as a long time rhythm gamer, having to watch an ad for missing a note is absurdly punishing, holy shit. thats egregious, number one way to make no one play your game 😬
What makes it more confusing is I’m pretty sure the older tile games actually gave u 3 “hearts” for missing tiles. Yes ud often be *able* to watch an ad after to respawn where u died tho u were *never* forced.
Oh just realised depending on how you look at it isnt this negative conditioning/reinforcement to make you better at the game? The punishment is watching an add every time lul Anyways its not that and its a cash grab just play osu droid or smthn
There are 3 game ads that immediately go to hell. Those that play ads every 30 seconds, those that play an ad after you click skip ad, and those that open the ad game in the app store automatically. I'm more likely to voluntarily watch an ad if it's a 100% optional thing to speed up a timer or something. Edit: After 2 1/2 hours, I've got a theory based on zero evidence. I think these "online multiplayer" games have not just bots, but also sock puppet players that work for these companies that play just enough to make it seem like real people are playing and it's not just empty maps against AI, but these employees have to play just good enough to keep you engaged, but still let the real players win to farm that "oh, that was close!" dopamine rush and keep them from being bored.
for subway surfers you can watch ads for a quite a couple of times but then they cut you off by saying you have to pay keys to continue ( i had a subway surfers addiction last year)
I miss piano tiles from when I was in school, I don't remember ever having to watch anywhere near that many (if any) ads, and you didn't have to pay money for 'VIP'. Back then, apps were generally free (with the odd payment for very very cheap) or you pay for the app for like 79p and that's that. Nowadays games offer VIP for weekly or monthly payments, extra game passes or boosts for 5-10 pounds/dollars and make you watch ads to get anywhere. I get that app developers need to be paid but a lot of the apps are just reskins of the same game and it's blatantly a cash grab and not any level of labour-of-love. I will gladly watch ads for a game that actually has some level of care put in and isn't forcing you to watch one every minute, but I've played many that are more advert than gameplay
If you want the original piano tiles experience, i'd recommend trying "Piano Tiles 2: UMod". It's basically a community-run mod of the original game and it has custom songs!
You can probably still find the original game outside of the store (though it might be less reliable on newer software). Same goes for the older angry birds games since rovio removed them from the face of the earth.
Project Sekai/Colorful Stage is a better game if you like Magic Tiles. Plus you can play multiplayer if you are competitive. What does Magic Tiles have to offer? Pop songs for ads? Project Sekai might only have Vocaloid songs but you don’t have to watch ads. It also has gacha for characters if you like gambling. And you can make custom profiles so you look cooler. You only ever have to pay if you want the payed money only gachas or if you want to unlock songs faster (you have the song tickets if you just play the game, you won’t need to pay if you play on a regular basis)
Project Sekai is fairly basic in terms of it's main gameplay, look into stuff like Phigros, Arcaea, Rotaeno, Cytus, Rizzline, etc all phenomenal in their own rights
I want to protect Subway Surfers, to an excent. It works offline. Most games don't now. So its great. You can only revive with ads a set amount of times. You can also use keys, but you get those for free, if you just play. In the events tab they have a classic mode, wich I assume also uses the old music. Anyway, Subway Surfers is my childhood, and I like them even tough they didn't accept me to their 3d animator internship.
One thing a lot of people don't realize is that when you buy the ad-free option in these games, 9 times out of 10 they still have the little pop-ups that say "watch an ad for a reward". So even the ad free versions of the games still have ads!
I paid for ad-free wordscapes and it shoves coin packages and other premium purchases in my face at EVERY possible chance. I don’t even use the powerups and stuff that you buy with coins, since if I’m really that stuck I’ll just toss the letters into an unscrambler lmfao That said, it does indeed still have “watch ad for a reward” options. They’re still trying to squeeze as much money out of my playtime as possible.
I don’t really see that as an issue, as it’s a side thing for a bonus that doesn’t require me paying. Ads are required for most app game makers to make money, but It’s ads that block gameplay that’s an issue.
@@Xenephos Ads are needed for a company to keep the game available to make money. The issue is the devs that halt gameplay to force one to watch an ad. I rather have the option to choose extras on the side without paying by watching an ad.
@justabearbrowsingyoutube4968 I'm not saying it's a huge issue, I'm saying it's misleading to say you can pay to remove ads only to then have watching ads continue to be a requirement to receive bonuses. There are plenty of great games, mobile or otherwise, that are able to make money off of selling the game for a one-time payment.

