As far as ROKU live channels its not always easy to find out what is coming on? you have to go through bells and whistles to pull upschedule on another screen. They have some good content on live chanels but I have not been able to figure out how they make any money when 90 percent of advertisements are promos for other live chanels on Roku.

Comcast offers their own alternative. Xfinity NOW internet. Supposed to be $30 a month with no contract. Sounds like a pain to switch to it from their regular internet service though. You have to essentially cancel your current service before you can start the cheaper one which is idiotic. Still, I much prefer having a hardline ISP. Satellite and 5G suck.

Too many pricing perks for new customers, but little if any for existing customers. Equipment rental costs climb every year. Not too mention all the extra fees. Finally they impose data caps on their internet service but only regionally. For Southern states they enforce the data caps, but no data caps in Northeast after the customers in the territory they purchased said no to data caps. After being a customer for nearly 20 years I jumped ship for Fiber and no data caps. Comcast doomed to sink and it’s their own fault.

One wrinkle to the Comcast story, many customers held on to cable for Bally’s Sports Network. Now that it’s blacked out, they are finally breaking away. Also, while Comcast may be in trouble, it is a lot more diverse than others. I don’t have a dog in this fight or live in an area that Comcast offers service and am well aware of how bad it can be. But its situation isn’t as dire as you think.

Comcast has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. I’m happy people are beginning to leave them. I once lived in a apartment complex where they screwed up the wiring and refused to fix it and several thousand people in this chain of apartments had issues with them. I also worked at a building location where they were supposed to be getting business class Internet and it turned out they were getting, a residential connection that was split into 10 different business locations. The bandwidth was not there. And this has been going on for five years before I discovered what was going on when I took on the job. It required one of their high-end technicians to come and confirm what we’ve been reporting, and they never fixed it. And they never backdated any of the billing.

When I took his old modem back to Comcast, they kept pushing him to do a "free trial" of their most expensive TV bundle. I told him no, because that was how they roped people into paying more after the trial. Then when we were about to leave, they tried to slam him onto the "free trial" anyway! Besides the fact I can't look at a schedule of the daily offerings before I sign up for Peacock, it's NBC taking all the minor sports off of the local OTA NBC channel and the cable channel "NBCSports", eliminating some and the others are secondary as Comcast/NBC rush towards financial armageddon by participating in bidding war for broadcast rights for high-profile stuff like football (college and pro); there's nothing that differentiates them from other broadcasters and streamers who are also fighting for football eyeballs, nothing that makes Peacock unique. I know they don't have the sports I want to watch, and I don't know what else is on it, so no reason to sign up for it.

that's a good question to ask to learn about what a monopoly actually is. a monopoly is a single provider in a single market. so a cable provider isn't a monopoly in a market that also includes fiber, satellite, streaming and broadcast tv.

I live between two major cities in Michigan and can't even get Fiber internet.
I can get AT&T 5G fixed wireless but since their cellphone service sucks in my area i was told not to bother.
It really does suck when I've been anxious awaiting for a faster new Internet then just the DSL speeds i get from AT&T.
I read Xfinity / Comcast is slowly rolling out their fiber optic internet.. but who knows when that will reach my area.
I tried Comcast a little over a year ago with their 1200 mpbs and it was a joke because I could barely get anything compared to AT&T DSL.. which turned out to be faster.
I'm pretty frustrated here by the Internet choices or lack there of.

Don’t disagree with everyone’s sentiments toward Comcast. They deserve every bit of it. However, my big question is do you really think we’re going to replace Comcast Internet anytime soon. I don’t see AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile Internet products being all that effective. It’s all about living close to the tower. So we live and die by proximity to the tower. I see a future of much higher cost in obtaining Internet service. That is my future bet.

I have six different premium streaming services and still save $70 per month, compared to having cable. I also have way more content to watch.
