I can definitely relate. I have a good full-time job and have been doing eBay part-time for over a year. It has paid for 3 of our children's braces and has helped us from having to pull from savings. My wife thought I was crazy too. At first, I had listed items tucked in boxes under the bed and in corners. I remember one early morning in particular, my wife knocked over her Yeti full of water and it ran under the bed and I just started frantically pulling things items out from under the bed, so the boxes didn't get wet 😂. She still gets cracked up thinking about it. Thankfully, I primarily work from home now and have an office with shelves to keep my listed items.
In the same boat too. I work from home. Recently just scored a position that doesn’t require me to be on the phones at all so I’m not as tied down to my desk at home anymore. But it’s way better pay and benefits. Only issue I’m having now is finding space to store everything. I’m thinking of possibly cleaning out my closet and seeing if I can do some sort of storage system in there
Give the playing cards to Goodwill. When my daughter was little, one of her favorite things to do was make card houses. She'd start in one spot in the living room and keep adding and she would make these elaborate structures. Then, she'd knock them all down and put it away until the next time. She was busy with that for hours. We had a big bucket full of hundreds of cards that were from discarded decks. So- they will get used if you give them to Goodwill. :)
An idea for all those wasted cards: Believe it or not, there are some scrapbookers (?) out there who collect individual cards. I don't know all the 411 on that and how it works, I've just seen them buy those in Ephemera shows on WN. So maybe you could do 1 listing with multiple options, depending on how much time that takes/how much you get per card. OR... you could use them as freebies in your packages! Just figure out some marketing words for "lucky card" and then sign it. Free insert that your customers may remember for next time. If it works for you and you run out - just throw more old used card decks into the pile for that - the ones that are too used to sell.
I really appreciate your honest titles. I get that content creators need titles that catch attention, but I like them to at least make sense with what's actually happening in the video, and yours always do. So a big "Thank You!" for that.

I have watched videos by several resellers who justify selling half empty bottles as new because “you can’t put used perfume back in a bottle”. We have sold partial bottles of perfume by total weight of product without issue, but understand your concern. I agree that an open bottle of perfume is not going to harm anybody, even if you use the tip of your finger on the end of the bottle most perfumes have alcohol in them so it would basically be disinfecting your finger lol. Reading the policy it states the perfume must come in the original bottle, one could argue it is new 1/3 full in original bottle. If you can sell cosmetic brushes used by a certain film industry in the Hollywood Hills that were “ thoroughly cleaned “ whatever that means… 1/3 of a bottle or 90% of a bottle of perfume seems much safer.😂 Thanks for expressing your opinion.

Funny about the garage sle ka-ching! I had a similar thing happen when I used fart sounds for my ex wife's ring tone. Great advice to the first question. I have a buddy who I share my eBay exploits with. He wants to jump into eBay reselling thinking it will replace a regular job and more. I keep telling him the same thing you advised to the first question, start part time and learn. It takes a while to learn enough to make it unless you have some great sources right up front.
Yes that's what I did with my first sales lol shoot I packed and sent it out the same day 😂. I do still send it out the same day or first thing in the morning, I'm still new. Thank you for all you share, it truly does help me ❤😊!

If people are returning things because they thought it would be bigger you might want to try putting a quarter in the last photo for scale. I have seen that in people’s photos before and I think it’s a great idea.
I started 24 years ago selling part time on online auctions and stores. However I never enjoyed reselling more than I liked my job. Also, I have a consultant business that I enjoy on the side with a much higher revenue an hour than I could ever make reselling. All that being said, I’ve not pursued reselling like I have as a home health registered nurse all these years of service. It truly depends on if you love what you do and which pays the best revenue in the long run ☺️😁☺️😊
I’ve never had an issue selling perfume. It’s easy to skirt around by listing as new and putting level in description ie 90%. Even the most reputable sellers are selling them.

@@Joe_Pace We don’t have sites for cross listing in Australia. I don’t have high volume, it’s every now and then when you’re lucky to find a big $$$ bottle for $2. Older discontinued has been good, also new & sealed Avon.
I have opportunities to hit multiple thrift stores and have made a couple of connections with storage locker buyers. So inventory is available. Time to list and ship are harder. Late night packing and early morning drop offs at the post office.

