Yes, thanks to the great eritreans that worked hard to construct the railway and preserve it till this day. The railway was also completely destroyed during eritreas war for independence but was rebuilt by eritreans.
@B0LEND0 Many thanks for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed them. And there is a few more to upload in this series. All the planning and choice of locations are down to Bernd Seiler of FarRail. He is undoubtedly the master of organising such tours. He is planning another trip to Eritrea in December. See the FarRail website for details.
Gondolas? Are we in Venice! Although there has been talk of reopening the railway for freight traffic, the rolling stock you see here are only used for special photo charters and tourist trains. Doug
The train was not a real service. It was put together specially for us to photograph. Hence, "fake" = "not real". In the UK, the Fake Sheikh was an infamous journalist who convinced celebrities he was a real sheikh and set them up to do something stupid and then filmed them being stupid. The films were then made public. He was sent to prison for perverting the course of justice -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazher_Mahmood I named the train in his dis-honour.
Eye Catching view.... love from INDIA
What a landscape! A joy to view. Thanks.
Italian -built railway and rolling stock; cars and loco made by Breda and Ansaldo in Italy ,still in great condition more than eighty years later
