You’re welcome. AGR is a great option if you still want the benefits but not necessarily the early wake up, formations, etc. I’m not really sure how AD runs day to day
I hit 22 years AGR this past January and I’ll have 27 years overall in the Guard next month…..luckily I was able to stay on as AGR when I switched from enlisted to warrant five years ago - there’s a lot of ups and downs to AGR life, but it’s what you make of it……if you see an opportunity for promotion and progression, go for it - even if means you have to drive a little farther to work each day, the trade off in the end is worth it 💪🏻
I couldn’t agree with you more. The same happen to me but I was open to going back M-day had a position not been available after converting to Warrant.
Hi! Love how you made this video, I’m really considering joining the Army National Guard honestly and to also become an officer through that as well. Thinking about eventually applying for AGR
Hey Kayla! Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. What jobs are you considering and are you considering starting enlisted or commissioning through college?
Im happy I found your video. 💪🏿 A bit about me: Im prior service Navy (deployed twice) and National Guard (never deployed/just AT and Hurricane duty). About six years total. Now Im transitioning to The Reserves, and not only conflicted because I have high line scores (all over 103). I just need some advice on AGR Reserves or Active duty like both my bros Air Force and Army.
Hi!!! Happy you’re here and I’ll be happy to help in anyway. Do you have any specific questions? I’m not too familiar with AGR Reserves or AD but I have people in each branch. One thing I’ve heard about the reserves however though is that the opportunities are endless
Hi there, question. Can I join the guard as an officer? I’m graduating college this upcoming fall and I want to join the army as an officer, I know about OCS but don’t know how it works for the national guard. Thank you for your service
Aside from OCS which is an option to come in as an Officer, you can look into Direct Commissioning but it’s for specific specialty branches such as JAG (legal), Medical and a few others.
If you could briefly explain the difference between AGR and being a Federal Technician? Currently in the National Guard(88M) and looking to serve 20+🙏🏽
hey quick question, how does retirement work for AGR? a little confused. to my understanding potential of retirement after 20 years of active, but does the age 60 years of age come into play?
Thanks for keeping it real! I’m currently AD, but am researching AGR as a possibility for myself.

Do you as a AGR solider get 3:39 BAH
Yes I get BAH

Now when it comes to retirement. Is 20 AGR & and 20 active the same?

@@iamleahmarie hey! I’m considering using my bachelors degree and commissioning to become an officer! Possibly in admin or intelligence
Those are both great fields!! That’s a good idea to come in as an officer. I’m in admin and I love my job.
24 years retired active duty. I couldn't go reserve our guard. Active was the life for me.
Thank you for your service!
You are an inspiration to the world
Thank you !

Also Dual- Service, Federal Technician Jobs are hidden gems.
I agree. I have a few friends that are techs in the guard.
I just turned 43 wanted to join what is the age standard limit?
I believe it’s 42

There’s a few things on this such as pay, medical insurance, allowances, promotions, etc. I will make a video on it .
I just need them to find somewhere a little closer to home for me 😀
lol! I feel that !

That is correct 20 years active. You will need an ETP to stay past age 60
So you can't just start out as Active Guard Reserve? I definitely need all of the benefits
No you will have to apply for an AGR job.
What's your MOS if you don't mind me asking? There's a milper out now for 255 and 920 series that I'm thinking of dropping a packet
Hi my MOS is 420A. What MOS are you considering ?
@@iamleahmarie I'm considering 270A, considering im a 36B. However, I'd have to go on the AC side. No milpers for 270A for AGR at the moment.
Oh ok that’s understandable.
How much experience do you need to go warrant in Supply?
According to recruiting.army.mil/ISO/AWOR/920A/ you need 5 years.
Do you have to still do rotations?
Are you referring to deployments or duty stations?
@@iamleahmariedeployments every 3 years
Camera set up?
I got you.
Do you get BAH when in AGR?
Yes you do
How hard is it to get AGR position?
Also will va disability affect that ?
It took me a few interviews but by then, I had volunteered with many different departments so my work ethic was known.
how long did it take you to become AGR ?
I was in for 7 years before I became AGR. I was on Active Orders at the time and was told that I should apply for a job that was opening and I did.
@@iamleahmarie Were you WO in those 7 years or switch to WO after AGR
@@khaliarolle9404 no I was enlisted. I came in as an E-1 and AGR 8 years later. At that time I was an E-5 and went WO a little over 2 years as an E-6
