I love Ludicolo. It's got such a wonderfully big smile that I couldn't help but pick it every time back when Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald were the current games. I haven't used one in quite a while, so I may have to use one in a personal playthrough at some point soon.
Interesting how Ludicolo has almost always been a monster in doubles, considering how he's probably best known as Miror B's signature Pokemon, who is a trainer in a region that almost exclusively has double battles. Miror B pls come back and grace us with your groovy presence.
Ludicolo is a actually a pretty good Pokemon If it wants to succeed in singles though, it needs a buff in it's Stats. Those stats look so mediocre with the Generation Power Creep continuing.
Ludicolo was a pain in my butt during the sun series monthlies alongside Groudon and *XERNEAS.* Toxicroak was my best friend with poking the deer but I didn't expect that killing Ludicolo would have been so important due to grass knot. Ludicolo was a force to be reckoned with, possibly even the scariest thing on the team beside the deers and I will respect it forever even with my victory against it
Pokemon Sapphire, Ludicolo is part of my all water type team. He holds a Shell Bell (will replace it with Leftovers soon) its moves are: Fake Out, Rain Dance, Surf, Giga Drain. Rain Dish really comes in handy lol. This thing is a monster
Good grief, I did not know that at all! I was making a "mod" called Fourth Frontier that involves giving an evolution for Second Stage Evolutions with BST lower than 500 (and for those who performs very poorly in competitive scenes), mostly Singles. In short words, making "Stage 3 Evolutions". I did not realized how well Ludicolo can performs in VGC format!
My Ludicolo Setup: Moves: Rain Dance Ice Beam Energy Ball Surf Item: Mystic Water (to boost power of surf, which is already boosted by the rain) Ability: Rain Dish (hence the move Rain Dance)
The thing about buffing ludicolo for singles is that you also don’t wanna buff doubles ludicolo. I think a good way to buff singles ludicolo would be to give it more support moves and a better ability. Haze would be a good start as having something that can ignore stat buffs would be nice or maybe a buffing move of its own, calm mind or amnesia I think would both work. As for abilities I would replace own tempo as it’s too gimmicky, as for a replacement I feel like natural cure would fit ludicolo as a Pokemon and be better in singles then doubles
Ludicolo with solar beam, hydro pump, ice beam, and hidden power fire. You can alternate hp fire out for weather ball for some fun shenanigans, too. I recommend choice specs for ludicolo in this set, so power is less of an issue. Trading out solar beam for giga drain is valid, since solar beam kinda requires sun to be super great.
I never cared about this pkmn but I love it since the detective pikachu trailer now that I tried it out it's actually pretty good competitively LUDICOLO!
Ludicolo: "Smogon Tiers bad, VGC good." May I also just say I wish Ludicolo got Aqua Ring and Ingrain so I could run this set? Ludicolo Rain Dish Leftovers Leech Seed Ingrain Aqua Ring Toxic Please Pokemon, please give me this
Meanwhile in Pokemon Go: Ludicolo functions as one of the best walls for water-types in PoGo; which, if you're familiar with PoGo even a little bit, means Ludicolo is the hardest wall for Azumarill in the Great League. Azumarill is THE best pokemon in Great League, so beating it so handily is huge. Unfortunately, there are better pokemon all-around that also counter Azumarill. Still, none of those counters is as good at walling the Water-type in general as Ludicolo is. And, Ludicolo's moveset allows it to be versatile: it can play a slower game with Bubble to try to set up with energy advantage, or a faster game with Razor Leaf to try to rush down foes. For these reasons, Ludicolo sees consistent--albeit not high--play in standard. It does make constant appearances at tournament cups, however, especially ones where Water-types will be prominent. Ludicolo caps its CP at under 2500, so most people think it's useless in the higher Leagues. While this is mostly true, in some tournament cups Ludicolo makes appearances as the ultimate Groudon/Kyogre counter. Ludicolo does little else, but its ability to consistently win the 1v1 against Kyogre and Groudon make it worth at least considering in some slant metas.
The videos are great. I'd like to ask for the rankings to be read from low to highest. As it is now it irkes me a bit. Aside from that these videos are great!
lol whoops
@ 12:44 I guess we got Exeggutor confused with Ludicolo for Kyle's team.
Our B.
Miror B. would be proud of this
i was wonder why no ludicola at that team XD
F
Awesome video, but shame on you for not using Miror B's theme. =P
🅱
Oh my God a Ludicolo who uses opponent's rain to outspeed them and use Sunny Day is freaking hilarious, I love it
I was also completely taken aback at that. Absolutely brilliant.
I honestly didn't expect THIS move being used of all things.
I may be getting ideas.
Galaxy brain level plays
Fucking madlad lmao
I used a rain/sun team 3 swift swim users and a torkoal exeggutor and sunflora with solar power

