In the true spirit of the podcast I meant to comment yesterday to say how much fun it was recording with Peachy, Pat and Geoff (because it was a blast, and I loved it)... but then I got distracted and I've only just realised I didn't actually do that.
On brand.
Great to see you repping Ignea! I'm friends with the lead singer and keyboardist/composer so they're close to my heart. What a top band! 🤘🇺🇦
saw your comments on your dread mob at 2:15:00 . if you're ever feeling really excessive a Blood Angels army can take 27 without legends units for just under 5000pts
It was a pleasure to have you on, you’ve been on the list for a while, I’m glad it got there in the end. - Geoff
I first thought that the sword legged Garant was based on the Shiv demons from the old Computer Game The Suffering. The monster designs from that is right up your alley.
Did you any the guitars? That Schecter SLS Elite is a killer.
The man. The myth. The Girth.
The Girth is my wrestling name
@@Kirioth It doesn't matter what your name is!
"Do Kirioths Dream of Horrific Sheep" - the title for this episode. Great chat as always!
Awesome to see Kirioth on the show! A great voice in the community and really fun to see him in a different format chatting away to you lovely gents 👍❤
Thanks, it was an absolute blast having him on
You're too kind
Only half way in, but it is an amazing conversation already. Love that Pat‘s discovery of Kirioth was basically my own 😆
Nice shirt Kirioth, @IgneaBand are awesome 🤘
Kirioth! Been a fan since the Dawn of War playthrough all those years ago
Interview with Mrs Peachy please. Or a how to wind up your geek of a partner video, would be a grand old time. Also loving this one so far, will be checking this fella out once I've finished this vid
Girth Gang, unite. My two favourite hobby channels finally combine.
Whoop whoop!
I was wondering how long it would take for a girth based comment to appear

I'd love to see the chaos of a Valrak episode. An Adeptus Ridiculous episode would also be grand if they ever made the pilgrimage to the Holy Land
And Mordian glory
I've been playing Warhammer since 2nd Edition.. and my legendary moment, that my friends all still reminisce on, was my old Black Templar Neophytes I referred to lovingly as 'body bags' ended up beating Mephiston in hand to hand.
Wow, about time kirioth was on here, love his work with kitbashes. Also, Owen Jackson was a great player in our club, the Enfield rifles game club, gave me a fair few thrashings with his sylvaneth and I beat him a few times with fyreslayers, good to hear he's still out playing as he was a great teacher
THE Owen Jackson?!
Another great show, thank you, gents, and with all that girth 4 hour show, bring it on
Kiri, known for getting sidetracked, on Sidetracked and it's 2 1/2 hrs?! This is gonna be good.
A match made in editing hell. Or heaven. Same thing really!
I've also got Aphantasia and the app Impcat has been a godsend to my painting. Being able to actually see how a model will look when I can't picture it in my head is incredibly useful.
Cool to hear about a fellow hobbyist that has it as well. Some people like to assume that people with Aphantasia are less creative and I think Kirioth is a clear example of how that isn't the case!
Regarding dreams, for myself I can remember most of my dreams briefly but they fade fast, only a handful stick in my memory. The weird thing about dreams is that I could not tell you if I actually see them or just.. experience them I guess. Since I can't picture them after the fact I can't say if I'm actually seeing anything at the time. Memory is a weird thing.
Impcat looks super helpful, I'm really glad it was mentioned! I feel like Aphantasia isn't necessarily a barrier to creativity, it just means we end up with a different approach to get similar results, but on the surface of it I can totally see why there'd be the assumption of less creativity.
Yeaaaaahhhhhhh babyyyyyyyy the IRL Fireslayer has appeared! We love this man!
Cool haircolor Kirioth, you are truely a "mad" scientist and I love your builds. This was a great episode. 2,5 hours is long, but still I wished it would be even longer.
Got a great 2 and a half hours ahead of me I'm sure!
Just wanted to say it was a pleasure pottering around Warlord Games with Pat and Peachy this weekend, was awesome to see you both!
Dammit, I want to like this more than once. I could watch Kiri talk all day. Lovely video
Been following this legend since the beginning… total boss MrK ❤ keep up the amazing work
I've enjoyed watching Kirioth for years now. This was a cool suprise to see him appear as a guest.
awesome episode ladds, amazing talk, loved it!
also very cool to see multiple of my fav hobby channels collabing more and more!
Insane talent, another quality look at the hobby.
