Funny that most people in the Tesla community know saying "Tesla Killer" is meant as a dog whistle to Musketeers that it's biased media lying, and that Tesla is actually better than the supposed "Tesla killer". As it turns out, most of the "Tesla Killer" headlines actually come from within the Tesla fan community and from EV journalists who typically have a favorable bias towards Tesla. Although, often times it's to make fun of other company's offerings. In this case, the M3 actually does beat the model 3 performance's numbers. Albeit, at a pretty hefty price premium. For example, a 1,000hp modified LS Turbo mustang goes 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds but did a quarter mile in 7.1 second. BMW M4 is $76k, Model S LR is $90k. LR used to be like $80k, but there was a price bump recently. Unfortunate, because the LR was a nice option for those looking for a $70k performance car. Now there's kind of a large gap where they make models priced at $40k, $50k, $56k, but then their next sedan jumps to $90k. Made more sense at the previous $80k price point.
Tesla needs to up its game with the Model 3 Performance. It used to handily beat untuned M3/4 in the quarter. With this 4 wheel drive model, it is a few tenths quicker in the quarter. The Model 3 P needs at least 50 more horsepower to regain it’s edge.

@@a.banana True but you forget the Model 3 Performance was squarely aimed at the BMW M3…from Elon himself. Price is a single consideration in the equation. As a package, price aside the M3 is superior…now we need that Plaid Model 3 damn it! A Model S vs BMW M3 just is not the right comparison no matter how close in price. BMW M3 vs Model 3 Performance is the right comparison! Hence why Brooks mentioned it as well.
I always thought it was a shame that Tesla used the "M3" moniker for their car; being that there's already a pretty snazzy car model/trim referred to as the m3.

@@delusion2987 that’s wrong, plaid actually loses out most of its power after 100mph. For example, a 1,000hp modified LS Turbo mustang goes 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds but did a quarter mile in 7.1 second. It doesn’t have instant torque but actually beats plaid by 50mph top speed, literally.

1,000hp Mustang: 2.5 seconds after roll out subtracted, 2.8 second realistically, quarter mile in 7.1 second 201mph/323kmh.