just listening to the video, it was so funny hearing "yeah i'm ready for the hard geometry dash level" [recognizes Blast Processing] this man is Not ready lol
Joinen failing wasn't what irritated me about watching that geometry dash lite gameplay... instead what annoyed me was that the music sometimes syncs with when you are supposed to jump but it seems like sometimes there is some delay and it doesn't sync anymore (despite the song restarting after every death so it should be in sync always... i guess it holds played in position either random time? Or there is inconsistency between when level is first started and when you respawn after death?). I assume it is game issue as death sounds seem to match when Joinen fails.
its just a editing problem, I heard stereo madness before and that is not what it sounds like. like the other person said its most likely copyright reasons, also they probably just replaced the music in the other levels too.
As someone who's been playing geometry dash for yearssss now, yea its a decent enough app and once you pay the thing you dont really have to pay more its a one time thing. But yea, skipping from first level to the last one in the free version will do that to you, they are good at gradually teaching you stuff each level but if you skip a lot you'll be pretty confused JSJSJSJS. The songs are all bangers though, straight up can listen to them outside the game with no problem.
You can hit it dead on and it will take you to the App Store anyway. This is an intentional move by the ad software so that it actually counts as an ad view for the advertiser.
Bro the ones i hate the most are those playable ads that are pretty decent for about 10 seconds before suddenly becoming unplayable, forcing you to go to the app store whenever you click on it after that point and so you have to sit there and do nothing for another 20 seconds just to get the prompt to close out the ad, but of course it only leads to another screen trying to get you to download that you have to wait an additonal 5 seconds just to actually close out. At a certain point i feel like you have to consider these like 3 different ads in a trench coat pretending to be one ad.

To be fair, while the games up there were bad, and there's better free games, you can't expect the games to be as good as Bloons, or Bad End Theater, or Pirates Outlaws, as those games cost money. are most people not aware that for a lot of games if you turn off wifi and put on airplane mode BEFORE opening a game, there should be no ads? some games have realized that people do this and won’t allow you to play without an internet connection but a lot of games, like the hotel game, can be played without ads. i usually play those type of games while watching tv (just ADHD things) and i will always put it on airplane mode with no wifi so i can just play it and watch my show and not have to bother with game ads.
I think the Top Grossing chart can sometimes help find premium games and ports like Minecraft/GTA/Stardew that otherwise can't get the same playerbase as free-to-play titles, so I wouldn't entirely call it a scam if you can look past all the gacha

It's very cute and fun tbh and I find myself actually liking the story/decorating portion as well lmao 😅
something i'm okay with about the subway surfers ad system is that you can actually get every cosmetic in the game so long as you keep up with it. i had a phase where i played it a lot, and while it took a decent amount of time to do, i could get every character and hoverboard per season so i wouldn't have to pay real money when it came back, and ads (to an extent) helped with that. there are still people spending money on the game, but i imagine a lot of their revenue relies on those ads, and if they were to remove them it would be kind of ... well, it would be a lot like games where you can only customize your character by shelling out tons of money. which would suck way more
It's children who are playing most of these and they probably fall down a rabbithole of playing whatever the next one that comes up on an ad is, on top of, possible, artificially inflated downloads in some way
The offline games app is pretty deceptive because it starts off looking like a completely free to play game with no ads, but thats actually just a trial for the premium version that they don't tell you about until you're already invested into the game.
The most annoying type of ad is like: Game: You lost, do you want to watch an ad to revive? Me: NO Game: too bad, here's an ad anyways, and you don't get the revive either
I miss my old apps from the iPhone 3/4 days. I had a Skeeball one that was really fun, and my dad had a port of Mrs. Pac Man that I always wanted to play while we were waiting at restaurants. Nowadays those two games would be filled with ads, gatcha, and micro-transactions.