Love a bit of Kirioth, good vibes.
It finally happened!
Kirioth, finally! Almost thought he'd never make it to your podcast!
So many bribes, but it was worth it
I was really hoping you'd get Kirioth on one day. Looking forwards to watching this. :D
Great to hear you speaking to Kiri. Nice off the cuff conversation 👍
There's nothing wrong with publicly appealing for bits!
I've been appealing for guard vehicle accessory torsos for my plastic Mordian Iron Guard project. People laughed at how unlikely it would be, but I'm currently sitting on well over 130 guardsmen.
Now I just need to watch Peachy's guide on painting them on repeat until it's ingrained, and I'll maybe have the motivation to get started! 😂
Great chat! Also great to see some love for the Arvus Lighter. I love the way that thing looks. I painted one up for my brother when he got his pilot’s wings.
55:10 that is such a cool narrative point. A legit story could be written from that. Great stuff fellas.
Hellboy was good. it's under rated. more people should watch it.
This is the episode I've been waiting for 😁
great video, really enjoyed it
Good interview and ramble. I have Aphantasia myself and its always interesting to hear from others with it :)
It looks like your having fun, I wish I was there too, cheers
Watching a bunch of your videos lately and I absolutely love it! Keep going with your great (sidetracking) work. Also really curious of some Cities of Sigmar content.
My memorable legenedary moment was during 3rd/4th - single remaining Fenrisian Wolf caused a wound and killed a Seraphim, causing the rest of squad to rout and then chase them down to wipe them from the board.
Funny enough, i was on the hunt for some 'naked skeletons' for my night lords conversions and found Wargames Atlantic Skeletons - pretty much your old school basic plastic skeletons and one has fully posable arms and legs. Got three on a sprue for under £3 on ebay.
Great shout, thank you! Time to go hunting
19:00 Im imagining a squad of guardsman holding a bloodthirsters severed head in a victory photo, like the flag being raised at iwo jima.
Amazing!
Thats a proper diorama to make.. just 4-5 guards men hoisting a pike with skarbrand's head tied to the top, exactly like that flag
I mean someone has to make that now!
I volunteer you as tribute
I’ve got a suggestion. When getting people on who are bringing models in, it would be nice if you had photos/video up of the model as they are talking about it so we can appreciate it.
We’d love to that too and we’ll quite happily take donations for a new camera and macro lenses set up. 😉
OOooooooh finally, been waiting for this!
So happy to see two of my favourite channels come together. I enjoyable watch. Thank you
Kirioth is the reason I discovered Louise of masterclass (now Rogue Hobbies) since I didn’t have warhammer+
Wonderful podcast!
am a bit surprised to know you're not a visual thinker Kurioth - the conversions are so well done! But it makes me feel a bit better as I've always seen conversions/bitbashing as an organic process. And yeah all the bits are amazing. Sometiems I just sit down throw some bits out and challenge myself to build something. Definitely a "in the zone" stress free area
My wife has aphantasia, and she can dream. Apparently aphantasia does not affect the subconscious mind, only the conscious. She does struggle with creative hobbies though, so really interesting to hear this from a hobbyist!
Oh my god, I've only watched 10 minutes of this video and I love kirioth even more. My wife does not understand that I cannot picture things in my head and I do not dream. I thought I was such an oddball out
Statistically there aren't many of us but we're out there!
Shame we couldn’t really see the models - might be worth considering setting up a model camera and box somewhere
Great guest
Definitely, a model camera is sorely needed! So often they're looking at stuff we just can't see
I know about the Clark Kent effect, nobody in my work recognises me out of uniform
Great chat
1:57:33 omg I never thought of this somehow - Gaslands MicroMachines!! An entire track, markers and teams inside a Leman Russ!!!
I love when the channels I follow crossover its great.
Had to double check, but on the subject of long ranges, I think the Nemesis Quake Cannon takes it at a rather insane 480", that's 40 FEET!!
Another great show! I am at work, but I think I still have several boxes of the old skeleton warriors.
What an absolute legend 💪
55:00 that description sounds like that one type of beholder
This ep was so huge it took two evenings while I painted, what a pleasure!! Now I’m in the mood for kitbashing. Cheers all.
So cool to finally put a face to the Vehicle guy from the Adeptus Ridiculous podcasts!
Oh man, your discussion about winning and having fun around 18:00 is absolutely how I feel about Warhammer.
What I want is to field flamers. So many flamers. I don't care if it's effective against an army. I want to put them to the torch.
