle (the only one on the last regime who DIDN'T deserve to be fired) a matter of minutes before the last game of the season and he was set to leave it at that. It wasn't until social media went off and his father supposedly reamed him out for giving the family a bad name, that Nutting gave in and dismissed Neal Huntington.
....and the process went on so long that the Pirates entered free agency without a GM, and then when they finally brought in Cherington over Matt Arnold, Cherington continued the manager interviews set up by Huntington, THE GUY WHO JUST GOT FIRED. It was the most ridiculous house-cleaning I've ever witnessed and it shouldn't be forgotten. They proved themselves to be a joke right then if there was ever any doubt.

    Organize, speak out, protest《and also!》: $ DON'T ATTEND GAMES $ .
It has to be a TWO-PART solution. Otherwise, a very MIXED message will be communicated to the franchise, which will only weaken the COLLECTIVE stance of protesting Pirate fans everywhere. I'm certain of it-- nothing will change if even one key facet continues to remain the same (i.e. game attendance).

Why? He certainly doesn't sound excited to win. I understand doing the 'presidential speak' but come on. You are the boss. If you want another job you need to TRY to be successful. Regardless of payroll. I've stayed in before that this team has too many talented players that some things have not been unleashed yet. Question is why? Does he hate the business and just like the paycheck? Or is he narcissistic and thinks he's Einstein? I have seen gms and managers blow up after a loss that should have been in the bag. Tomlin for example. I'm a Browns fan but his guys and staff know their role and the expectations. I'm blaming Nutting for hiring morons and letting that guy hire incompetent people. Not payroll. He's not afraid to spend as long as it'll work. Gotta get some major league coaches. Not wannabes.

In the 50s and 60s they were Pittsburgh's team until the Steelers brought in Chas Noll. I know it's hard to believe. The radio was on during every game be it transistor or console. If you missed the game you grabbed the PG in the morning to look at the box score. Some away games were televised on our Black and White 3 station TV. Box seats set you back about $3.50 but you got to watch Clemente, Mazeroski, and company play the game they loved. It was a great time to grow up and support your team win or lose because you knew they were trying to win every single game regardless of the standings. I'm now like Maz, wanting to see them win one more time. It's tragic how this great 143 yr old franchise has been pissed away over the years by horrible ownership and worse front office managnent. Generations have grown up watching losing baseball and expecting nothing more. Pittsburgh is a very special place and deserves better.
