Some details about the movie characters : Originally Alluri Sita Rama Raju, wasn't a tribal himself, he went into forests for helping tribals, actually used to wear Saffron clothing and used bow & arrows resembling Hindu god "RAM" (was also a sharp shooter) It was his approach to stand as a symbol of inspiration for tribals to revolt (known as Rampa Rebellion, with motto "Mande Rajyam" which translates to.. Ours is this kingdom) against British in Visakhapatnam agency. (Some believe that Alluri Rama Raju taking "Sanyas" (divine way of living) after death of his love Sita, was the reason for his Saffron attire). Sita really was his lover's name and after her death he changed his name from Alluri Rama Raju to Alluri Sita Rama Raju. Born in the West-Godavari (a district of present Indian state Andhra Pradesh), in a Telugu Kshatriya family to Alluri Venkata Rama Raju and his wife Suryanarayanamma, after his parents died (when he was 12) was raised by his uncle Rama krishnam Raju. He was a well educated, civilized man who felt that the tribals are the ones being suppressed the most by british, and went to forests and dedicated his entire life for helping them fight british, although wasn't a tribal himself. He used to do guerilla raids on British police stations (after informing & challenging them that he's going to come & attack and stop him if they can) and collect guns & weapons, using an army of armed tribals by training them. It's said that it costed more than a million even in those days, for the british to finally find and execute him. They killed Rama Raju unethically while he's unarmed, performing a morning Prayer. Komaram Bheem, a tribal himself from gond tribes of Adilabad (a district of the present Indian state "Telangana") is rumoured to be an extremely strong man, and to hunt a tiger by himself. He used to wear muslim disguises during his revolt against Nizam. He died fighting the Nizam's of Bhagyanagaram (Present day Hyderabad) In Telugu states (Andhra, Telangana) everyone knows these things, maybe not in other states. They were referred as Sri Ram and Bheemasen (since long back before the movie even existed !!) from their names and features (Rama Raju's- Saffron Attire, his lover's name is "Sita", went to forests and made an army using tribals, man of extreme commitment, Komaram Bheem- Physical strength, Crude attacking nature, Perseverance) being similar to characteristics of Lord Ram from Ramayanam and Bheem from Mahabharatam and out of the level of reverence they've achieved from people. Both left their homes almost in the same period and then returned after some time and started their revolutions against British and Nizam respectively. After returning home, Rama Raju started wearing Saffron clothing till the day he died fighting for tribals, and Bheem came back as an educated man and started his rebellion with motto.. Jal, Jangal, Jameen.. with translates to Water, Forest & Soil.. As no one has a clear idea about what happened to them in that period when they left, and what made them become revolutionaries.. the movie writer wrote a Fictional story that they met and became friends and Bheem was the one who gave Rama Raju a Saffron attire and that he got educated himself from Rama Raju, connecting everything that was remembered in telugu people hearts.. if we see carefully, we can see all these details used in the movie clearly.. The mythological references are used in bgms.. as these freedom fighters are actually revered by referring them as Lord Sri Rama and Bheemasen.. in many parts of Telugu states... Other details : -Also The Indian Flag used throughout the movie was the older Berlin Committee Flag (designed by Madame Bhikaji Cama, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Shyamji Krishna Varma) corresponding to the time period. (Current Indian flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya, also from Telugu land) -Rama Raju is also referred by people as "Manyam Dhora".. which translates to King/Chief of the Wild Forests and Komaram Bheem is praised as "Gondu Bebbuli".. which translates to Ferocious Tiger of Gond tribes. These names are also referred in the Original (Telugu) movie version on zee5. The one in Netflix is Hindi dubbed (bollywood) version. -The bike used by Bheem was the older world war version which were designed lightweight for men to lift and carry them when required. -Names of Freedom fighters shown in the rrr movie ending song & which indian state they belong to & their language : -Subhash Chandra Bose (state west bengal/ orissa, language Bengali) -Sardar Vallabhai Patel (state Gujarat, language Gujarati) -Kittur Rani Chennamma (state Karnataka, language kannada) -V.O.Chidambharam pillai (state Tamil nadu, language Tamil) -Bhagat Singh (state Punjab, language Punjabi) -Tanguturi Prakasam panthulu (also RRR Heroes Alluri SitaRama Raju & Komaram Bheem) (state Andhra, language Telugu) -Varma Pazhassi Raja (state Kerala, language malayalam) -Chatrapathi Sivaji (state Maharashtra, language Marathi)
You've articulated brilliantly everything I felt about this movie! I just saw it last night on the big screen (which it really should be seen on for full immersion) and I woke up today feeling I'd either just returned from a month long stay in India or was coming down from an amazing drug trip! This movie is one of the most impressive works of populist entertainment I've seen in years! Great review!!!
