Until this year my favourite historical drama was the moon embraces the sun but after I watched The red sleeve cuff I can’t say the same, this drama is absolutely beautiful, I recommend everyone to watch it❤️
Moon embracing the sun still takes the cake for me. There’s a certain anguish I feel when I remember the opening theme. I completed the red sleeve recently and loved it up until episode 15 I think, I got tired of the emotional stalemate between the two leads.
Yessss sooo many deep words and moving scenes. That scene where Yi Hwi is in the garden looking at the trees and Ji Hoon remembers the kiss wasn’t a dream and he confesses he loves the crown prince even though “he’s a man” even though he is royalty. I was so emotional
Before Red Sleeve come out, Scarlet Heart will always be my favourite historical kdrama, but not more, Red Sleeve is my favourite now! A bit dissapointed with Lovers of the Red Sky act
The Red Sleeve is the best one so far, at least for me. From great acting performance and production to interesting story, it has everything. It's quite serious, but with good comic reliefs, and all episodes were equally good, which is rarely the case. It nicely wrapped up 2021. 😊

Just Between Lovers (2018) is also a great drama (main role was Junho), it shows some rough sides of life and is both serious and healing. Many loved it, including me. If you like lighthearted feel-good dramas, maybe give Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha a try. I was suspicious because of the title, but totally enjoyed watching it. It was quite touching and, aside from romance and realistic relationship problems, it showed how hard life can be when we get old. It's a drama that will make your heart tingle. I hope you'll enjoy at least one of these :)

Red sleeve was incredible. Best kdrama I've seen in a while. The acting is top notch and somehow, despite the sad history it is based off of, there are many light hearted moments that keep you smiling. The pacing of each episode was also very well written.
mr.queen is the best historical drama ever . It created the beautiful couple and powerful couple like kim jung hyun and shin hae sun . it makes us funny ,excited , mystery ,romantic and wonderful when pandemic time .

Haven't seen all of them but so far The King's Affection was my fav. So sad and heartfelt with, luckily, a happy ending. Noone has mentioned The Crowned Clown which I really enjoyed as well.
Taecyeon was brilliant in Secret Inspector and Joy! I was shocked at his performance in Vincenzo...he killed it! Loved King's Affection. Rowoon is adorable. the Red Sleeve was my favorite. Lee Jun Ho was outstanding!

As a Korean viewer, other historical dramas focused on fiction rather than real stories, while The red sleeve was based on real stories, so I think I was more impressed.
I love The red sleeve and The tale of Nokdu but my most favourite is The red sleeve. From the plot, the great acting from the main lead, the cinematography, the storyline and most important it base from a true story IT'S AMAZING. And actually I love sad drama😅I highly recommend this drama and Tale of Nokdu you will not regret it 👍🏻
The Tale-of Nokdu is by far the best of the lot! It’s got everything, a lot of humour, romance, good story plot, action, amazing cast with the fabulous chemistry of the male and female leads. Love it lots ❤️❤️❤️
Just watched this masterpiece. Lovers of the red sky is for sure the best historical drama. The storyline and cinematography is on the top. The chemistry between cast is also amazing. The OSTs are soothing and lovely too.The best thing about this drama is that the story isn't completely revolve around the king's life but also shows the life and stories of the people in the town (i.e. Ha-ram and Hong cheong gi)I really loved this fantasy and romantic concept. And my lovely Ahn hyo seop's acting is stunning as always.Fighting paul opppa!!❤️😍
I fell for Ha Ram of the Lovers of the Red Sky and Kim Yu Jung as painter Hong Cheungi, beautiful beautiful fantasy historical drama, it gives the feel of a fairy tale and i love the ending ❤. My next fave is Mr Queen and the king himself 👏👏 The Red Sleeve will really make you root for the handsome king and the heroic, beautiful court lady..a must watch but prepare your heart to be broken in the last 2 episodes. Arthdal Chronicles is something new and Song Joong Ki is really mesmerizingly beautiful as Saya in this drama..but sad that it has no proper ending and has just left its viewers hanging. .badly need Season 2 😥

If you loved [Red sleeve] or [Moon lovers], l would strongly recommend [The princess' man (2011)]. This is still the best drama I've ever seen. Deep acting, story line, ost, production, visual... all things are just perfect. This is the Korean version of [Romeo And Juliet] but much more sad and it shows really deep love. It based on real history and narratives (faction). It's been more than 10 years, but NEVER OLD at all. I can say this is the most heartbreaking and sad historical romantic drama, and the tragedy starts from the episode 8 (Total : 24 episodes).
Historical dramas are my faves and I have seen a few 2019/2020 ones (including Arthdal Chronicles and Kingdom). From the 2021 ones, I have Lovers Of The Red Sky on my list to watch 😇
For me alchemy of soul s1,s2 is the ultimate best historical kdrama. like the plot, the actors, the chemistry , the comedy, the romance 👌💅💅. And the sword fighting of actors are epic. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 100/100

Some of my favorite historical CHINESE DRAMAS (I love so many of them--can't get enough!): Arthdal Chronicles Tribes and Empires Princess Agents Tale of Nokdu Scarlett Heart (Chinese version - "BuBu Jing Xin")--most beautiful scenes and music! Prince of Lan Ling so many more... BEST CHINESE MOVIE EVER... Red Cliff -- 1 & 2 (the first 15-20 minutes is a little confusing, but then you'll be on the edge of your seat for the rest)! Actors and music are excellent!!

I just watched 100 DAYS MY PRINCE and is now one of my favorites in Period kdramas. Lovers in the Moonlight, Moon Embracing the Sun and Empress Ki are all time faves.
I have not seen The King's Affection but it reminds me of a Korean movie I saw in California, in 1975. I believe the English title was The Seventh Princess, about a baby sent away after the king her father was disappointed by yet another girl. I remember the glorious costuming.
Red sleeve is best cast, best direction ,drama development and actors integrity. Scarlet hearts ,lovers of the moon absolutely need a season 2, otherwise the last episode is meaningless , insensitively harsh . Épisode 2 would be great 👍
If you want a good historical drama Two that you may not have seen, and are not on the list River where the Moon Rises. My Country, New Age Both contain fighting, they are not sugar sweet historical dramas, there is an underlying love story in both.

Lee Jee Hoon of Taxi Driver is the best actor in Kdramaland..parallel of Al Pacino and Robert de Niro..not included in the List ..just want to mention only..acting wise Hope to see Shin Hae Sun and LeeJeeHoon in Historical Drama..this would be a Titanic Match..an eye for an eye acting

If you loved [Red sleeve] or [Moon lovers], l would strongly recommend [The princess' man (2011)]. This is still the best drama I've ever seen. Deep acting, story line, ost, production, visual... all things are just perfect. This is the Korean version of [Romeo And Juliet] but much more sad and it shows really deep love. It based on real history and narratives (faction). It's been more than 10 years, but NEVER OLD at all. I can say this is the most heartbreaking and sad historical romantic drama, and the tragedy starts from the episode 8 (Total : 24 episodes).

'The Red Sleeve' was the hottest in Korea in 2021.
I have not seen The King's Affection but it reminds me of a Korean movie I saw in California, in 1975. I believe the English title was The Seventh Princess, about a baby sent away after the king her father was disappointed by yet another girl. I remember the glorious costuming.