My two favourite channels 😮
Awesome, I think my undead models will enjoy some of this madness.
Leaks and rumours are great
Realms of Ruin is getting an army painter tool, very excited.
We need a video of Kirioth's pile of shame! 😆
Tank moving mini tanks lol . I have to do that . Plus 4 hours or more your my painting go too I need more episodes please lads
Listened to this putting my bed together, brilliant show as always guys
Bugger the hobby, I want more tales of Mrs Peach winding up Peachy 🤣
Hahaha! There’s a lot
Honestly feels like she's the Mrs Columbo of the show sometimes :P
@@thepaintingphase
If I remember right, they fired a deathstrike from nottingham to sydney
I think what was good about kit bashing in the 90s/00s is you could get the citadel catalogue make you're own guy from various models, so even little swaps made them individual. Also some units didn't have models for a long time so people would just come up with their own interpretation.
Loved my bits shopping days at Warhammer world.
love Kiri. as for the alien static grass I use all the different colours for my catachans, and jungle terrain. my squads are now color coded 🤣
Avengorii is awesome. I run Lauka Vai (converted from Lauka Vai + some Kruel boy thing with four legs), Vengorian Lord, 2x Terrorghiest, Zombie Dragon and a Giant in 2k. The giant has got spirit hosts on him, so it fits the 'dying sorta theme' and colour wise is horribly terrifying inspired by the Binding of Isaac game characters., so it's mainly painted in really dull pinks.
As for NMM it's always a challenge. If the model is smaller, I've found tricks of how you can manipulate it easier. I did NMM Galadhrim by spraying zandri dust, 1-2 agrax earthshades dependiong how it looked and little druchi violet in some areas to give little different tone variations. Drybrushing balor brown, drybrushing zameri desert, these two being very faintly drybrushing ubshanti bone and pallid wych chalk helps create the natural look. I did a whole warband of 12-15 warriors start to finish in 3 hours.
Spent so much money on a dark eldar x bioshock themed diorama for armies on parade...featuring wracks, scourges(little songbirds) harlequin mask's around + skitarii weapons, orlock gang to make a 'player', little sisters made from lotr stuff, stormfiend skaven to convert into big daddy's with help of greenstuff + talos bits, even got some scenery to do it all.
I've built 9 wracks and 4 scourges...
"our audience want it longer" deserves a t-shirt
One of the best 'they killed what moments' in a game I played that I remember, was three scouts taking down a Hive Tyrant from full health with some of the worst and best rolling of dice on either side I've ever seen.
This was also a good few editions ago as well, so they were in no business of pulling off such a feat. My mate I was playing was so annoyed. 😅
Amazing! I love these kind of stories, always fun to hear the little guy stuck it the man!……I mean xenos monstrosity
A lot of games have rules for off-board artillery because, well, the ranges are measured in kilometres; one of these is Heavy Gear which is small stompy robots. (Think the anime VOTOMS.) A couple decades ago one of the gaming stores in Edmonton got together with a store in Calgary (these are Alberta's two big cities, they're about 3 hours apart) and a store in Red Deer (which is a small city almost exactly in the middle) and had a big, multi-table, multi-day campaign, North versus South. All the individual battles were plotted on a hex map, so you knew how far apart they were... which meant I could lob indirect artillery fire at other games and *play* the off-board artillery. There were also rules for moving on the campaign map. Alas, I ended up not able to attend, but the organisers thought it was a great idea. Not nearly as much sill-fun and Kirioth's story, but it made me think of it.
Also: I also have trouble visualising, although I do have a "mind's ear" - I can remember and imagine what things sound like, I just struggle to *see* them. And yet somehow I've also ended up heavy into role-playing and GMing. I wonder if there's a connexion?
Next Nightmare Megagargant idea:
A sprue with legs.
This hit really hard. I played some of 3rd edition in HS. I ended up getting into wow, and got stuck playing it. Now that I am in the 30s I've been more drawn to playing 40k over anything else, and it's probably cause it involves more in person interactions, and I never really got to play much.
Awesome!
Yooo!!! This is gonna be a good one :D Two of my favourite 'warhammer' channels
That’s very kind of you to say 😍👍
love the vids... you need a roaming cam or somthing to show these models in nice detail for us viewers :D
Happy to take donations for a new camera. 😂🤣😉
2:09:10 ofc Franksteins monster would take pity on your feet, that's the entire point! he was made perfect, but because he didnt have a soul/remained dead behind the eyes, he was an outcast.