So awesome you reviewed this. I saw this on Netflix and was so into it. Like sometimes it’s cool to be way over the top and not too serious. Hollywood should take note
I liked what you said about how setting up the world enhances the battle scenes, and I agree, RRR did it really well. Reminded me of how Seven Samurai approached its action sequences. I did struggle with a lot of RRR because of how surface level it was for a 3 hour run time, and a lot of technical choices didn’t work for me. But of course, I enjoyed it. I don’t know how anybody couldn’t really.
i would like to hear what u thought about the fire and water elements for each lead actor ..water can be calm and it can also be a tsunami..just like how bheem was depicted ..he is innocent but has immense strength when required..fire can destroy a building but it can also become small to light a candle..just how it was depicted in Ram's character ..he was fierce and was emotional during the beating sequence of bheem
Of course with the type of movies you usually recommend, I never expected this but I'm so glad you spoke about it. Personally, not the biggest fan of the movie, I was a bit underwhelmed because most of Rajamouli's other films have more emotional resonance for me (like Eega or even Vikramarkudu, we don't need to even talk about Baahubali duology) but I can see the others' perspective. It really is a perfect entertainment package and even without the mythological dissections or historical articulations, you're going to have a heck of a good time. After all not all movies are meant for introspection. Save all that aside, my favorite movie reviewer talking about this movie!!
Yes rrr is rajamauli's worst though its a great movie but rajamauli has made movies ,like magadheera ,bahubali, eega and this fails to be upto mark of his previous films which engaged us so emotionally but rrr lacks soul and story on the benchmark rajamauli has created
Hi, I am a subscriber to your channel. I never ever thought that you would get to Indian cinema as well. It really means a lot to see people like you embrace a movie like RRR, which is not even a Hindi-language movie, get recognition. You are on point about everything in relation to the movie and Rajamouli hit his second jackpot after his Bahubali Duology which I recommend you check out as well. As for your observation about potentially jarring tonal shifts being natural, it's something Indian cinema is really good at. Pick up any language movie from India and they can shift from Sincere Drama to Song and Dance to Romantic Comedy to Thrilling Action. On paper it may seem like 5 or 6 movies at once but when you watch it, it feels like an experience which not even Hollywood can offer. The best example is the 1975 Hindi language classic named Sholay, which I would love to see you review as well.

This film is just a lot of fun. And there's merit in that. The film isn't anywhere near perfect, it's full of absurdity, the story is simple but well manipulated, and most of the characters are ridicule and cartoonish. Two top Indian suggestions. 1. Bahubali 1 and 2 (RRR director) Telugu version is original version Released in 2015 and 2017 Both available in Disney+ Fantasy War Drama If you cant find it you could watch tamil version as it is directed as a bilingual so tamil is also an original version. Both 1 and 2 (Tamil version) Available in Netflix. Actor: Prabhas, Rana, Thamanna, Anushka, nassara and Satyaraj Director:SS Rajamouli 2. Drishyam 1 and 2 ( malayalam language) Family crime thriller drama Release: 2013 and 2021 Part 1 available in Disney+ and part 2 in Amazon prime. Opt for original malayala version. It has been remade to tamil, hindi and telugu but original is malayalam one. Dir: Jeetu joseph Cast: Mohanlal and meena
I really love the fact that rajamauli sir directs and edit the scenes to match with music piece. It makes an amazing blend of music and visuals. It increases the impact of the whole scene.
@@HsenagNarawseramap no. The scene are directed first and then music is created. Or a snippet of already made music is used. But ssr sir let them create the piece and then directs according to it. He also does reshoots if a need arises during the editing to fit the scene to music more.
It's on every Netflix globally. If you don't see it, make sure you aeen't accessing via any vpn. Netflix blocks certain movies if it detects a potential vpn.
@@johnwerner69 That sucks! It's trending on Netflix in over 57 countries, so it's possible there are some countries which don't have it (I was under the impression from Netflix that it was available in ALL countries).
I somehow don't share the great praise this movie is getting. I suspect partly because this is a novelty to many western viewers. I on the other hand used to watch one Indian movie every week during my teens. There is no doubt that the leads are very charismatic, and it had some great scenes(my favourite were the dance scene in the party, and the prison break), but it doesn't offer a lot beside action. I have seen much better Indian movies recently.
Heyy, you are fan of The Godfather and Goodfellas, Please watch "Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2". It's one of the greatest movie to have come out of the Indian Cinema. The movies is set in the hinterlands of India spanning decades and generations, and the story is about the coal mafias and politicians. Trust me after watching this movie...you will have a whole new appreciation for the Indian cinema.I know rrr is alll about bravado, bromance and epicness but this is movie is on a different level and the acting in this movie is some of the best you will see in the whole wide world. You will not be disappointed that's for sure. Even, Martin Scorcese applauded this movie.
