I once played a guy for $5 a point. Chump change, right? After three consecutive wins, I gammoned him. He sent the board and men flying. End of that association when he didn't apologize, pick up the debris, OR pay off.
That is the most hysterically funny backgammon story! Imagine being a spectator in your own game! Clearly white has to work on his dice throwing skills. I think white's major blunder was saying at the beginning: "I should be careful not to gammon" - got his wish!
Hi Mochy I really enjoy your new voice-over style of videos, it's great to hear your expert thoughts about the games you have played - hopefully this one was a one-in-a-lifetime bad luck for you! There is a youtube channel which shows someone playing on galaxy with "eyetrack" software (video: [RO] - Eyetrack Table/Backgammon - Noroc 100%), it would be amazing to see you playing backgammon with this software and with voiceover!
Thanks Mochy, I only mean one match, I agree it's not necessary all the time! I'm very excited about your upcoming masterclass book, hopefully it comes in time for my birthday next year.
When watching these videos I pause the video just after the roll and mentally figure out what move I would make. I am happy when they do that move. But often they make a different move. I have so much to learn. Thank you Mochy for these videos.
@@bgmochy And I Mochy, wish I could speak better Japanese and play Backgammon at your level! An HONOR of a lifetime to receive a reply from you. Keep up the great work you do for this brilliant game.
Dear Mochy! You have touched very interesting topic! Everyone has his story of luck and unluck and you too! You are the best player no doubt but what i have seen in your match against Dirk Schieman was a pure luck
That is rough. I mean, just as a spectator I was cringing. I remember being down to my last checker, and my opponent closed out his board and went on to win. As much as I want to complain about that, I’ve also been in his position and won twice.
Sometimes I can see it. When someone has luck on his side. The only counterattack is for you to be lucky as well. But the good thing is that the luck doesn't last too much. It happened to me too and I cursed the game but then I get back to it and forgive those nasty dice.
It's crazy how you were definitely unlucky at the end, but even in the very beginning you were dancing on the 2 pt board with 6-6 when he had a blot as well to hit.
in poker exist 2 types of tilt...1 its just a standart tilt (kinda of RAGE, or real dissapointment) and another one which is bad enough is "quiet tilt" which is not so strong but it goes on for a loooong time and slowly destruct ur game. imo 1 type of tilt is not exist in bg (for players between 3-6PR is for sure) but second one...this is a DANGER!) when im in "quiet tilt" i lose my focus and do a FAST moves. Mochy-san, how do you ALWAYS in focus? how to overcome this stupid habit? do a fast moves in tilt.. which i got actually from playing against the computer... Mochy and Ueda its most focused players on earth and probably Thomas Kristensen, yeah
You should just focus on playing your best ? knowing that you have another game after this, and another and another, the luck will be canceled out in the end.
Backgammon is Risk vs Reward , at that point there was such a high gammon % that there was not enough reward to assume additional risk, even though the risk was small.
@@bgmochy Yes, but he took longer than 12 seconds on many moves and his clock time didn't decrease. It started at 22 seconds, then went to 21 seconds and was stuck there for the rest of the game. The clock wasn't working properly on his side. Not sure about your side as you didn't need to spend any time. If he only had 22 seconds on his clock he should have lost the match on time, considering the amount of time he took on some of the moves.
we all need luck to win and no one wants to lose. 90% of the matches are won by the player that has most luck, but you can win matches with 2 or 3 super Jokers.. Not moving means you have no choices.. means you can't make mistakes. :) Backgammon is a funny game and is a lot based on luck.. Good luck to all! But above match is an 11 pointer so match isnt lost ! Always remember its never over untill fat lady sings.

I so much love how polite you were in that situation. So many players get so mad as to call names and blame the dice. Thanks Mochy!
Thank you. After seeing so many things it will become nature to me.

I watched the video and indeed a very interesting new technology. However to me it is a bit distracting to have moving bubble all the time.

Very new subscriber.
Love this video.
The way you are handling such unlucky dice is exemplary.
I hope I can learn to be more like you

Sometimes those dice can be so cruel. I have learned alot about strategy as well watching your videos.

Good thinking. Most players only remember their hard luck story ;)
On BackgammonGalaxy it happens quite often for the "standard" account !
Sometimes I can see it.

But the good thing is that the luck doesn't last too much.

blimey!.....those dice!....aye caramba!
When it happens it looks so natural, almost like written in the script...
"Oops." I should try words like that instead of the words that I often use in that situation.
What was the final "Luck" number for both sides at the end of the match ?
That was like when a cpu on a phone app cranks up to you lose mode
Don't feel bad, it happens to me every day on extreme gammon, lmao
It's crazy how you were definitely unlucky at the end, but even in the very beginning you were dancing on the 2 pt board with 6-6 when he had a blot as well to hit.
I used to think I was the prize victim of so many 17-1 shots. I also used to think I was a halfway decent player. But alas.....
We are friends now
Thank you for the insight!

Hey Mochy, Go fan here! How about a special episode on Takemiya Masaki 9p?
XG3 plays 13/8 with that 41 for sure 😆
LOL!
Why was the best move with 3-1 at 5:30 to clear the 6-point?

Enjoy the 10% then Jurgen. thank you for watching !

The only move I question is white's 4-1 at the very start. When winning 4-0, playing conservatively makes sense, 13/8 should have been considered.
How come your opponent's clock's not going down? Was this a practice game or was the clock broken?
You have 12 seconds reserved on each move so if you make a move within 12 sec the time wont be decreased

it was showing something like 10.00 - 00:20 on the clock
