SMOK TFV12 LEAKS from airflow (Element Vape). Solution in description.

- Bought SMOK TVF12 from Element Vape but it leaks a lot.
Possible Solution: I have come up with the solution. If you have the same problem then what you need to do is after you put the liquid in- you have to smoke it at-least 20-30 times and try to smoke it by keeping it straight. You might get a burning taste or lot of liquid in vapor but thats normal. After 30 vapes it should work fine.
Let me know if it works.
The actual solution is really simple and it has to do with creating proper vacuum inside the tank. Make sure you are using a liquid of at least 70 VG / 30 PG. After changing coils and each time you refill the tank make sure the airflow is closed (before refilling). Once you refill, turn the tank upside down, open the airflow and keep the tank upside down for 5 secs. Once you do those steps i can guarantee there will not be any leaking. No need to replace any o-rings, sealing pads etc...well unless they are in a bad condition. Before anyone tells me this does nt work i have to tell you that my TFV12 prince tank was leaking as well. Once i switched to a higer VG ratio and following the steps above, there is no single drop of liquid leaking....ever.
Closing the airflow while refilling is working for me. I'm curious why this advice isn't more prevalent.

Thank you so much!!! This has solved it for me. I just wish I had seen your post before I lost two thirds of a bottle of really expensive CBD liquid. I have 3 other mods/pod systems and none of them have a problem. I will never trust Smok again.

put a gasket around thr bottom of coil, above threads. screw coil into deack. make sure vacume seal is flush, clean, and tight. close air flow port. then screw into chimney. make sure u prime up coil before use. flip tank upside dwn and open air flow port. now atatch tank to mod and vape. school starts next month but this lessons on me.
I don't know if this is going to help, but my explanation to the leaking issue is the following:
The leaking is caused by a breaking of the vacuum inside the tank. The cotton in every tank along with the rubber o-rings is the seal to the outside of the tank.
Most leaking issues are caused by an improper placement of the white seal at the top of the tank, causing it to let air coming inside the juice chamber making an equal pressure inside and outside the tank.
Vaping (evaporating juice from the tank) causes a lower pressure inside the tank, but every time you open the lid to refill, the pressure equalizes.
IMHO leaking is not caused by mounting the tank parts too loose...

Always tighten the coil to the base first and always prime your coils. Especially when dealing with such a large coil with so much exposed cotton. This will prevent dry burns.
I'm so fed up with SMOK, ill never buy another product from them! I quit cigarettes for my health but also to save money. But, I've spent 10 times as much money just trying to keep my mod and my hands, clothes dry. This is simply a SHIT company. Period. The mods are okay, but tanks and coils are absolute ahit! You can try every " fix" you find on youtube but the junk will still leak. Hate that company.

Same here man having to deal with this shit makes me wanna light up a cigarette and be done with it.Their tanks are terribly engineered.80% of the time it just flushes out the liquid and when you somehow get it right they vape just avarage not to mention the coil cost.. Such a pain in the ass

same issue. BRAND NEW tank.. I used the black seal in the package and added it to the bottom of coil. no leaks so far..

Some of the coils are at fault but this tank is designed for 100 % vg juice only anything thinner will leak as soon as it gets hot ♨

Evan Mansfield vape liquid is propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin with flavour and nicotine the higher the pg the thinner it is and higher vg obviously it's thicker make huge clouds the tfv12 is designed for 100 % vegetable glycol

1. Grab a small and clean pliers
2. Put paper towel into the top of the coil so you don't damage it
3. Grab the pliers and tighten the coil into the base of the tank as hard as possible
4. Prime it
5. Put the tank together and fill with e liquid
6. Close the airflow all the way and suck the tank 5 to 8 times without firing it.
Also when ur going to fill with e juice while the tank is hot just let it cool down before filling into it and of course always close the airflow before filling it.
Also, any SMOK tank that is leaking is usually because the vacuum seal has been broken. Try lifting the white seal on the top of the tank and removing any dirt or juice that may be under it, and remember, that seal has to be completely flush with the top of the tank. Any resistance when you try to close the top means you won't have a proper vacuum seal and will result in juice pouring out of the air holes.
Just Got the stick prince and as a long time vaper I know how to properly tighten tanks, but it seem this one is leaking profusely through the cotton then whenever the stick is tilted even so much as a wiggle it pours out the side. I'm not sure if the coil is a malfunction but I have hit it at least 30 times with no fix, even finishing off what was left of the first tank and then opening and re-threading all the pieces back together. Any info will help, and I'll be switching coils to see if that is the cause

@0:09 . If you look at the top right-hand corner of the screen at the time I posted here, you can see that someone increased the speed on the video. I'm not sure if this is the original video or not but it appears that someone was editing this video as they watched it and increasing the speed purposely for whatever fucking reason LOL. It increases to 1.70 at the time I mentioned and afterwards it increases even more.

