Happy 7th Anniversary!🌷 Sadly, it was announced officially on 22nd September, last Tuesday, that there won't be a Singer 2021. This year's is the last, after 8 years😔 I think(pls correct me if I'm wrong) Hua named the 2 songs differently: he rearranged that theme song, originally without lyrics for a TV series, on the programme The Next is called 齐天大圣 Qi Tian Da Sheng, the one he composed the music for the movie with 3 lyricists is the OST 齐天 Qi Tian. I saw some differentiate them by- 齐天大圣 'Great Sage Equal to Heaven' and 齐天 'Heaven's Equal' And I love both, actually all of Hua's songs. Never like rap till Hua's. Clear and precise at break- neck speed!👍 There are many TV series, cartoons, plays and movies about Wukong. Every other year, there will be at least one production. Wukong and The Journey to the West are very popular and well loved traditional Chinese folklore.

The show also got a boost in viewership because of him - considered “controversial” - as viewers were piqued and intrigued. It’s not that he does things his way that no one could follow. It’s mainly due to most other artists unwillingness to explore, to widen their repertoire fearing the rejection of listeners. Plus their companies would control what they can produce while Hua Hua has been given a lot of freedom with his music. He has publicly said and I paraphrase: “it’s ok if some people don’t like my songs. I create for my own satisfaction. If there are some people who like the music I composed then it’s also ok”. So his great passion and understanding of music plus his fearlessness and freedom, and the other artists’ restrained and restrictions made Hua Hua a class above the ordinary 😍😍😍

Hua was not planning to join SInger 2018, he refused the show many times, but the producer asked him to join. That's why he started to compete from the EP4. This song is a theme song for the movie "Wu Kong" (Monkey King), he sings a whole story in this song.
Happy Birthday! 'Great sage equals to Heaven' was written in 24hr based on the BGM from the very classic drama of 'Journey to the West'. Hua wrote that song for a live audience hence it is much more interactive, and he wrote it with the drama character of a very carefree and rebellious WuKong in mind. The director of the movie 'WuKong' approached Hua after hearing that version, and wanted him to write for the title song of the movie. Hua watched the trailer of the movie and felt that this WuKong is very different from WuKong in the drama. There is sadness in this character that was not present in the drama. He then wrote Qi Tian with thiis character in mind, and this song he wrote is meant as an ending song for the movie. So there is no interaction portion in this version, and the aim is to keep the movie audience engaged in the mood of the movie through till the end.
The lyrics and the story behind them were so inspiring and meaningful. ‘Equal to Heaven’ was related to the epic story of Monkey King (Sun Wukong as his name) fighting against evil forces , seeking truth and Buddhist scriptures in a classical novel called Journey to the West. At the beginning of the story, he called himself ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’ leading a group of monkeys located in Flower and Fruit Mountain and dared to challenge the authority of Jade emperor of heaven. Then he got defeated and trapped under Five-Finger Mountain transforming from fingers of Buddha. After 500 years, Tang Monk of Tang Dynasty came to save him, so Monkey King and other 2 guys helped Tang Monk fight against evil forces , seek truth and finally obtained the Buddhist scriptures. It was a really moving and inspiring story.
What a birthday treat! There are so much more of Hua. The show The Next season 1 and 2 may have been where he was recognized for his creative talents in rearrangement of covers. He was asked to do many variety shows and the Next is what he chose because he could show and challenge his creative side. I really love going back to his Superboy 2013 where he debuted to see where he quickly became popular with the Martians as you could really see his raw performance that showed his vocals.
My favorite song! U finally reacted to this 💕 "Qi Tien" means Equal to Heaven in Chinese which is the honorific title of the Monkey King ( original named Wu Kong). There are many songs and stories about the Monkey King. However, most of them are about how strong or how mischievous or trouble maker he is. I loved the way Hua Hua interpreted the story of the Monkey King. The soft part shown his confuses and the rap part shown his fight (to his fate). The song was interlaced with these two parts shown the conflict of the Monkey King. Although rock rap part is very strong, the whole song is a little bit sad, especally the ending humming. Genius!!

The needle may have moved an inch but his annual concerts from 2015 - 3 nights for each (Mars Concerts with 80000 plus Martians per night) are sold out within seconds. Funniest thing was when he tried buying a ticket for his concert and couldnt get one lol. No concert this year :( because of covid so we assume that his holiday was filled writing the most amazing music that he wants us to hear :)

Hua Hua was already a well-known public figure in 2018, because he was the champion of a TV show Superboy in 2013 and after he appeared in a few TV programmes like “Divas Hit the Road”, “The Next”, “Come Sing with Me”, “Flowers on a Trip”. They know him but some don’t know his body of work because rock isn’t very popular in China. Of course, we do get pockets of population who does but still not mainstream. I’m not from China so don’t really know whether his songs received a wide air play over the radio. Apparently where I’m from where we do have a few Chinese language stations, his songs do not get much air time because they aren’t about romance and heartbreak.
