This is making me wanna get back into my Minetest texture pack. I've already made a bunch of items on my OGA page, but now I'm feeling the itch to make some block textures, too.
Hey, I have noticed that your shadows update too often for no good reason and thus fps suffer. Well yeah, most of this stuff is still inefficient in Minetest. You may want to make a video or a short regarding cheaper shadow settings as a temporary solution until when it gets as fast as it should be: 1. find settingtypes.txt file in builtin folder 2. find shadow_update_frames 3. change 16 to 255(it's adjusting max allowed setting) 4. now if you had main menu open then this will take effect only after you restart the game or enter any world and then exit(basically enter main menu again) 5. now you can set shadow update frames to 255 So this is much cheaper, but it comes with a minor letdown: when you turn it takes forever to update shadows and they do not persist if you turn away. Great for screenshots, for videos maybe not so much, but hey, a good option to have, maybe 32 will be good enough in your case, who knows 255 is max possible, it will be 8 bits only even if you choose higher and set int 16 instead of int 8
Thanks for the tips :) But as of yesterday, I got a new powerful graphics card, and I'm running shadows on the high-setting at 60-100fps :D Hopefully these next videos will be much better
oof... immediately i notice stolen textures/models from macaws doors in the more decorations mod 0:33 ... thats upsetting :[ ...i really hope that either the devs got permission or are the same people who made macaws doors....
@@Moblox-ke3muI think yes, but GNU/Linux is recommended for hosting your server since it is lightweight and very well suited for servers, I think it will give the maximum performance to your server. I think you would need to be able to program in Lua for creating something for Minetest.