I'm new working with the bigger mod boxes we have use the small pen style shape battery to vape but needed something that gives you more of a hit and smoke. .I've ordered about 3 of the mod box by smok Everyone that I have ordered all leaked all the juice out before we could use it messed two mods up so they would not longer charge them. I quit ordering online and went to a vape store so I could make sure I was getting authentic with a warranty .I filled it up and allow it to sit over night so the juice could soak the cotton in the coil . The juice leak everywhere. I've been cleaning that mess up for two days. I just started watching videos how to fix and stop leaks . I took my baby beast apart the bottom was loose i tight it then took the everything apart except the top I couldn't get it off. I just turned until I thought I was tight even. I put it back together now I'm waiting for my coils to soak up some juice I will it give it a try shortly. If this doesn't fix the leak I will have to drive 40 minutes back to the vape store and they will probably just give my another tank I will have them to fill it up before leave..This has a pain i guess I have to learn all about about the tanks in order to vape using a mod box. I'm thankful there's people like this are big time vapers that take the time to share their experiences with these things.

Tighten the coil to the base first then prime coil then screw tank together then fill
ShIvE The 1st tried this, no matter how tight or loosely it's screwed together it still has a pool after an hour without use. Replaced all gaskets , same issue.

I've had mine a week and wow it leakes all over sending it back. Only good thing I smell of Black Berry all day
First of all check all your coils and make sure there are no wires poking out from the bottom, you just need to push them back in if thats the case, second try not to chain vape as increasing temps will make the plastic seals expand allowing liquid to leak out.
Never tightly screw anything together except the coil to the deck; everything else should only be hand tightened; also screw the coil into the deck first and not the chimney. This is to stop a build in pressure; I would also suggest not totally filling the tank for the same reasons.

A little bit of Teflon tape on down side of the coil rubber and you have no more leaking 100%
I'm going to try this because I think the round rubber seals on the very bottom of the coils are too loose, or, the metal part at the very bottom is too small. So, I am going to pull out the metal part, put a small piece of teflon tape with a small hole for airflow on top of upside down coil/rubber ring, then re-insert the metal piece.

My atomizer SMOK TFV V12 Prince is leaking from air holes and I fix my problem I just change bottom seal (where glass tube and and base atomizer make contact) with seal from UD Zephurus V3 spare kit and top seal (white) I just turn around and now working perfectly with 100% without leaking. I hope this information to help you guys.
For those that are not willing to hit their tank 20-30 times to solve this: I currently own a tfv12 cloud beast, and have owned other smok tanks for several years. When I realized that the coils from Smok were manufactured to shitty quality standards, causing my tanks to leak, I took one of the black rubber rings (comes with the tank, in the box), and slipped it around the bottom of my coil. The black rubber ring will fit just below the red rubber ring (which is supposed to prevent leaking and hold the wires), but pressed against it. When you screw the coil into the base, the cracks in between the original red rubber, and the base itself, will be sealed by the black band that you added. This has worked for several coils that have leaked in the past.
Secondary tip: If you leave the top-fill slide open for too long while filling your juice, the juice will leak through the cotton and into your tank's air-flow area, causing you to inhale it in liquid form while vaping. Keep the top-fill slide closed whenever possible, and only open it when you are physically adding the juice to the tank, to avoid this.

over 60 watts you burn coils, my coil lasts months , but i never let liquid go over 1/3
Sub-ohm coils usually have a minimum required wattage of 60 in order to work as intended. Mine, for example, is 60-90 watts recommended range.