I think these "online multiplayer" games have not just bots, but also sock puppet players that work for these companies that play just enough to make it seem like real people are playing and it's not just empty maps against AI, but these employees have to play just good enough to keep you engaged, but still let the real players win to farm that "oh, that was close!" dopamine rush and keep them from being bored.
i would love to be paid to play these games, where do i sign up lol
I'm pretty sure you can simulate whst you described with a bot too
for subway surfers you can watch ads for a quite a couple of times but then they cut you off by saying you have to pay keys to continue ( i had a subway surfers addiction last year)
I miss piano tiles from when I was in school, I don't remember ever having to watch anywhere near that many (if any) ads, and you didn't have to pay money for 'VIP'.
It's basically a community-run mod of the original game and it has custom songs!
the real piano tiles was taken down :(
me and my sister were in love with piano tiles and dancing line, i miss those games :(

I don’t even use the powerups and stuff that you buy with coins, since if I’m really that stuck I’ll just toss the letters into an unscrambler lmfao
That said, it does indeed still have “watch ad for a reward” options.

Idk it never did that for me and I have 250 hours

You can hit it dead on and it will take you to the App Store anyway. This is an intentional move by the ad software so that it actually counts as an ad view for the advertiser.
Bro the ones i hate the most are those playable ads that are pretty decent for about 10 seconds before suddenly becoming unplayable, forcing you to go to the app store whenever you click on it after that point and so you have to sit there and do nothing for another 20 seconds just to get the prompt to close out the ad, but of course it only leads to another screen trying to get you to download that you have to wait an additonal 5 seconds just to actually close out. There are very few instances where I'd say the games are truly Pay to Win mainly because the single player and competitive things are separate and they usually find ways to fix Pay to Win features. Of course if you want to be in the top of the arena In Kingdom or trophy race in Ovenbreak you need to spend some money but Tower of Adventures is a recent release and thus has no pay to win in it at all, and it's more multiplayer than it is competitive.
Also the games actually have effort in them and no ads unless you choose to watch them

something i'm okay with about the subway surfers ad system is that you can actually get every cosmetic in the game so long as you keep up with it. i had a phase where i played it a lot, and while it took a decent amount of time to do, i could get every character and hoverboard per season so i wouldn't have to pay real money when it came back, and ads (to an extent) helped with that. there are still people spending money on the game, but i imagine a lot of their revenue relies on those ads, and if they were to remove them it would be kind of ... well, it would be a lot like games where you can only customize your character by shelling out tons of money. which would suck way more
34:24 so I haven’t played this game in ages but from what i recall it only let you use the ad boost twice, then you died. Idk if that’s changed though
It's children who are playing most of these and they probably fall down a rabbithole of playing whatever the next one that comes up on an ad is, on top of, possible, artificially inflated downloads in some way

Game: You lost, do you want to watch an ad to revive?
Me: NO
Game: too bad, here's an ad anyways, and you don't get the revive either
WE NEED MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS PLEASE these are great to listen to at a desk job
Yeah I was always like "how tf are these shitty mobile games on the top charts " it almost feels like they are paying for the top
They're on top bc they have a lot of ads and revenue through their shitty system.
Hearing him scream NAR was the best thing ever 🤣
A two hour video about a random thing I haven’t given more than 2 minutes of thought in my life? I gotta see this
Just woke up, first thing I see is a new Joinen video. Life is dream
Also, played like 70% of these games lol
Where does the timer you use come from it looks really good
You sound like Lumpy Space Princess, and I mean it in the best way possible.
Unrelated but I’m oddly in love with your timer???
With subway surfers you do get a limited amount of times you can watch ads to continue. And if you go to the settings and click on the boombox you can choose from all the songs from the game. My favorite song is Shenzen showdown!
No more cargo shorts, we've graduated to cargo PANTS now
I love the longer videos! It's easier for me to get things done while having something in the background :)
"Hell yeah, new Joinen video- TWO HOURS?!"
With subway surfers, it used to not be a cash grab. You could watch an ad to revive ONCE then you had to have keys to go on. Now it's ads ads ads :(
