    If a person isn't accepted into the FLEP/EFLEP program, what other options are available for getting a law degree in the military?

    You are answering my questions as I think of them… 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
    Based on what I’m understanding so far, it’s probably better that my daughter go into the Air Force reserves prior to entering undergraduate and upon graduation then sign up for FLEPS? Please correct me if I’m wrong… In case you haven’t read my comment on another post she’s a high school Junior interested in becoming a JAG…

    Thank you for this video, it helped answer a lot of questions! I am currently trying to be commissioned as a weather officer. My end goal with the military is to become an environmental lawyer but with how competitive the FLEP program it seems going to law school first night be the better option. Do JAGs practice environmental law as well? Or are they more niche?

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Environmental law is a more niche field, but we do send a few JAGs each year to get an LL.M. in environmental law, which will vector them more for those particular assignments afterwards. Starting out though, you may not touch it much, but starting out, you’ll be expected to learn all areas of law more generally.

    Is air guard and law school doable? I’d like to do this to join the jag corp and help my law school get paid. Would appreciate any advice

      2 years late, but I personally know three Air Guard enlisted paralegals that drilled while attending law school. All three commissioned as JAG officers after passing bar exams. Two stayed in the Guard and one went Active.

    Really great video! I'm really interested in this program. I'm still a little confused at the "full-time student" designation. This is saying, other than summer internships, your are NOT working in an assigned AFSC, and just going to school, yet still getting paid? As someone who has been working full-time and going to school full-time for the past 5 years, this is hard to believe. 🤣

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that’s correct! When you’re in school, your job is to be a good student. Especially with law school, I think it would be extremely difficult to go to school full time and work full time too. Generally, when people work full time, they’re only part-time law students, and those programs are for 4 years. With FLEP/E-FLEP, however, you’re a full-time student, and yes, you still get paid commiserate with your rank and time in service. If you’d like to learn more (or check me), I cite the AFI in the video for reference, so feel free to check it out!

    Do I have to be a JAG after completing FLEP and the Bar exam? What if I just wanted to get a JD, but work for a different career field within the Air Force? Thank you!

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope… If you sign up for FLEP, JAG’s got ya… So you’ll have to become one of us 😬

      @@ashleynoelle Can I switch to FAO after completing my JAG service?

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      By FAO, do you mean Foreign Area Officer? If so, that’s a program that you’d do while maintaining your primary AFSC. You’d just switch back and forth: FAO assignment, then an AFSC assignment, FAO assignment, AFSC assignment, etc - sort of like that. The tricky part will be getting your AFSC to essentially let you go so that you can participate in the FAO program. Setting you with fair expectations, JAGs are eligible to participate in the FAO program, as far as I know, but I don’t think I’ve heard of any JAGs who are a part of it. There might be some out there; I may just be unaware of them.

    Confused on the tuition rate? On the Air Force website it says that the only aide we can use is the tuition rate and academic scholarships, does that mean no federal student aide or any private means of paying the left over cost? I find it hard to believe that $375 will cover tuition, maybe I’m confused.

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, Browdie! That's correct, you can rely on academic scholarships (so no federal student loans) or waivers from the institution. And when it says $376, that's per credit hour. So if you're full-time and taking 15 credit hours in a semester, for instance, then they'll pay $375 x 15 for that semester.

    Do jag officers have to go through the normal basic training that army recruits go through?

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      JAGs go through officer training. At least in the Air Force, officers and enlisted go through different types of training.
