Goblin, also called Guardian The Great and Lonely God, has one of the best sound tracks of any K drama including the songs Stay with Me by Chanyeol and Round and Round by Heize. The drama itself is also a masterpiece. Probably in my top 3 favorite dramas. It makes you feel every emotion, it explores topics like God and Death and Forgiveness. But it also has hilariously funny dialogue, so it never gets too heavy. It’s about a general from the Goryeo period in Korean history (918-1389 ad). Who betrays his country and is punished to become a Goblin and live forever with a flaming sword through his chest until the Goblin Bride comes along who can see the sword and remove it, at which point he can die. When he finally finds the girl who can see the sword she is only a high school student, and a sad and lonely orphan. Too young to be the goblin bride. So he decides to watch over her as she grows up until she is old enough to kill him. She is happy because for the first time in since her mom died she had someone taking care of her. The Goblin, who had spent the last thousand years longing for death, finally learns how to live and how to smile. He starts making friends, and discovers that maybe it’s not so bad to be alive.

Roscoe - so so happy to see you explore kmusic.....not just kpop....more and more. Korean just fits my taste perfectly - instrumentally, heavy on the synths and electronic sounds.

I'm so addicted to this show, Guardian the Great and Lonely God and the OST!!! It's still on my mind often. I've watched the full show at least 5 times and listen to the OST on spotify. Great song. Side note, Gong Yoo is still hot and the Bromance is sooo fun.
I'd say it's one of the most famous k-dramas of the decade, so yeah spoilers at this point, it is what it is 🤣 I'd say many find the age difference problematic but other than that, amazing drama, actors, amazing COATS and this legendary OST! It is still so popular 5/6years on for people using as their wedding songs (including J-Hope's sister!). Crush has a beautiful voice.💜
I’ve resolved the age difference problem for myself when I heard it equated to vampire romances. No one seems to have a problem with a several hundred years old vampire falling for a 18-20 year, so what’s an extra 500 years 😂😂

I think the difference that people find uncomfortable is that she plays a high schooler when she first meets him and he "died' in clearly his mid-30s or something buttttt nothing romantic happens until she is an adult, and she's much older in real life so that's how I justified it ha.
Also "stay with me" is one of my fav song from OSTs of Goblin🥰

If I were you, Roscoe, I'd start to watch Kdramas... this, Goblin, is one of my favorites!!! The Korean actors are excellent, the way they approach hard subjects with a perfect pitch of comedy, beautiful photography, soundtracks... I love almost all I watched till now! My first one was Mr Sunshine... an intense and tragic love story with not even one kiss 😅 I was hooked at the first sight! 😊
Since the 19-episode 2016 Korean tv series ‘Goblin’ or ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ isn’t on Netflix, here is one place to find it: the relatively inexpensive Asian content subscription service Rakuten Viki. A 9.7 rating there. A complex story, it is one of the best tv series or movies I have ever seen anywhere, and I plan to watch it again. Lovely song.💜

There is a beautiful story behind this song. Or maybe a sad one?
Crush got burned out because he would have to sing it EVERYWHERE. People were obsessed with it and he had a lot of other songs... It came to the point that he developed some stage fright and didn't want to perform anymore. He was severely damaged by then. But after some time, and I think shortly before his military enlistment or around it he came to terms with the fame of the song over him (something similar happened to Psy with Gangnam Style, as he explained it I think prior to releasing That That? Or maybe in some interview... I watch a lot of things xD -- and still know you'd love Happier: Psy+Crush ;)).
Anyway, he overcame that fear of the monster song devouring him and in some vacation/permit he sang it for Hobi's sister (it was there where they met and started talking, bc contrary to people's assumptions, the army is not jail and even there you have cellphones XD).
He recounted all this in a couple of places I remember: the drunk interview with Youngji and in a 20min performance where he had to read and reply comments while singing his most famous songs. And he is pretty awesome tbh.
