I use these videos K-5 as an activation strategy. It really teaches them how to read music. Thank you so much for taking the time to create these videos! My students and I love them!

The weight of the world is making it really hard to function as a teacher right now....I'm having a very hard time finding creative ways to make lessons (from a cart, without singing) engaging and meaningful for my students. Your videos have truly been a godsend these past few weeks. The kids LOVE them, and they're providing a truly valuable educational experience ..... From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Let me add on to the heaps of thanks of the hundreds of teachers here who have been using your play along videos to help reinforce rhythm reading skills! Your service has been greatly valued and we LOVE IT!! My students ask for again and again. I have been able to include my at home learners in a unique way and we started using them with our found sound unit, but now we keep using them on any instruments we can get our hands on!

SC music teacher here, teaching on a cart and we aren’t allowed to sing AT ALL. Your rhythm videos have been EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for! And the added touch of the conducting model is just outstanding! This year is so challenging in so many ways because we just weren’t trained to teach music without singing. It’s like telling a football coach to have a game without passing the ball. Singing is FUNDAMENTAL to what we do!! Anyway, I digress...My 1st and 2nd graders are expert rhythm sight readers at this point and your videos are engaging and at the right tempo with a strong steady beat that helps keep them moving. Keep up the awesome work. The community of music teachers appreciates you so much!

Thank you so much Rebecca. I'm glad to know that my videos have been helpful to you. I put a lot of thought into what tempo the play alongs should be before making them, so I counted rhythms to myself at what I thought would be a good speed. It ended up being 88BPM.

@@susanhembree9638 any kind of singing has been discouraged by the Admin. But I have a feeling they hum if I happen to do a lesson that has a singing song like the Native Am lullaby I am doing, Ho Ho Watanay. The tune is almost monotone and hypnotic and I bet they hum or sing while we play our boomwhackers however, I do not encourage it because I have been told “no singing of any kind”. And I kind of like my job and so I comply even though I know a child playing on a playground can emit more droplets than a child singing a simple song with a mask on. But I comply. I do want them to develop their inner ear and being able to audiate is so crucial and humming a song with a mask on is less than ideal but essentially also so very harmless but what can I do? My hands are tied. We did do the One Voice Children’s Choir arrangement of the song “Good Job” in sign language and I’m pretty sure some were humming and when we went outside to do a video, 6ft apart w masks on, I bet they were singing. They loved that song and rocked it. My kids are singers and performers and I know this is just as hard on them as it is on me. Telling a child to not sing is like telling a bird to not chirp. A singing child is a happy child. Hoping all this “no singing” policy changes soon. If the high schools can play ALL their sports, why can’t we somehow come up with a way to sing????

This is amazing! My students love these. We use them as warm-ups when they come into class. They sing a long and even give the 1,2,3, go countdown. They are so looking forward to your Christmas play a long. Thank you, from an over worked music teacher that is trying to teach in person and also remote. It's a lot, and your videos have really helped my students enjoy music when they are only able to sit and not interact with each other.

This has helped me have an activity that I can do in class, but also something that is very accessible for my at home learners as well. THANK YOU!

My PreK students loved this song during class. You could tell they wanted their music teacher, Mr. Jakes, the whole time to teach it! I have no rhythm. We have the best music teacher! They thought you were him at first. This is a very fun song! I hope you make more of these songs. It was great to use to teach syllables. I liked that you used a box around the house for the drum too. I should have slowed it down like stated below. Please make one for Christmas and other school topics!!!

Hello from Malta (Europe), I am a regular school teacher (not so musical gifted) but it was fun to try the Halloween play along in class (through body percussion). Students loved it. Music teachers and such are not visiting our schools so we have to make do with what we can come up with ourselves. Thanksgiving is not a custom here but I will still try using it for the sake of Rhythm practice and exposure to other cultures. Best Regards!

I discovered your wonderful sessions recently and used the Halloween one with my elementary children's choir at church (on Zoom) - - 30 of us grooving along together! Loads of fun. I especially like that you have the interlude for uncertain rhythm readers to recover before going on to the next set. Also, the little teal blue bounding arrow is so helpful. Getting ready to start the Thanksgiving one next week! Thank you, Thank you! - Atlanta, GA

You are very welcome Karol! I designed the interludes specifically like that intentionally when I produced the song. 😁 Thanks for noticing. I've also found that having something for the students to track helps them not get ahead of the beat.

Classroom teacher in Centerville, OH. Just used this play along - which I love and one of my students said you were her music teacher in her last school. I was like no way - what a coincidence. Anyway Franchesca says HI.

I remember Francesca. I taught her a couple of years ago in FL. She and her sister went to the school I teach at and her Mom worked there. Let her know I say hi. 🙂