I had an incredible paying job that I was miserable at. While working, I spent a ton of extra time doing part time ebay that was paying off. January 1st 2022 I quit my job to go full time and I can confirm what was mentioned in a previous video that it is not as easier to find good products, list, sell, etc to keep up at a full time pace as it was part time. However, I have learned to adjust and wouldn’t go back to a normal job
After 5 years of selling cars at a dealership, I quit to start a detail shop from home. It went great until winter hit in MN. I jumped head first into ebay December 5th, 2016. The first 2 years were a learning curve. By year 3, I hit my stride. Now I'm, 8 years in and 8.2K products successfully sold on ebay, Multiple "big" deals bought and sold now in 2024, our store is moving right along and we are striving towards our goals. It's possible, it's not easy, but it's possible.
Nothing worse than the notification noise that isn’t a ChaChing😅 That question/problem noise makes me physically ill until I read it😂 almost always a low ball re-offer or a pre return complaint on something you already regret selling. I have started to learn certain categories to avoid because it attracts 13 year olds that want to know minute details on a 12 dollar item free shipping that cost 5 bucks at goodwill a year ago and you just want it gone 😂

I agree with staying part time being best for most people. I had been a full time reseller for years but it's just too much stress for me. I can make a few thousand a month working about 10 hours a week but it takes 50-60 hours a week for me to make twice as much so it's just not worth it to me anymore. My current job is easy and having that direct deposit every 2 weeks makes the reselling so much less stressful.
Vintage Perfume Sales: I now put in a disclaimer too, because I got a "doesn't smell correct" from a buyer of a Sealed Bottle sale, who wanted a return.

Started really selling parttime around 2011 was pretty much forced into full-time this past August when I was let go from my full-time job after 26 years because the company was downsizing. I am like Lonnie I don’t want to ever work for someone again, unless I absolutely have to.
Love the videos and learning alot watching you guys, even the boxing of the products. My question is what happens with the orders if you guys want to go on a vacation, say like for a week? You guys are a great team.
Basically you shut down. So lets say you do eBay and depending on how you sell, buyers might have 4 days to pay. That means before you leave on vacation you shut down 4 days before you leave. You make sure everything is shipped before you go and you still need cover customer service. Before all the smart phones shut down was two weeks of advance of a vacation. So if you planned a two week vacation you'd basically loose 5 weeks of sales. Two weeks in advance shut down, two weeks gone, a week for money start coming back in and use a Laptop towards customer service. I did that going to California back in the day and used the hotel phone to dial up 2400 baud modem in case support requests come in, had check twice a day.
At the end of this video I realized that Lonnie treats his youtube viewers just like his ebay customers, give the customer what they want like in ebay stores. I always want the video to show me the title subject at the beginning of the video
I feel like you have to have a bit of customer service experience to do EBay successfully. What do you think? At least know how to kiss a little behind. 😂 taking care of customers is always my first concern and believe it or not there’s an art to it. Love you both, you’re my favs.

I have sold spray perfume bottles that were not full without violating eBay’s cosmetics policy. Think of it like this: if I have a half full bottle of perfume, only half of it has been used, and trust me, I’m not going to make any attempt to sell that used portion-it’s probably not even possible. However, the portion remaining in the bottle is in new, never used condition. So ultimately, I’m not selling a half bottle of used perfume, but a half bottle of NEW perfume. I don’t think you can make the same argument with splash on perfume, because of backwash potential, but I think eBay is tolerant with spray perfumes because of the aforementioned reasoning.
@@WellnessWizdom I said it with humor mixed in, but with the core concept I was not kidding. I have sold spray perfume in bottles that weren’t full, and I would do it again. I think eBay allows for this loophole because with spray perfume neither the bottle nor the fluid comes into contact with the body. However, if eBay sent me a policy violation notice, I would not push it.
Question: if you are an analytical at all, do you happen to find a sweet spot for Impressions correlating to a lot more sales? what seems to be your number if you tend to see that happening? Usually at 3 Million my store JUMPS in sales. Thanks for your time.
I don't really look at the traffic graphs too often, I just don't find them actionable really. We are usually around 500k impression/day and I usually don't see much correlation between sales and impressions.
@@shedflips I tend to notice when i dip below 2.5 Million sales slow but when it creeps up to 3million and above we see a lot of traction along with stale listings moving as well. Might be worth a video to view one day then take a look and see a delist relist increase correlation to that potentially?
A job is stable. Reselling is not stable and its getting less and less stable and very harsh regulatory measures are looming right now in amending Trademark law. On the surface it appears to be addressing counterfeiting but reality is it amends Trademark law and that covers any merchandise not simply counterfeits.
@@shedflips Indeed and one thing many who jump out of the workplace neglect think of is forward employability. Life happens. One can get suspended selling, adverse life events that end up requiring one go back into the workplace. Can get away with that if young and have some accredited skill perhaps in need update. Once a person hits the 40+ year bracket and been selling online say 10 years well... Most become very unemployable towards wage to support the lifestyle. A resume of I've been reselling online for 10 years might as well I sat in atop the garage for 10 years. I know many gone through this ending up in jobs they loathe making far less than if they'd stayed in what they were doing. There is much to consider going full-time online resale.
what do you think about best offers? i dont think it should take 24 hours to respond, i am a buyer not a seller so when i make an offer on something i need to know the answer soon so i know if i need to buy from a different seller but i can not move on until i get an answer so i do not end up buying 2.

