Wow, the city was exceptionally empty! Probably not the best time of the day/week to make this kind of video, because most people were at work/school. The weather also doesn't seem encouraging for walks, but surely in the afternoon and evening the city would wake up. I don't know if you've heard, but Warsaw was almost completely destroyed during World War II. It was a punishment for the Warsaw Uprising in 1944; the Germans decided that the city should be liquidated and only remain as a transit station for the Wehrmacht. Over 80 percent of the buildings were leveled with bombs and flamethrowers. So, for example, the Old Town you visited, the castle, and all the old-looking, medieval/classical buildings are actually replicas completed a few decades ago, based on old paintings and architectural plans. That's also why Warsaw kind of looks like a patchwork-there are those rebuilt parts, there are some buildings that actually survived the war, and then there's plenty of empty space where there was no money/motivation to rebuild it, so you have either the Soviet blocks (cheap but not exactly the most beautiful) or the very modern glass skyscrapers (beautiful but not exactly fitting with the old parts of the city). That's probably why many people say that other cities in Poland are better to visit for purely tourist purposes, because they feel less chaotic. Greetings from Kraków!

I completely agree with the weather aspect. Are you the kind lady who sat next to me in the Warsaw Bus Station?
Also Thank you for teaching me something today. Next time I'll go to Krakow. Pinky Promise.
