I like how they are called dreamers. Considering what a "sleeper" is.

"Dreamer" is such a maddening euphemism, straight out of what George Carlin complained about. "Anchor baby" is now "dreamer". Cue the guilt trip.

Aw geez I personally know a few dreamers and I genuinely feel bad for them they're cool people tho they were brought here illegally it really wasn't their fault they were brought here when they were babies. Dude it was the parents not the kids I wish these things wouldn't happen I hope they don't deport these people lol how will they survive in a country they don't know. My friend who's in the DACA program works as a nurse and she pays her taxes and she can't even speak Spanish.

Beary; It is sad, yet her parents created the problem. They managed to survive and learn English in a Country they weren't born in so it is up to them to teach their child how to deal with the situation they forced on their Kid.

I have a dream to be a citizen of Switzerland. Can I just show up and start living there without doing anything? If I start having a hard time getting a job because I'm not a citizen and I don't speak German, French, Italian, or Romansh can I demand welfare there? Do you think they would just kick my ass out?
Then why in the world should anyone expect to be treated any different in the USA? It is asinine to to think that the USA can just abandon border enforcement and expect the country to be fine. You can have open borders or the welfare state, not both. That is the road to ruin.

He would be a horrible president. Ben, as always, misses the whole picture. Why 6 months?! Because it's time for the legislators' PRIMARIES. Trump can avoid all of the left's negatives. DACA was going to lose under challenge anyway. Congress will fail to get a law. They absolutely will. But legislators being primaried will likely lose their seats and McConnell and Paul Ryan may lose their leadership. The wins here are tremendous. And even if congress creates law for the president to sign, the voters will see who and what these legislators are. The people are angry and the fault and failure is 100% on the legislative swamp.

Agree there is no happy camp to be a part of and that the President will use this as leverage to get support for the wall, though I also agree this was a good decision federally by Trump. This should have been sorted out at the legislative level and put on the President's desk as a bill, not an executive overreach. Pros and cons of the act aside, it will be dealt with at the proper level.

It's simply not fair that my father had to work his ass off for my family so we could come here legally but people can just waltz in. I understand that the kids who moved here didn't have a choice but they're not American citizens or residents. I love legal immigration, it's what makes America great. Illegal immigration is another story.

You are right. You are not popular for believing what you do. Most Americans are not cold-hearted jerks. For me it is a matter of right or wrong, not legal vs illegal. If some kid came to the US at the age of 3 and is now 18 or 20, I can see NOTHING positive from deporting him or her. Would it make a difference if they had to do something in order to obtain citizenship?

It's like social security. I don't think it should exist, but if we get rid of it, we still need to respect those who've paid into it.

  • @TheGarratc
    @TheGarratc 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm not big on DACA at all, but keeping it in exchange for locking down the border would be a good trade if anyone actually went for it. The DACA people aren't really the problem outside of just wanting to stand on principle, long term border security would be more productive.

No, No, No, Don't repeat history. We did this "amnesty for a wall" deal already with Reagan and of course we got screwed. Frankly we already have a mandate to lock down the border. And the democrats and RINO's will do everything they can to prevent this. Even if you compromise with them, they have never kept their word when it comes to immigration and the border.

I was playing a game, and I got into an argument over mansplaining and the gender wage gap with a female friend of mine. I told her the word "mansplaining" was ironically sexist, and she told me I was wrong and that since I was a guy I don't know about female issues. Then she brought up the wage gap, and attempted to tell me women aren't equal and get paid less. To counter that I gave her examples as to why this was false, such as how women generally tend to work less hours, take more time off, go into lower paying fields, etc. She then called me an uninformed boy trying to talk about women's issues, and blocked me.

I personally think that all illegals should be removed, no matter when they came here. If they do not, it will only encourage others to do this again and again in hopes they too will be allowed in. If they leave now, allow them to get back into line legally and apply, but if they must be tracked down, then they should be blocked from ever applying for entering the US again.

I have a straight male friend who uses more beauty products than a lot of girls I know. They are products designed to highlight masculine comeliness. If I had a two year old boy who wanted to try putting on makeup, I'd probably take him to visit this friend so he could experience what it's like for a man to pay extra attention to personal grooming. If he enjoyed it, he could get some products of his own and form a morning routine. It would be healthy practice for when he's an adult, and it wouldn't confuse him about his gender identity. I feel very sorry for that eight year old who has been warped by his mother. No parent gets everything right, but this is scary.

