Super glad you liked the shifter. What I’m not happy with is how much love it’s getting in the comments section. You’re supposed to hate it everyone!!!! It’s a great bit of gear though. Glad you liked it Scotty and it got a giggle from a few people.
Shame on you for not using a bit of assembly lube on the spool pins, Scotty , lol. Picking up the axle one handed like a beast.💪 You working on the ground like a lot of us do in our garage/shed makes this really relatable.
A vice shifter, the only tool you’ll ever need … genius. And how good is it to see people still writing letters in 2025. Don’t underestimate the power of that tool either😊
between this video and your last video about the spool i bought and installed the same spool in my m78 vt commodore diff. i had the exact same issue you did with the spool not fitting, because i do things so professionally i used a flapper disk to shave my spool. It worked perfectly😂
Shifter vise grips are unreal for getting bolts/nuts undone that are really tight, normal spanners are sometimes a bit loose and may round the head of a tight bolt, how to use vise grip shifter, first unlock vise grip lever, place tool over bolt/nut tighten shifter adjuster as tight as you can, then squeeze vise grip lever together until it clicks, there you have the tightest fitting shifter with loads more grip than spanners or normal shifters, saved my ass many times .
5:50 Welcome to this episode of WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS FN KAARRRNNNTTT OF A THING NOW!!!! We’ve all been there, order all the “right” parts be totally prepared but sh*z just happens 😂 Good to see you don’t hide stuff ups Scotty even if they are totally out of your hands. Thanks for all the hard work and great content. Cheers Pat
She was putting up a bit of a fight for a while with the mini-spool :-) A skim with the Lathe though and its not a paperweight anymore! Gotta love machinists, fitter and turners etc
Have had the same issue fitting a minispool in the past. My solution was slightly less elegant, I used a flap wheel and a grinder....... 😊 good to see it coming together finally. There seem to be more and more 12 for 2k builds on TH-cam each week.
"AH" , Mugoo, you've done it agen, LOL, 10/10 & A+, To you Scotty and to Dave and Leroy, outstanding you guys. You are a credit to Australia and it's People's Day.
That locking shifter is great if you get one from a proper tools place. You can put the shifter on the bolt and clamp down just like multy grips without distroying the bolt
We had exactly the same problem with our mini spool for our build......only found out after having filmed the part part where we said " This is how you do it Scotty !" Instant Karma !! We used a flapper disc on the chamfers to make it fit 🙂
I sure hope you get a break now the nats are done mate. I know you're shooting for Australia Day, but at the very least, I hope you can stay home till then. Thanks for a huge 2024, here's to a great 2025 for you and the family. See you at heathcote
Hey Scotty yeah I know it’s a 2k hack but with the extra grunt it’s going to have to handle I think it might be a good idea to torque up the crownwheel bolts … I worked @ BTR & we definitely torqued them up
Scotty, how on Earth did you lift up that whole diff housing with one hand? How many Weet Bix are you eating for that strength? Great video mate, it's made my Monday!
@blownhemi I did suggest it a while back. Hope you run 11's. You need a much bigger exhaust housing on that turbo, I wonder if you could find a fg xr turbo at a decent price or borrow one.
EBay parts that don’t fit what a revelation never happened That’s the exact reason buying parts on line for projects can be false economy Almost every thing I’ve purchased from EBay didn’t fit correctly without modification of some sort and further cost So how much to machine it ?
Scotty’s new side channel VSG, Vice Shifter Garage. Keep up the great work Scotty.
Mad, mad Leroy Brown. Maddest bloke in the TH-cam town. Madder than old King Kong. Cooler than a junkyard dog. What a legend!

What a tune.
Damn I was going to say that.
Badder than you or me 😂

Good to see the shifter used on the diff filler plug :)

I was going to do that, but I asked David first
@ if you have access to machine tools it’s always better you use them
Someone donate this man a hoist!
15:00 Good thing you got that new welding table - your old wonky setup would have been obliterated 😆

having a freezer and a oven helps with this sort of job. grate content scotty.
That's a great idea, but not sure my wife would agree

We all gonna pretend we didn't just see Scotty pick the diff housing up single handed like it was nothing 😮😂
Nice machine work on the mini spool Scotty !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Love your work Scotty. Awesome content as usual.

