      This is the literal treasure trove of information, which I associate with finding a gold mine. It's that good. It clears the mind of a person who is open to research but is cluttered from same and becomes immobilised and confused. This is someone who has trained on and off for 25 years. It's like turning the windscreen wipers on in a heavy rainstorm. Clarity, direction!

    I switched to Arnold's split, and my arms are finally growing.
    I don't do as many exercise or sets, but have 2 arm days have finally gotten my lagging arms to above 15 inches.
    I'm super limb dominant so for my body type it's exactly what is needed.

      Yep because people just say you work them doing back or chest not knowing that none of the best arms where built like that it’s such misinformation! Also I have tiny bones in my arms and got mine from 13.5 to 18” at my biggest and I had a point where I trained them everyday for a month straight at one point doing biceps/triceps/ Rev grips and forearms in a 3 day repeating cycle that’s how I got mine to there biggest of you have small hard to grow arms you got to extreme work!!!

      @@tonyvee5799 I like that it allows you to hit each muscle group twice a week. Plus on arms/legs day you get to hit arms fresh rather than tacking them on after a chest/back workout. On torso day I do 2 exercises per muscle group, 2 worksets, first one to faliure then second with less weight higher rep range (sometimes with drop set or rest pause). I have 2 routines for torso and limbs day which I alternate between. Its got me the best results of all the routines I have tried. I do a 5 week PPL routine occasionally to freshen things up then go back to torso/limbs.

    The Torso/Limbs split; seemingly this is rare - I've only seen it covered here recently... I've just come up with my own recovery focused split (it's a mix of antagonistic training), which I simply call my "Basic 3-day Split". I think it's better than full body, as you can get in a little more volume per body part per workout:
    1. Chest & Back, Biceps
    2. Rest
    3. Shoulders & Triceps, Legs
    4. Rest
    5. Biceps, Back & Chest
    6. Rest
    7. Rest
    ...So twice a week direct training for the chest, back and biceps; once a week direct training for the shoulders and triceps, and legs (bro split style). Of course there's extra indirect work throughout the split for the shoulders and triceps, and with legs you'll just have to go all-out once a week... Adding extra body parts will only make the workouts longer, I think. Heavy chest and back on the first day (with moderate volume), with some biceps - and it's reversed on the last day; more volume for the biceps and lighter work for the back and chest (heavy presses and pulls on the first day; pulldowns or pullovers and mainly incline presses on the last day - with direct shoulders, triceps, and leg work sandwiched in-between, to negate systemic fatigue).
    I just thought I'd share this here. I think this is very basic, and all that one really needs for quick overall mass building - and the extra rest days allow for better recovery. 😃

    What is your opinion of doing a "pure" push / pull split, doing quads on push and hammies on pull?
    I like the structure But sometimes find it difficult to execute

    • @daniel-no1nn
      @daniel-no1nn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You shouldnt do quads with push because you have a downwards force of production and after a series od heavy squats,leg press etc you wont be able to train chest and the rest of the bodyparts effectively.

    • @PeterKhatcherian
      @PeterKhatcherian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That’s exactly how i feel about it as well. Love the concept and allows for great recovery. The stronger you get the longer the workouts become and the more you need to break up the training

      @@daniel-no1nn If the split looks as such: push 1/pull 1/off/push 2/pull 2/off then do taxing leg lifts and lighter weight chest lifts on push 1 and lighter weight leg lifts and taxing chest lifts on push 2.

    • @steffenpetersen2103
      @steffenpetersen2103 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@danielszemborski i find that most people can squat just fine after they done heavy bench / push session But it does not apply the other way around.
      Also choosing exercises where you can do more out of less weight is key too. Doing front squats, lunges, single leg press etc. Will fatigue you less than Regular back squats.

    I’m thinking of doing this split I’ve been training for 7 years and have gotten pretty big and strong at some points in my training but now I’m focusing fully on bodybuilding and aesthetics. I’m super torso dominant and have been doing push pull legs for years and have peppered biceps and shoulders on my leg days to try and catch them up to the rest of my body. However this somewhat has worked but not to the level I’d like so I’m going yo switch to this split for a few years and see how it goes.

      I wouldn’t consider it lagging. Legs just were not as much of a focus as the sport was more rewarded by aesthetics rather than being a mass monster

    I’m 61 and have been doing a full body split Monday, Wednesday and Friday. As weights have increased (still usually making progress though it appears to be slowing) this has grown more and more stressful and I’m wondering if it’s to much, should I switch, and to what?

    Training 4times per week (torso limb) works best for me. 3 times is too little meaning can't hit all the muscles without spending too much time in the gym. 5 or 6 times are too taxing to my body(can't fully recover). Although as I progress I'll try 5 times a week one more time.

      1 - Torso

      3 - Off ( ABS + cardio )
      4 - Torso
      5 - Legs
      6 - Arms and Shoulders isolation

    Ah the 1980's....3 on 1 off....Push, pull legs....Cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning.....And a lot of money wasted on absolute crap supplements that you can't even find today.....And then came the 1990's and Dorian and everyone started training H.I.T "Blood n' Guts"....Amazing how some things change, and some remain the same.

    Full body 3x a week
    Pick 1 lower body movement (Squat, dead or Lunge)
    Pick 1 upper push (Bench, Dips or overhead press)
    Pick 1 upper pull (pullups or Rows)
    Then sprinkle in some arms and calves. I also like doing a loaded carry as a Finisher

      As someone who's never been on gear, I can tell you any one of these will bring results. Just make sure to train a little harder each time and don't train a body part if it's not recovered (take an extra day off to stretch and rest if you need it).
