- The downfall of Stewart Haas Racing is unfortunate. It is one that parallels the demise of Robert Yates Racing. Whether it was losing sponsors or losing out on talent like Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin. These two race teams have a lot in common.

SHR almost never had the same driver lineup two years in a row. That level of instability alone should've had people alarmed. It's been clear to everyone for the past 10 years that Harvick was carrying the team.
From growing up a RYR fan i feel this. Yates also missed on some prospects like tony stewart and kasey kahne. Think of how different it would have been to have one of those 2 as DJ and RR were aging out

Who gives a shit that SHR is folding up. If Tony isn’t interested anymore, I don’t want him representing Ford. He is doing the right thing. Get out and sell the charters to a team that actually gives a shit. I hope all of the charters go to Ford teams like RFK and Front Row. I’d love to see the Wood Brothers with another car. That would only make Penske a powerhouse. Not to mention Bad Brad. I hope he gets another charter and puts Berry or Gregson in the car.

Wood Brothers is not only remaining a single-car team, they're supposedly bumping out Harrison Burton (Chase Briscoe is the rumored replacement). Trackhouse needs at least one charter (for ZS) if not two (if they were to also bring up SVG from Xfinity). FRM has already confirmed they will add a third car next year. And Corey Heim is rumored to be coming up to Cup, and he would fit quite well in the expected third 23XI car
I watched your video a long time ago on the RYR collapse and last year I was drawing the parallels' with SHR I knew it was only a matter of time.
Really getting sick of people acting like SHR is dead because Ford wouldn't let them sign Kyle Larson. If that played any role, it was that Stewart being such an immature bitch about it and publicly shitting all over Ford cost SHR their status as Ford's special favored team.
Gene is pulling the plug because the team sucks and it's lost all their major sponsorship, meaning he's being asked to spend even more money as the results get worse. How is hiring Kyle Larson going to fix an issue with sponsors? The dude has won everything at Hendrick and Rick Hendrick, the savviest bastard in NASCAR, can't get sponsors for Larson in 90% of the races and has to slap his own car dealership logos over his car so it's not a plain white jabroni scheme.
The issue at SHR is Tony showing up to work at noon and leaving at 3 and wasting time on drag racing and his never going to be anything senior tour nonsense series. If he gave even half the effort to the team with his name on it that he gave to going to Krispy Kreme, a bunch of people wouldn't have lost their jobs.
5:52 You mentioned this, i was watching the 2002 New Hampshire race when Bill Weber announced that Rick Rudd throw a water bottle (a pinpoint accuracy lol) into a Yates engine employee because Rudd complained about the engine in the radio at Richmond night race

And what's even sadder about Yates Racing's downfall: that #28 is STILL in mothballs... I'd love to see that number come back with, say, Penske or RFK and be competitive like the 28 of Yates's golden era...
I see the downfall of SHR the same as DEI
It's similar, but not the same. Robert Yates was still heavily involved with his teams but just couldn't garner enough sponsorship to support the efforts. Tony Stewart was tasked with being the head of Stewart/Haas but took a walk to do other projects more important to him. Both he and Gene lost interest, although Gene wasn't involved day to day like Tony. Without a clear leader, the teams failed to gather funding, and that was the nail in the coffin.
Tony is just a lazy ass. Had a sugar daddy writing checks for him to be the boss and he decided drag racing and dopey senior league racing was more fun.
Larsson effectively killed two teams already... who's next? 🤔

Who is going to pay for any of that? It's never been anyone's money but Gene's. Tony's incompetence/laziness killed the team.

Honestly this is why I defend Gilliland and say that he wasn’t a bust. Yates was practically already on its last leg by the time he got there. Same for Kvapil.

The writing was kind of on the wall when the rumors started circling but it came as a shock they were shutting down completely I thought they would have sold at least a charter which sucks bc Gragson has been carrying most the season so far even despite some DNFs, Berry and Briscoe have started showing up as of late, and Preece is just eh I think he is one of the SHR drivers who doesn't get a Cup ride and he's better in the lower series.

Nascar sets the templates beginning of season teams have to abide by in the name of competition 1 win all three nascar divisions shows nascar wants ford out, most of sponsors and teams will be gone by end of season.