Beautiful work buddy… good luck
hahaha :-D love the tool mate :-) merry Christmas & happy new year
Seeing as Elmo keeps making his appearance gotta name the au Elmo 💪🏽🤣
I like those metric/imperial shifters with built in vise grips😁
Full commitment putting in that diff💪😉🏆
a locking shifter! Now you can confidently do head studs and cam bolts.
@@ibast1 haha
Looking good mate 👍 great to see Elmo helping out.
Continue to love the work that you're doing Scotty!! Keep it up mate!
It’s coming together nicely Scotty, not confident you will make the deadline but I’ll be here watching either way. Keep it up!
It's gonna be close but we'll get there.

@@mg74xbgt I saw that, and I did laugh, and I laughed extra hard when it didn't fit
Love your form Scotty, deadlifting the diff housing with one hand haha
I had the same issue with my mini spool in my VN. Has to use the angle grinder and grind it down to fit. Was an absolute pita
Good onya David!
nice job scotty keep up the good work 🙂
Great job! Making some good progress on it
Had exact problem with a VT mini spool 😂
i just commented about that😂😂
XE Shock absorbers will fit in the back of your AU race car,and the XE Coil springs work well too,did it to my AU for bugger all,its a cheap mod
Shes starting to take shape bro...

I never would have though working on a diff that is sitting on axle stands would be so difficult but I know the pain in the arse that it can be now.
Youre really making me wanna put a minispool in my r31 skyline diff, what will then eventually be shortened and modified to fit my 910 bluebird wagon
Hey Scotty yeah I know it’s a 2k hack but with the extra grunt it’s going to have to handle I think it might be a good idea to torque up the crownwheel bolts … I worked @ BTR & we definitely torqued them up
I know I should have, but I rolled the dice this time
It fits! end of episode..
👍👍👍
why didn't you fit the arms old mate sent you express post when you had the diff out.
They needed shims when I tried to fit them
Scotty, how on Earth did you lift up that whole diff housing with one hand? How many Weet Bix are you eating for that strength?
Great video mate, it's made my Monday!
Haha, I couldn't do it with a gearset in there
Lost in translation, in the UK I'd call that an axle casing, which would house a differential and drive shafts.
Yep, every country has their own nomenclature
8:25 sometimes theres a shim thats stuck in the centre
It wasn't, I checked several times
Yeah sweet was just a thing thats caught me out before (:
I seen you today 😊
Warts and all is my motto
use a bit of tyre treatment for the tyres
Is that Volvo the Trolvo or a different project?
I had a similar problem once in a vs, found that it was actually for a m80 not a m78 haha could be your issue as well.
interesting
Good to see you using a pump for the oil. It was painful to watch you squeeze oil into stuff like you was doing.
@Fgfalconboy yeah, the pump was a good suggestion by the fans, I didn't know penrite did a quality pump
@blownhemi I did suggest it a while back. Hope you run 11's. You need a much bigger exhaust housing on that turbo, I wonder if you could find a fg xr turbo at a decent price or borrow one.
@@Fgfalconboy I have a new turbo to show you guys
@@blownhemi can't wait to see what you have.
how many spline are those axel will they be good whit the spoll ans slick
28 spline in E and a series falcons.
It would be real funny if the second spool didn't fit. 😆
Didn't you use 1 on those vice grip shifters to remove the fuel Regulator or am I dreaming 🤔
Correct, but as I said previously I started some of these videos out of sequence because of problems cropping up, like the mini-spool not fitting

Never seen a cheap mini spool fit out of box , romac ones do but u pay for them
You might want to treat those tyres to a coating of AZNU tyre softner. Put some life back into them.
Yeah, I'll try that out
Can someone gift the boy an engineers hammer.Soft blow no good on steel.
I don't want to hit the gears with a steel hammer
Very unusual for a cheap part not to fit😒
haha
Put the dentist tools away and use a hammer 32oz minimum.
