- Over the last couple months, I've seen frequent reports of NS 7140, which is an un-rebuilt GP60 painted in the old Norfolk Southern Operational Lifesaver campaign scheme. I've also seen reports of NS 5194, which is a GP38-2 high hood. Both locomotives have been alternating between yard power in Sharonville, and locals T02 and T97. On January 2, I got up early in search for NS T02, which I was hopeful would have the GP60 OLS. I finally found the local on the New Castle District, but the high hood was on it, which was a welcome surprise.
Later that evening, I decided to try my luck and waited for NS T97 in Lockland, OH to see what power it would have. When the train rounded the corner, I saw the reflection of a rusting side of the locomotive, and sure enough, NS 7140 was running the local long-hood forward. I beat the local to Ivorydale and caught them pulling into the yard. Enjoy!