If you have entered into Indian films then please do watch Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur. Trust me, it will change your whole perspective of Indian Cinema totally and absolutely different.
i know this might not be your thing, but you may want to consider doing some movie reactions. it is fun for both parties. and lucrative. i'm sure you know all of this but dang girl. i dunno. you might be missing the party. maybe have a vote and see what your patreon peeps think. maybe start a second channel. i'm not proud to say this, but i literally blew most of my weekend watching and rewatching reactions to the epic fight scene in The Boys S3E6. i have not watched a single 'review' of the episode. i have no desire to. i really don't care what someone thinks about it. i already have my opinion. watching the pure reaction of someone seeing it for the first time is way more fun then hearing their thoughts after the fact
Damn as an Indian I'm so happy you're watching mainstream Indian Cinema.

Ohh my god. I am so excited to watch this. You reviewing this is very funny.
This is a surprise. A movie from India. As always a stellar in-depth, very personal heartfelt review. Thank you.
please watch bahubali 1& 2, KGF 1&2, eega, jersey (original telugu version), arjun reddy, dangal, rangasthalam....(don't watch dubbed versions, please watch in original versions)
Thanks for the telugu movies (tollywood), nice reaction and reviews thank you very much. ...India biggest film industry in India. ...
Watch Akhanda, Bahubali part1 &2 , KGF chapter1 & 2, Saaho, Radheshyam is about Love and Destiny.
I love how they manage the gay perspective between the two protagonist. Very sutile.
Two top Indian suggestions.
1. Bahubali 1 and 2 (RRR director)
Telugu version is original version
Released in 2015 and 2017
Both available in Disney+
Fantasy War Drama
If you cant find it you could watch tamil version as it is directed as a bilingual so tamil is also an original version. Both 1 and 2 (Tamil version) Available in Netflix.
Actor: Prabhas, Rana, Thamanna, Anushka, nassara and Satyaraj
Director:SS Rajamouli
2. Drishyam 1 and 2 ( malayalam language)
Family crime thriller drama
Release: 2013 and 2021
Part 1 available in Disney+ and part 2 in Amazon prime. Opt for original malayala version. It has been remade to tamil, hindi and telugu but original is malayalam one.
Dir: Jeetu joseph
Cast: Mohanlal and meena
At certain times , while watching it, it reminded me some of John Woo's work.
you should watch Churuli directed by Lijo
Next Indian movie you need to absolutely watch is Uri-The Surgical Strike.
Love from India thanks for your appreciation .
I really love the fact that rajamauli sir directs and edit the scenes to match with music piece. It makes an amazing blend of music and visuals. It increases the impact of the whole scene.
Isn’t that how everyone edits?
@@HsenagNarawseramap no. The scene are directed first and then music is created. Or a snippet of already made music is used. But ssr sir let them create the piece and then directs according to it. He also does reshoots if a need arises during the editing to fit the scene to music more.
RRR was so incredible, saw it yesterday and watched baahubali 1+2 today xD
Yes, that emotional investment was really amazing
The actress of fresh was first cast to play the white girl's role.
man i wish it was on netflix in my country as well
It's on every Netflix globally. If you don't see it, make sure you aeen't accessing via any vpn. Netflix blocks certain movies if it detects a potential vpn.
@@nsn5564 i ain't using any vpn and it still not here
@@johnwerner69 That sucks! It's trending on Netflix in over 57 countries, so it's possible there are some countries which don't have it (I was under the impression from Netflix that it was available in ALL countries).

Keep up the good work!
NTR as bheem intense acting. RRR is incredible movie. Don't miss watching this movie.
Wow never expected you to review an Indian movie. If you are interested might I suggest "Katha"(1982) and "Ardh Satya"(1983)
Not a Bollywood film
Not bollywood.
This is a pleasant surprise!! Thanks for your review. Hope you watch other Indian movies and review them
no american no western influence my sister, do u know indian literary, theatre, music
During the flag scene, I was legit chanting "U! S! A!" at the screen.
I love your conclusions. Greetings from Argentina.
I think this video will blow up as many people will watch it in india lol
Yes, I knew it that you have fun while watching RRR.
I agree wholeheartedly . Gangs Of Wasseypur deserves to be mentioned along side Goodfellas, City Of God, Scarface, La Haine, etc.
I can vouch for this. It's a very realistic view
Fun fact: Kashyap, the director got a letter of appreciation from Martin Scorsese, his idol for the film
Can you review baz luhrman elvis
what genre of movies you watch?
Glad you enjoyed this.. there are many more good films if you are willing to explore in Indian cinema.
You should invest in a teleprompter. They aren't very expensive.
i know this might not be your thing, but you may want to consider doing some movie reactions. it is fun for both parties. and lucrative. i'm sure you know all of this but dang girl. i dunno. you might be missing the party. maybe have a vote and see what your patreon peeps think. maybe start a second channel. i'm not proud to say this, but i literally blew most of my weekend watching and rewatching reactions to the epic fight scene in The Boys S3E6. i have not watched a single 'review' of the episode. i have no desire to. i really don't care what someone thinks about it. i already have my opinion. watching the pure reaction of someone seeing it for the first time is way more fun then hearing their thoughts after the fact
Thanks to recognize one of the masterpiece movie
Bruhhh this was not at all expected
Watch Baahubali (1 + 2) and Magadheera from same director
