And you're on social media to tell us how bad it is. lol I'm 75 years old, and I would have loved to had cell phones way back then. Cell phones save lives when your car breaks down and you have to try and find a phone in the dark. Social media is only as bad as the person that is using it.

One can’t help but feel drawn to these times. Easy for me to say, I’m old enough. These were good times, times of my youth I remember like it was yesterday. Different times than the present time, not better, not worse, just different and for those of us who lived through those days, great times in our country. Gas was 25 cent a gallon. 15 cent for a cup of coffee. It tasted better for some reason, but I cannot tell why. My car was a 1953 Crown Victoria. Did 100 miles per hour in that thing one day in one of my foolish youthful moments. Life goes on, I know, today is today and I’m up to date technologically, but cannot forget those days. So let it be said.

My uncle worked the shipyards during WW2 as a plumber, he and a fellow plumber from Oklahoma became fast friends. In late 44 work started to slowdown, uncle tells friend, let’s go to my home town and work, the family owns a plumbing company, so they do. That is how I met their son, my age.
Sometime in 1945, the son tells me,”My dog which we left in Oklahoma, in 1943 was barking at the door this morning.”
After school I went home with him, here was an old hound, footsore going to the vet.
The question was never answered. How did the dog find them?

It seems like such a simple time to live without the complications of today. We forget the negatives! The rattletrap cars with no air conditioning, manual shift! The hot houses with no air conditioning. The barely operating refrigerators that constantly iced up. The stinking half rotten meats from the store. The moldy bread. Washing clothes in the old fashioned wash tubs. And hanging the clothes out to dry, only to have a rainy day. Too many more to list! We are lucky today!

    • @justdoingitjim7095

Maybe, but I remember when my mom would give me a dollar and send me to the corner store. I'd come back with a loaf of bread, a pound of cheese, a pound of lunch meat, 3 large baking potatoes and a pack of chewing gum. Cant do that anymore...everyone has security cameras now! 😳

Notice people noticing how things were different, better, etc. What's funny and interesting is that every generation longs for "the good old days" it seems. The effect of Sin hasn't worn off the wonder of life as is the case with the old and dying. Only one way to the innocence of childhood - We MUST be Born Again !+!

The image at 20:09 is a stolen and mutilated work of art. "Crossroads Store, Persons County, North Carolina - 1939" by Dorothea Lange. This is one of Lange's most famous photographs and is a BLACK & WHITE image. For someone to smear color paint all over it is an abomination, and the worst kind of insult to the artist. Why not also spray paint over the Mona Lisa?!!
