I have a quick question for you.did you find when you were putting this together that sometimes the gears started to bind/jam if so how did you get around it . Also what did you do with the planets to get them seated for good. I'm thinking of glue as evertime I move it to add the next part I have to go on a hunt for one or more of them planets as they have fallen out. Anyway thanks for posting.

They work from these gears and you attach the plants to a smaller gear and it would do a pattern of spinning around it and theres this mechanism in the middle. If you would like to buy a prebuilt one search for it, Itll cost from 300 - 500 dollars.

Eaglemoss is the company that sells the magazine. Did anyone have trouble with the Earth, Moon, Sun orbiter? Mine never sat right & gears wouldn't mesh, the 1st one was perfect (apart from a few dodgy screws)
yep! bought one off ebay that was obviously sold because of this (without power supply for that reason!). I drilled the hole that the plastic bush turns inside half a mm bigger - at this point you realise its just brass plated! I also put two 4mm grub screws either side of the block underneath of the dial at the top (tiny grub screw kept slipping).
could you please tell me the size at its widest points I would like to build a case for it but may be I may only be able to build a case for it at its smallest size for show. Taking the case off when working. do you feel they will go up or keep there value over time.

The magazine is called "Build a model Solar System" & the magazine company is "Eaglemoss" as seen at 7.25 onwards. The mag comes with bits & pieces each week to build a section. It takes a year & costs up to $20 per mag from issue 4. Well worth it, I think, then you can build the Earth, Moon, Sun Orbiter (mine wasn't too great, some gears wouldn't mesh right & the screws were very poor quality & crumbled!)

Really upset with smiths. My news agent has been on the phone week after week and I have phoned smiths myself. I'm still waiting for issue 12 the Earth edition Im on 47 this week 20th 7th 2016 as you know they are seven pounds each magazine Im building on for my self and one for the nearly grandson. It look great and very hard to get a well made work of art because the cost in one lump sum is huge. sadly smiths have complete monopoly in England. and I do want to help small shops stay open in England because we only have charity shops which now only sell stuff they don't sell on ebay
You can simply buy it but its expensive. You have to get parts to built it (Itll cost like 12 dollars at best.) If you want it pre - built itll cost 300 - 500 dollars.
Ah, no, you really should, I was hooked & couldn't wait for each issue & the results are worth it. For the Orrery, the 2nd Earth, Moon & Sun orbiter model never worked right. The gears wouldn't mesh & the screws were very poor quality. They look good though.
@@simonwillis1529 Do you only have issues 1-52? If so then you should really build it. Youll need some tools though its like a medium difficulty. I havent got one myself so i'd have to see

I know it's late reply but I found if you built it seated upside down, with sun resting in a heavy-duty holder, it won't put the pressure on gears.
Is there a help forum for this assembly? I am already stuck on stage 1 and would love some help

@@suzukicappuccino took me two weeks to get that moon orbiter to work, the main drive shaft just spun by it self ,the counter does not work either

They all come in the same size, For an example. If you get a console and put it up straight and not layed down, Thats technically how big it is.
