No content creator will ever reach out to someone randomly unless it's to do with a potential collaboration. If, seemingly, one ever messages you first then it is 100% not them. I advise putting the word "fake" in the title before Star Wars Theory to avoid the people who are dense enough to just read a title and run with it. Also the dude gets enough hate videos that accuse him of all sorts, modifying the title a bit could save him some stress- even if that stress would only last as long as it takes to click the video. Thanks for making people aware of this!
He'll be okay. Hope the thumbnail doesn't give the wrong impression. My video explains everything anyway. Scammers will focus on any high profile TH-camr, could be Mr.Beats, Jake Paul, they do not discriminate, just scam.
@@DylWelcomeBot my situation was different. Fake SWT liked my comment about the ghost haslab review. I reached out to him saying i appriciate his work and his reaction to my comment. The rest was the same routine after that. Had he reached out to me first, i would have known it was a scam ASAP. I got suckered by AI videos.
It may be a scam, but not because of the hours you suggest. SW Theory stays up all night all the time. He worked Night shift previously. If you watch him long enough you hear him say "Went to bed at 7am" etc, etc. He also had sleeping problems for a while too.
I think the scammers must have done a lot of research on SWT, because I was asking them questions about SWT and his Channel, and they had done their homework for sure.
Critical thinking, folks. SWT is a professional channel. Scam pages will always have slightly altered names (Star wars theory, Star.Wars theory, Star Wars.Theory, etc) and their messages will usually have a few or many spelling and grammatical errors. The page itself will also have few to no posts, pictures, or followers.
Ideally the clues are there when these scammers are asking for shipping fees for a so called prizes give away. Any prize company give away would pay for the shipping fees plain & simple. Thanks for the heads up though. I won a competition give away a few years ago for a custom Wireless PC game pad & i was NEVER asked to pay for shipping. BTW I'm in the UK & the Company i entered the competition was USA based !!
Yeah, that's the crux of the scam, they put very expensive prizes in front of your face, then politely ask you to pay for the shipping (which is not much when you considered the prize you have one). I do hope not too many folks fall for this.
I fell for the scam.they're using AI videos of SWT saying your name. Unbelievable. What a waste of time and money. I feel blindsided by these bastards.
Lol, he's still trying it to this day. He asks if you're subscribed and dodges questions 😂 red flag being he's agenda driven when he talks and comes off like he's not trusting of others.
made the mistake of adding one of the accounts to friends list, went through most of this same stuff but as soon as they showed laptop as well as a saber i knew it was a scam, dont know why i thought he would have time to use facebook.
its an old scam you normal get it on facebook from a friends acc that's been hacked they ask how how are you then come back and say they see youre name on a list of winners did you know about that lol when that happens instantly block them
I think he made a shorst video about it some months ago, I guess this scam has been going on for a many months. He should really say something on a main video, and also report it to the authorities.
Another win for AI! More tools to make it easier for scammers on the internet. It's only going to get harder to determine fact from fiction as AI improves. Be vigilant. MTFBWY
I am all for advancements in technology, it fascinates me, but the rate that AI advances quality-wise in every field... voice, video, music, "art", intelligence- it's a danger. It's even more horrifying when you acknowledge that AI is accessible to EVERYONE and not just the top tech companies. Everyone glamorises the idea of Halo like AIs but fail to focus on the overwhelming and ever-growing list of ways that it will shaft everyone. You aren't going to have your own Cortana, you are going to end up with someone who isn't even a someone and is really just 1s and 0s programmed to scam you.

Good advice, always check out the person's profile page in depth first!!!
I love their sabers . Good quality and reasonable with their prices
Man, I'd love one!!!! I only have the Dark Saber from Hasbro, not so high end ^^
He met one of his followers in a shop who got scammed posing as him. He shared it in a video clip on IG.

@@ReturnOfTheNerdStarWars Indeed. Hope they don't fall to when they ask to pay for the shipping which is a big fail.

I don't get it. Didn't you look at the profile? Surely you could tell it was fake by the posts, number of followers, lack of verification, etc.?

the AI video is quite convincing though, almost had me with that 😅
Glad u blocked him... I had the exact same with him. i did however block instantly.
I was so naiive at first because of the AI Video, otherwise I would have blocked immediately too.
@@ReturnOfTheNerdStarWars that AI video got me good too. Don't feel bad. this is a new threat that is much harder to detect.

@ Gotchya. It just seems like you should be able to head to his channel and see some info about it. Just seems kinda sketchy