You need to build from the bottom. First screw the coil to the base, that is the seal where you're not getting a proper set. Then add the rest.

ill try this im fucking mad i just went out and got a brand spankin new authentic tf v12 due to my big baby beast kill my gpriv touchscreen mod by shitting the whole tank onto the mods touchscreen is not functioning now ive got rebuildables to use BUT I WANT THIS to go out and about / bring to work....maybe i should have got the UWELL crown v3 or somthing similar a new rta or somthing ( have the Pharoh RTA by digiflavor and rip trippers it dosnt leak PERIOD EVER same with my geekvape avacado 24mm it NEVER EVER Leaks sorry for the rant but im tired of losing mods due to juice making it to the board etc my alien 220 watt is also covered in juice now ( its inside for sure due to the alieans top cooling vents mod still works but has noticible condensation inside the screen now.....THANKS SMOK IVE SPENT NEARLY $700 on your products in the last year all of your stuff is hit or miss i dont know why i keep re purchasing smok products......they work when they work after 50k + puffs things go south i would like to point out that my evic vtwo mini has survived multiple falls full tank juice baths and has been generally beat on has 95677 puffs as of now still rolling strong never lets me down so idk guys has smok really gone downhill that much>?? i cant return this thing or i would in a heartbeat going to give it another chance and see if she leaks again after this method cheers !
i feel you're pain my friend, i just got back from the local vape establishment with a authentic brand new tfv12 ( 7 color rainbow fumed edition) 5 mins after i filled it ( yes i filled it with airholes closed checked all o rings seals everything was just fine) the tank shit ALL of the juice right into my alien 220 watts vent holes gotta love it now im slightly afraid to use the device so idk what to do honestly gunna try Arpit's method below the i hit it several times after the leak and just got flaming hot juice right on my legs = [

May be try TFV 8 or baby beast tank. They don't have this issue.
on the x8 i have the v8 coil after 2 days it burnt taste when taking a long hit...
Don’t get me wrong I KNOW the Smok tanks leak, period. But I just have one comment, tightening everything “realllly” tight could be causing you issues. You want to be able to unscrew any element without straining, should unscrew easily.

Build it from bottom up not top down. The bottom isnt sealing to the tank the coil seals the bottom
Man...there ain’t no fix...and it’s not jus this tank. I have 3 new prince tanks. One of em has this same issue. I trimmed the leads on the wires till I figured out it’s leaking from the center. All seals are good, used multiple coils as well as dif model coils (q4, t12, etc) , still none stop leaking. No matter how hard I crank it down...there’s something defective in Smok quality control. Cuz whatever this issue is it’s getting by them . So they can’t fix what they can’t see. I’m as shitty as most the ppl I see commenting here. Not happy with Smok

Uncle ben's ....man I was having the hardest time with these tanks at first. But I figured out a couple things and haven’t had a prob sense, with any of my SMOK tanks. The white ring up top. There’s something defective in its design. Cuz I took the one out that was in it from factory ,and I put the spare in it (which was a dif design). I did this with all my SMOK tanks , and never had an issue again. The difference in those white rings/grommets was one of them has a very small sleeve that fits into the fill port, the other is identical but doesn’t have that sleeve on it. The sleeved one was the culprit on 3 of my tanks. The other issue I found was if those same rings had ANY juice on the under side of it, the vacuum won’t work when closed. So jus keep an eye on that as well.....I know a lot of ppl bad mouth SMOK. And I’m sure they have their reasons. But once I solved this issue I never had a prob again. The prince and the baby are prolly my favorite tanks today. But I will say I been experimenting with others simply cuz I can’t get a temp coil for em. The cascade by vaporresso is one I’ve been using more and more cuz I can get stainless steel coils for it from its predecessor (NRG)...It’s fantastic. Hope this was alil help man...good luck
I have also noticed sometimes I would see a drip that made me think (here we go again). But it turned out to be the only drip....jus make sure before u take it back apart every time that it is an actual leak and not jus a drop or 2....please don’t be insulted by me saying it like that, I get it’s kinda common sense. But I promise there are many many ppl that have to be told that..lol