Ludicolo just doesn't care about tiers because it'll dance on your grave regardless.
I love using it on pokemon showdown
He will swift swim through your tears
Hell yeah he will! I welcome it. That wonderful pineapple duck
That seems to go for a few "goofy" Pokemon - Quagsire immediately comes to mind.
I finally know why ludicolo is good in doubles! It's because...
It take two to tango.
I'm not even mad. Good job.
He's not but I am so no your not allowed anymore
@@gunnemesisxxx7039 How can you say he's not good after this video ... Uber only user ? probably.
I meant the joke dude
I actually like ludicolo it hilarious to put him on a team with rain dish leftovers leech seed then just watch as your opponents quit
I love that the ridiculous looking Pineapple Sombrero Duck thing was such a monster in competitive
I love the fact that my favorite Pokemon in Gen 3 doing terrifically in VGC in all these years. I think I’m gonna cry. I’m so proud of Ludicolo!
Unique typing, always happy AND I'm sure can make a fine salsa!
Edit: Not to mention Miror B.'s XD theme.
I love Ludicolo. It's got such a wonderfully big smile that I couldn't help but pick it every time back when Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald were the current games. I haven't used one in quite a while, so I may have to use one in a personal playthrough at some point soon.

As a person who played VGC regionals back in the day, I actually remember playing against a couple of the players/teams you mentioned. How surreal.
I ran swift swim teeter dance ludicolo alongside a jellicent in doubles gen 5. Worked pretty well
I love Ludicolo (Nothing else to add here. Just really like him)

Damn I had no idea Ludicolo was actually usable. I just assumed this was a patron pick or something. You learn something new everyday.
You research on these videos is inspiring and your delivery makes them so much better keep it up they are awesome to watch
Mirror B is secretly a genius. Ludicolo has been a powerful double battle Pokemon for generations.
I didn’t realize ludicolo could actually be that that terrifying. Holy crap!
me either dude like you don't want to underestimate ludicolo's dancing abilities in battle

Not to make the VGC section any longer, but my brother won VGC 2012 and 2013 in the Houston Regionals with Ludicolo.
... Huh. I never knew how good Ludicolo was in doubles. Good vid~
the power of having the fastest fake out in VGC
Never would have guessed this pokemon would be such a consistent top level threat. Guess that's just how gimmicks work.
I love Ludicolo. It's a beast in doubles. He's one of the reasons I get over 100 win streaks in the Battle Frontier/Subway/Tree/etc.
Doubles Ludicolo is a beast.
My Ludicolo Setup:

I have numerous other favourite pokemon, but no other makes me as happy as Ludicolo. This thing is just fun made into a pokemon.
Strange mistake at 12:41, one team that doesn't have Ludicolo was listed as a notable placement.
Yeah I gave up on trying to make you say Yadiyadiyada. It's been over 100 days.
I might be incorrect, but I am dum
0:30 Wooooooah! Look at all those Rain Dances.
I'd LOVE to use Thunder and Hurricane in that fight.
Translation: so good they had to keep changing the rules
I think Ludicolo is a good mon, I'd only give it either more speed or more defense.
Also can you do Shiftry next?
It was my go to pokemon with my Blaziken and Gardevoir

When I saw the ludicolo toy I thought: "I'll buy it" but holy moly (at least today) the price was 50 dollars wtf
Did you buy it?
Impressive how good a mon is in doubles and how bad it is in singles
You should've used Mirror B's theme for the background music of this episode. Such a legendary track
I’m never gonna give up how good is BIDOOF actually
Nice video as always, love your content!
Ludicolos were always tough for me to deal with in the Battle Frontiers. My starmie could absolutely NOT get around them!
Should have done this next week for Cinco De Mayo

They should give it Dragon Dance and Quiver Dance. It's the dancing pokemon after all.

There's no such thing as a quad resist. It's a double resist. There has to be four of something to be quad.
Oh finally, someone said it! I've been silently stewing over that terminology for _months!_
@@gengarzilla1685 Start telling people then.
Quad because its multiplyed by .25, 1/4 of the normal damage, 4=quad. Normal resisting HALVES damage, so "quad resists" isn't inaccurate.