I think so. A good bit of my time is spent on youtube that could be spent on listing and other reselling activities if we didn't have youtube. We do pretty decent on YT but nowhere near a full time living. Other channels might be different.
Don't know why I thought Kong products were not allowed to be resold. Guess not. Also the used perfume part does make sense because one can't be sure if the perfume has been tampered with. That puts not only the seller in a possible legal action problem, also the platform and even possible the manufacturer. So Covid topic aside, the rule still makes a lot of sense.
Keep in mind that not every perfume is filled to the very top, like anything else there is sometimes a bit of slack left in the bottle, so if it isn't full to the top, but maybe 95%, that could leave you some wiggle room. I get not wanting to take the risk of losing your store for a perfume sale though. Here's what I add every time I sell a vintage perfume. I also include them in the Vanity Collectibles category instead of the perfume category. "This is a vintage perfume and may have evaporated some within the package, due to age. I cannot guarantee that it still smells like you remember, as some older perfumes begin to lose their fragrance after a couple of years. This vintage item is meant to be a collectible and not for use." An ebay rep gave me the wording to use.

Perfume is not used while it is still in the bottle. Most people list it new % full.

However, the portion remaining in the bottle is in new, never used condition. So ultimately, I’m not selling a half bottle of used perfume, but a half bottle of NEW perfume. I don’t think you can make the same argument with splash on perfume, because of backwash potential, but I think eBay is tolerant with spray perfumes because of the aforementioned reasoning.

@@WellnessWizdom I said it with humor mixed in, but with the core concept I was not kidding. I have sold spray perfume in bottles that weren’t full, and I would do it again. I think eBay allows for this loophole because with spray perfume neither the bottle nor the fluid comes into contact with the body. However, if eBay sent me a policy violation notice, I would not push it.

Question: if you are an analytical at all, do you happen to find a sweet spot for Impressions correlating to a lot more sales? what seems to be your number if you tend to see that happening? Usually at 3 Million my store JUMPS in sales. Thanks for your time.
I don't really look at the traffic graphs too often, I just don't find them actionable really. We are usually around 500k impression/day and I usually don't see much correlation between sales and impressions.
@@shedflips I tend to notice when i dip below 2.5 Million sales slow but when it creeps up to 3million and above we see a lot of traction along with stale listings moving as well. Might be worth a video to view one day then take a look and see a delist relist increase correlation to that potentially?
A job is stable. Reselling is not stable and its getting less and less stable and very harsh regulatory measures are looming right now in amending Trademark law. On the surface it appears to be addressing counterfeiting but reality is it amends Trademark law and that covers any merchandise not simply counterfeits.
Jobs can definitely be more stable, thats for sure.
@@shedflips Indeed and one thing many who jump out of the workplace neglect think of is forward employability. Life happens. One can get suspended selling, adverse life events that end up requiring one go back into the workplace. Can get away with that if young and have some accredited skill perhaps in need update.
Once a person hits the 40+ year bracket and been selling online say 10 years well... Most become very unemployable towards wage to support the lifestyle. A resume of I've been reselling online for 10 years might as well I sat in atop the garage for 10 years. I know many gone through this ending up in jobs they loathe making far less than if they'd stayed in what they were doing.
There is much to consider going full-time online resale.
what do you think about best offers? i dont think it should take 24 hours to respond, i am a buyer not a seller so when i make an offer on something i need to know the answer soon so i know if i need to buy from a different seller but i can not move on until i get an answer so i do not end up buying 2.
We try to respond to offers quickly for that reason.

Do you think that you guys would be able to make it full time if you didn't have the extra revenue from TH-cam? I have no idea what TH-cam pays or how that works but I do know that some TH-camrs make a full time living just making videos.
I think so. A good bit of my time is spent on youtube that could be spent on listing and other reselling activities if we didn't have youtube. We do pretty decent on YT but nowhere near a full time living. Other channels might be different.
Don't know why I thought Kong products were not allowed to be resold. Guess not.
Also the used perfume part does make sense because one can't be sure if the perfume has been tampered with. That puts not only the seller in a possible legal action problem, also the platform and even possible the manufacturer. So Covid topic aside, the rule still makes a lot of sense.

You can sell perfumes under collections
Keep in mind that not every perfume is filled to the very top, like anything else there is sometimes a bit of slack left in the bottle, so if it isn't full to the top, but maybe 95%, that could leave you some wiggle room. I get not wanting to take the risk of losing your store for a perfume sale though.
Here's what I add every time I sell a vintage perfume. I also include them in the Vanity Collectibles category instead of the perfume category.
"This is a vintage perfume and may have evaporated
some within the package, due to age.
I cannot guarantee that it still smells like you remember,
as some older perfumes begin to lose their fragrance
after a couple of years.
This vintage item is meant to be a collectible and not for use."