The best you can do is tighten everything as much as possible (Think channel locks and a t-shirt for protection...have fun getting it back apart though) while being careful not to break anything in this piece of shit...because it can and will break in any fashion imaginable. I've gone through 3 Aliens in 8 months and now use a GX350. I purchased a bulk quantity of Smok coils which has kept me begrudgingly tied to them financially. When this GX350 breaks, it had better be a year from now or I won't give one more penny to this shit company. The problem is ALL vape machines are junk. The BEST of them are laughably designed and manufactured to specs Hasbro would mock.
PLEASE would a REAL fucking company start making a vape machine!!!! Imagine Samsung cranking out one of these bad boys, it would NOT LEAK, would NOT SHORT OUT when simply removing the batteries while it's still on, and there would be a fucking person to talk to if there was a problem who just might SEND A DAMN NEW ONE WITHOUT A THREE MONTH WAIT!!!!!....goddammit I hate this habit. I've worked in machine shops, have genius computer hardware/software friends and I am strongly considering building my own from the ground up. How could I make it any worse????? Total shit.
Max I couldn't agree more. Across the board. You know why ModFather. Asylum Mods. Vapor Nomads. Etc cost so much? AMERICAN MADE!!! I won a Tfv12 in a giveaway. And I couldn't GIVE IT AWAY IF I TRIED! At days end, they have coils the size of a Buick. After a day of two, cotton blows out, and poor through into the air chamber. Never thought about Samsung however. Nice call. So... I get the 12, by the way, I now understand why the 12 in now cheaper than the 8. Anyway, I get the 12. Have it 24hrs. Never fired once. All the coils leaked. Sent it back, seeing how Smok now has an American Wrrnty Co. To be clear, it's a private company. Sub-contract type deal. Nothing to do w/Smok, really. 22wks. Yep. Not a typo. 22wks. That's how long it took to get it back. Had it back two days. Even as we speak, I'm cleaning a mess. DONE! I'm about to sit and order a new mod and tank. I'm a musician. Playing at a Nascar event tonight/tomorrow. So, I have to use it. I've got the rebuildable deck for the 12. Gonna try to slap a set of my own coils in it for tomorrow. I'll get back to you on that. I may try one other import company. However, many of these imports, are designed by American Vape/Reviewers. So... I'll try this new Vandy Vape Kylin. Maybe AromaMizer by SteamCrave. After that? ModFather or Asylum Mods. That's it's for me!!! I'll let you know how the rebuildable deck works out.

100% agree man, two years into my vape habit and probably have owned around 10 different machines. they all break down so fast its un real.. the company that does make a legit one will stand so far ahead of the rest it wont even be competition... until then....

I agree that alein tanks are literal shit i had a tfv8 swivel pin pop out completley outa nowhere one time while re filling it and the tfv12 is the beast king at leaking no matter how or what fucking head gasket/coil combonation i use seriously i may just go back to making rdas

Ive had a Wismec Predator with Elabo Tank for a couple months and it recently started leaking out of the airflow holes. Checked seals and tightened it well, but still leaks.
Or try using thicker juice and make sure everything is tight and u dont over fill it lol

Another Solution is: Use eliquid - 80% VG. I got my eliquid from VAPEWILD. They sell 80% VG or Full VG.
Gonna try your solution vaping it 20-30 times and see how it goes for me, will update

Smok makes junk mods/ atomizers. They're a china-based company and their products reflect that. My first mod was a Smok Rigel with a TFV9 tank, and my girlfriend's as well, and they both leaked like crazy whenever they tilt. I've replaced all seals, coils, did the upside down vaccum "trick" and nothing works. I should also mention that the atomizer on my Rigel doesn't sit flush with the mod. Turned out to be a problem with the mod itself, actually, and not the atomizer. JUNK.

1. unscrew tank from the base of mod
2. place in trash
3. buy an rda

U need to learn to prime bro place juice on all outer cotton of the coil before even putting it together make sure it’s juiced up well put it all on fill tank close air flow don’t squeeze button and suck(inhale) hard around five to eight times open all the way do the same thing then let sit for about five-ten min. U did non of that and ur coil is probably ruined now you also don’t want it on that high of watts when ur first using it slowly build up from around 15-20 watts below of best at use watts it burns the coils and makes them no good which can also be a big factor in leak also get thicker juice then at the same time bottom air flow sucks it’s always going to leak just keep it up right
its the coils bro. I used the Q4 coils in mine and it leaks into the bottom of the tank (airflow chamber) I stopped using it because I realized SMOK has horrible quality control. Some coils last 4 days others last not even one day. I got a Crown 3 and never looked back. Also u MUST screw the coil into the deck and then into the chimney, not chimney then deck. That will leak too

Thanks. One of the solution that i personally found that you might need to vape 20-30 times as it take little bit time to create a vacuum. Once the vacuum is created, it will go smooth. Mine stop dripping on all coils. Let me know if that works for you.

I have a TFV12 too, only leaked once, when you take the glass off make sure the seal on the bottom doesnt have a small twist on it and screw thr coil into the.bottom first and screw it in hard as it has to sit perfecr otherwise it leaks
Confirmed. Brand new fv12, leaked right out of the box, swapped coil, works like a charm!
it's the coil wires poking through the o-ring at the bottom , took mine apart adjusted the wires o-ring back on and no more leaks
ive given up and gone back to eleaf , every coil i bought was leaking
