With the new transcript option on you tube and this videos concise dissection of a sundial they’ve made it almost idiot proof, I’m in!
I love it when format of YT lends it self to the creators allowing a first class way to create an instructional video .
Job well done creator and You Tube!

This kind of video is why I love this channel so much. Instead of just showing how to make it and to use it in a very superficial way you teached me how it workd. Amazing video, I'll surely try to make one even though it may be quite hard to orient it since I live on the southern hemisphere hahaha

Thank you! I wasn't planning on making one until I watched your video :-) Your work goes on, RIP, Mr. Campbell.

Very nice. My wife and one of my daughters have been sprucing up our back yard in the "gardening" sense. I'm thinking of making one of these (if I can make it pretty enough) to add back there so that I've made a "contribution." 🙂 The armillary design has some real potential for being attractive. I saw another design earlier that requires interaction - you turn a part to make the spot the sun makes shining through a little hole fall on a line - the line is drawn so that it accounts for the equation of time. That one also seemed to me like it could be quite pretty, and I think actually touching it would be fun.

I used to have one when I was a kid. It had a plastic gnomon and a small compass to orient north, but it had two issues with it. There wasn't anything to tell you how to adjust the gnomon where you were, and I live in the southern hemisphere and it was designed for the north.

I wonder if you could use a motor of some kind to actuate one angle of the dial to counteract 'the equation of time' offset.

exactly the information i sought to build an armillary. My paper model is a bit flimsy, and want to find something more sturdy.

We'll be using your instrux to put together a sun dial or two for our "Museum of Solar Cooking"--along with our solar panels and laundry line, we're trying t maximize our illustration of the power of sunlight--and this style sun dial will be perfect.

So if we draw some Gray binary code on the sundial and we can make a device to set the PC clock automatically even without Internet and NTP connection. When a sharp shadow is detected the signal is valid then the Gray code is decoded and the time determined.

You please try to know about Indian astrology and it's accuracy. It is such an ancient science about 5000 years old which is based on sun and nine planets.

why would i want to make something that contains errors that i need to look up some b/s equation to compensate for the errors? I would rather build something that is accurate and that works thanks, without making adjustments just like on other sun dial instruments that don't need corrections.

You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.