I’ll save this one for hobby time. But I cannot wait for the tangents.
GOOD LORD THE TANGENTS
Just watched that Hellboy daemon scene. Must have blocked it out, dont remember it at all. But its awsome. I think i might need to purged by the Inquisition now. Be for the best.
Tim Tam's are a fine biscuit, particularly since you can get them in Canada - not sure why they don't make it to the old country . . .
My name is Commander Ballard, and this is my favourite video on TH-cam..
Thank you Commander Ballard 🫡
Oh wow that was an unexpectedly relevant sidetrack to start - extremely similar for me; I only discovered aphantasia is a "thing" a year or two ago, and it blew my tiny dysfunctional mind.... I have no visualisation at all, and like Kirioth thought "picture it in your mind's eye" was a metaphor for "remember really hard".... Suddenly stuff like memory palaces and things was "oh, so normal people can actually "see" this, no wonder it never made sense to me"....
There are dozens of us, DOZENS!
@@Kirioth yeah it seems like it might be a couple of percent of people, most of whom never even knew that everyone else's brains don't work that way. It was a very odd feeling first discovering it....
Arvus Lighter is a grimdark minivan!
I cannot remember how I bumped into Kirioth on TH-cam. He just appeared. The algorithm got me in 2020/2021 or something. Haven't really seen any of his conversions either. Great stuff! Love them. Was thinking of picking up some of the saint decent stuff for turnip28.
Anyone recommend somewhere online where you can beg/ask/shout in the void for bits? I'm looking for a load of Sicarian heads and the empty Greatsword helmets (that came 2 per box).
Interesting Kurioth has no internal dialogue. It’s rare but suprisingly common at the same time.
Valrak vs Peachy celebrity warhammer boxing match when?
Hahaha! Well as long as I can bring armour and a sword I’m in 🤣 - Peach
Having met you and seen the height of you, I think it maybe fairer if it’s me and you, although unlike Peachy, I haven’t hit celebrity status yet - Geoff
Love the show, by far my favorite miniature podcast. But could you Maybe get a real close up camera/area so your guests can show their stuff to us? They often bring amazing things, but it’s hard to see. Love you guys.
It's in the works! When we move office we've got some awesome plans!
@@thepaintingphaseuntil that happens, could you take some photos and edit them on screen? You did something like that once and it was much better.
Ooooooh can’t wait!@@thepaintingphase
I'm sitting here painting ARC troopers for Legion with this as background noise and you talk about making videos as background noise while painting republic commandos for Legion >>
I've been SEEN apparently
Paint tiny lads on the sprue for less stress - spray-wash-drybrush little bit of detail.
Finally people who think like I do. I once made a spam army entirely of scouts. Such fun!
Something I thought about was taking the most time to kitbash and paint the model you want your opponent to fight. Then you paint your biggest threats with more basic paint jobs.
That way you can give yourself an edge before you even play the game 😂
Real ironic that one of the most creative hobbyists out there cant visualise stuff in his head.
My sister has it too, got a running joke how imagination is a checklist for her. Dog? 4 legs, tail, a head. Check, check - oh wait thats a horse.
Imagination being a checklist is a really apt way of describing it!
The workaround I have is to dump a bunch of parts that MIGHT work next to the kit that's forming the core of the kitbash and then hold stuff in place while muttering to myself like a lunatic.
This is genuinely the first time I have ever heard someone talk about Aphantasia, I do the exact same method of using Dawn of War 2 for my colour schemes, I remember having the same conversation to my friends about it who were gobsmacked that I couldn't picture stuff in my head. For me at least it's caused like, issues with my painting because I'll like have an idea of something, but then when it doesn't come out the way I'd like, it's hard to describe to people why I'm not happy with the results.
Honestly that must be so hard from a hobby perspective, but I’m also fascinated by it to, as I’m constantly imagining builds and colours etc. peachy
@@thepaintingphase It is quite hard in terms of hobby I will admit, even with just Creative processes in general, or like, say if I've played D&D or even more Narrative focused 40k, I've personally, at least recently had to start asking if it was possible for more descriptive details, mainly as to not feel as though I'm missing out on the same experience as the other people I'm playing with.
*Killed Abaddon as an Imperial Guard Officer* Reward: Killed by the Inquisition and turned into propaganda.
Just curious, what else, other than a roast, would you eat cauli cheese with?
