Two additional tips.. 1) After its full, turn it upside down, open the bite valve and gently squeeze out the air. That reduces its size a bit and puts an end to sloshing. 2) Get the UTA attachment. It connects to the end of the tube and allows you to refill without even taking the pack off. Easypeasy.
I like your points. I wish they would update this video. They recommend the wide one like you are saying but they don’t sell it in the store. They only have the cap 3L.
The problem with that is that you have water in the hose which heats up in the summer or can freeze during winter. The insulation helps a bit but it can't do wonders so many people blow the water back into the bladder after they're done drinking.

Kinda bummed as my Gr1 I just bought doesn't have the hole between the 2 compartments, really limits my ability to use the pack as intended. Is it only on the 21l, I purchased the 26l
Tye Browning Thanks Tye, Just got back from a week in Colorado and it seem to work good on the trail and when camping. I used the laptop compartment with the 3 liter wide bladder even though it wouldn't close all the way but it was fine. Higher the Altitude the better the Attitude 😎
It's got many names.Some call it bladder strap or bladder tab or bladder clip. If your ruck doesn't have it,you can use a piece of paracord or bungie cord and secure your bladder to the top.
Is there any way I might be able to purchase a hydration bladder attachment piece separately? I tried to make my own and it didn't really work out. Thanks

The Universal Tube Adapter from Source Hydration + the top of a water bottle = quick filling all day.
I just got mine today and didnt think it had that feature. that velcro is STRONG

Nice! I've been using a Camelbak in my Rucker and refills with the hose attached is a pain, so I just ordered a Source bladder :-D
One of the downsides of the top-loading part is that if you suspend it when it’s full, the bladder sometimes shifts and leaks from the top.
