Its a privilege to watch from afar these guys in Ireland in this era, Mullins and Obrien. I watch racing all over the world and Ireland is really at the forefront in training and breeding operations. The likes of Joseph and Donnacha on the flat, its not surprising that they both seemlessly moved in to the top level of the training game, they grew up in Ballydoyle, its all they know, such a rare experience at that level and they will dominate flat racing for a long time to come i think as a result. Same goes for the Mullins family and team, not many get to see the workings of elite and groundbreaking operations, its not chance that the same people keep winning. To win punting you need to study the best and get on before the market knows their good ones and their targets. But they dont come out and tell you, need to work it out yourself.
Energumene and Gauloise look like Mullins new superstars but neither have fully revealed it yet, Gauloise could be one for the champion hurdle next season, real 2 miler, top class specimen, speed, electric jumping, turn of foot and stays strongly. Will take something to give her 7 pounds at 2 miles when shes the finished article next season.
