After listening to Neko Case for 20 years, I finally got to see her live last night in Houston, and she was absolutely phenomenal!!! And her band and back-up singers were likewise incredible! Worth the wait to see her!
Eric Bachmann singing with her here. Looks like the band Crooked Fingers first sang this. Just wanna give credit to whoever created this wonderful tune.

Not quite as powerfully haunting as the original by Crooked Fingers, Neko Case and the guy in the duet still unload a beautiful, heartwrenching version of what really is a perfect song.

I think this really IS the definitive version of the song. I love how the 2 characters have different melodies/rhythms/povs… they only come together to say WHY DONT YOU LOVE ME”
I think it’s about the needs of others and how we can disregard them entirely. That works in summer (when things are easy)…but when the “cool waves” move in they fall apart, and never knowing why or learning that live is about the other person.