Ronald Reagan gave amnesty in the 80's and the illegals increased far pass the normal amount within a decade. Amnesty doesnt solve an illegal issue. As a Mexican American who applied to get my Temp Visa in the EU, I know the process is long - but its the right example and measurement of integrity you want to build on. You can't do what's right, if you start with what's wrong. Sorry DACA kids, your parents example will have to be your learning lesson.

I got to disagree with my fellow Republicans on DACA. I've always viewed America as a place where anyone can make a better and more prosperous life for themselves. DACA helps the dreamers who have lived here all their lives and grew up with American culture stay where they belong. Why should someone who came here illegally at 5 - 10 years get deported 15-20 years later? America is their rightful home and the place they've grown to love.

Sir.Hemingsworth because they were illegal when they were 5-10. It doesn't change the fact they are illegal when they turn 20-25. If you murder someone when youre 40, 5 years later it doesnt mean you didnt murder Somebody. Its not their "rightful" home sadly. It would only be if their parents were citizens. If they came from Mexico, their rightful home is Mexico.

It's a crime to immigrate here illegally. You can't just do an illegal act, then drop a kid on American soil and guilt your way into staying. That's immoral and when immigration gets tougher, that's what everyone will do. Needs to be stopped or there's no point in the wall, deportation, reform.

      Kill Switch
Yes, undocumented immigration is illegal, but it's also very very different from a murder. If you were three years old and had no choice to come here illegally because of your parents, your rightful home is America. If you grew up your entire life speaking English and living in an American culture, your rightful home is America. Murder isn't even in the same realm as childhood illegal immigration when it comes to morality.
Seriously, comparing childhood illegal immigration to murder is such a bad counter argument.

Again, if you were born in Mexico then came here when you were only a few years old and live your entire childhood and adult life here, you're not Mexican, you're American. In these cases, it's closer to deporting an American child to somewhere they don't know or don't care nearly as much about.

"Anyone" can make a better place for himself? How about a BILLION 'anybody's?' This planet currently has nearly three TIMES as many dirt-poor humans as it did fifty years ago. Then, there were three billion people, and two billion were poor. Now, there are SEVEN billion, and almost SIX BILLION are poorer than Americans. How many of those six billion should be admitted? Fifteen percent? You just admitted a BILLION people. Can't happen.

Ben, a libertarian defends liberty, no matter what. We shouldn't accept entire groups of people because on the basis that they are good or bad for society. We defend free circulation of people because we think that liberty is always good, a value that needs no calculus to be defended.

Don't agree here Ben. Trump is not playing politics and expecting the legislative branch to do its job. That may be the harder route, but it's the right route. The executive branch is giving up power it might be able to use to play the system. That's not what we elected Trump to do...to be Obama 2.0.

I agree with everything you're saying about the child drag queen except that child services should've come to take him away. Sure the mom appears to be pretty messed up, but at least she's there and providing for and supporting the kid. I'm sure that growing up will be a very unique experience for the kid - he may even appreciate that his mom did this for him later, but child services agencies (at least in Hawaii) are stretched pretty thin with kids that don't have anyone sober or not physically abusive to care for them. Would love to hear you talk about this issue with someone who works in CPA.

Ben gets it wrong again. Trump doesn't want DACA. This is classic Trump trolling. He knows Congress will never get it passed. He's playing the media again. Ben falls for it every time.

Matthew M There is almost no shot. Congress will pass it. Can you imagine republicans going out to get reelected. With their only "accomplishment" passing DACA. They would be dead in the water.

I support the wall, because I think that the government should defend it's borders and control immigration (not block, just control). However, I also support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who are willing to go through the process, and have not committed any serious crimes outside of their initial crime of immigration. We are a nation founded on forgiveness, of people's past, people's choices, and people's status. We shouldn't aim for equality of outcome, but I don't see anything wrong with giving people tools to get their life back on track. Now if illegal immigrants don't want to go through the processes at this point, by all means deport them. While I support immigration control, the sad fact is that our control for the last few decades has been very lax. What this means is that a large amount of illegal immigrants are here, and families have been established. It's an unfortunate fact, and this reality must be acknowledged.

Not just to have points so you can say you accomplished something that you haven't done. Also who says that their "important points" are the same points I'll take away.
