That’s so interesting about Visa’s stripes, I feel like Mastercard’s circles are soooo much more recognisable than the stripes, I would not realise it was visa if I just saw those stripes.
I think they used the Visa word and ditched the stripes. The word visa isn't great as well since it often gets mixed results with travel visas when searched.
@@gabrielebianchi8976 I think for current if removing Visa at least keep the border becuse going too simple can ruin a logo to where you can't tell if it is a symbol for the Ukraine/Russian war to donate to or is the actual Visa logo, you need either the words of going blank with just the blue and yellow colors or the white background with the thin blue edge.
Can we just all agree that, if Coca-Cola ever does this simplified change, everyone will riot? Cuz' they had the same font and logo for SOOOO long that it just will look wrong if it's any different.
As of 2006 this is true. Before 2006 the logo had thin white on the outside with line being red for white backgrounds then the rest as you see in the video.
Glad to see you back. Every time i see your videos im surprised at your subscriber count because your content and production quality rivals that of million+ sub channels.
Really shows Elon's success in driving Twitter into the ground when he changed from such a recognisable, simple yet iconic logo for Twitter to a completely shit one which ditches the entirety of the brand's identity.
I find it calming. It's also a breath of fresh air from the energetic youtuber voice. Definitely prefer this over Mr Beast's "We've gathered a MILLION lawyers to see which one defeats our allegations!"
When this video started I immediately thought of my design teacher in High School. He wanted us to design our own logos as the first task and he only gave us a single requirement: It must be easily identifiable from a distance. After we had designed our logos, he said we would redesign them over and over again during the following two years. At first we didn't believe him, but the next lesson he had for us, was pictograms and how different designs of what's just simple shapes, can easily confuse those who are supposed to read them. Guess who started redesigning their logos?
I think Orange would have been a more fitting example of the explanation given to the starsbucks logo; literally being a white rectangle in an orange square (used where space is at a premium or size is likely to be miniscule ex. in-browser icon), you can hardly make it simpler
The Nike logo comes, if I remember correctly, from the wings of the goddess Athena Nike, a way of representing the deity. In Athens there is a temple that contained a statue of the goddess and has this name Athena Nike. The original pronunciation is /NIKĖ/ not /NIKI/, but the correct pronunciation for the brand is /NÆKI/
If they wanna get rid of words, then couldn't they just replace it with symbols? (••••••) I feel like its color, orientation and stuff were really crucial parts of the design.
We got a new Adidas store opened just last month and I visited it today, and it only has the words "The Brand With Three Stripes" on the storefront. "Adidas" is simply nowhere to be found.
12:38 the new Formula 1 logo is the worst change! Some things just don't need to be changed like this. Also the removal of Fleetwood Mac's The Chain from the intro, I mean that was probably a licensing issue more than anything but it's missed. The new intro song is pretty generic.
Mercedies and ASICS/Onuska have done this very same thing, with Mercadies dropping the name below in 2000's due to the Bens coming and going from the brand all the time in this decade and ASICS on the shoes no longer using ASICS on them only the logo used in some form since 1966 Mexico Olympics.
I think if you put visa and orange symbol (a white rectangle on top of orange square) next to each other, I’d recognise orange but not visa. It looks too much like an Ukraine flag.

visas VISA logo is much more iconic and recognisable than the two stripes. If your logo is just a typeface but is extremely iconic then I dont see the need to change it. the VISA logo already works well as an app icon already since its a short word with a fat font. Shell's logo is still suffering growing pains since the height of their evocatively illustrated 1948 logo, imo. The way Starbucks is implied by any green circle is what they should aim for. Ditch the duo tone, the radiating lines, and the divet at the bottom. A simple angularly cropped circle with a square bottom in yellow will suffice.
Ik that people always like to hate on these rebrands and be like blah blah blah it sucks but they literally just don’t look good, everyone’s complaining but no one actually cares enough to do anything about it

yeah i imediatly thought the visa symbol without the words was just a countries flag instead of a credit card company

I like design from the 90s and 00s best, it was the richest versions of the logos.
Glad to see another one of these videos, it's really neat seeing all that a companies logo has gone through to be what it is today.
Visa isn’t going to get away with that new logo.
It's truly inspiring how a simple but iconic logo can really make companies stand out from the market. It's amazing. ❤

Another good reason to minimize to just a logo or symbol is international recognition without needing to do anything woth languages and dialects.
