    Hello, Mr. Ireland. I appreciate your amazing comparison video. I am a Sire guitars founder. As a sound developer, let me tell you something. L7 is Single-cut guitar, Naturally a little bit muddier. Normally The double-cut guitar has a sharper tone. It's slightly different. We can see this fact in this video. Sire has a plan to release double-cut Mahogany body guitar as well in the future.

    Just found your channel - I'm looking at buying a Sire and was interested. I actually own a Sire V7 Jazz bass and love it, and as I'm mostly a bass player there's no point in my spending £4000 or so on a guitar that I use mostly for backing tracks, so it seems that the Sire might well be on my radar. Thanks for the video, and for some very tasty (and tasteful) playing. It makes a nice change not to have to listen to high gain playing all the time :-)

    I love Prs and own 2 highend models.
    The 594 is one of their premium models which pro players are raving about.
    That being said the Sire LC is not too far off in looks and sound and for the price it's absolutely great value.
    I agree that this is a super gigster while keeping the 594 safely tucked away at home.

    I own two Sire’s, a L7 and an S7, they’re both amazing!
    I am looking for an H7, but they’re out everywhere… for the moment.
    Also, I own several core PRS and a few SE’s and they’re all great guitars.
    There is soooo much too be had in the sub $700 guitar market that it’ll make your head spin!
    No more “expensive” (over $1000) guitars for me, as in total I have 57 guitars and the newest breed of guitars are simply stellar and there’s no reason that everyone can have a decent guitar and for a modest price.
    Great video and thanks again!

    That was a great video Glenn thanks for your work on that. I think these guitars sounded very similar oddly enough, which is quite a feat for Sire to do that. I love PRS myself I have five, but man these Sire's for the money are crazy good. I am not sure if I was blindfolded I could tell these apart except for I think I prefer the top end of the Sire a little. It reminds me of the early Santana tone before he started playing PRS guitars. I don't own a Les Paul I had one before and just didn't bond with it but for the money I think I will have to get one of these baby's in the near future. Thanks again for your excellent job and great playing by the way.

    Both nice sounding guitars...it sounds like the dc resistance is higher on PRS which gives it a bit more crunch on both front and back pups..however what I did appreciate is the honest way you fronted and tested both. Closing my eyes I liked the clarity of the Sire L7. It produced a cleaner definition in both the lower mids and the upper mids... however, PRS had more low end grind, but it also lost its definition as you punched harder.. This could also be in the amplifier being used too.. Overall... they are different and I really depends on the sound you are looking for.. I own a PRS and a couple of LPs too.. but I think I may just add that L7 to my arsenal as I did really like those pups.. Thanks for a honest and great review.

    Let´s be absolutely honest here: 99,9% could not tell a difference in tone, if you would do a blindfolding test despite what they claim.
    Thomann online store over here in good ol´ Europe sells this model for 550 Euros ( approx.589 $ ) and they throw in some free shipping for the EU countries, which is insane value for money. Specially considering the specs like bone nut, locking tuners, rolled off frets/fingerboard, ergonomic neck heel, a proper headstock angle & a volute ( things that Gibson has never heard off). I´m actually tempted to get the Sire L7 "Black Beauty"-replica, drop a Duncan "Hotrodded" set & a chrome scratchplate/pickup rings and turn it into a John Sykes tribute model.

    Oh man! I’m glad I came across this video because I was looking at the Sire Line of guitars by Larry Carlton. This was a fantastic demo of what the Sire could do. I may buy one now after watching your video. It was crisp in the higher frequencies and not sharp at all. Had a decent amount of bottom end as well. For $600 this a working musician’s guitar. just found your channel, decent match up here. Leaving you this comment as I pause before your comments after you finished playing both...I hear the L7 as more open/airy, cleaner on all pickup settings...the PRS is an amazing instrument...I've owned and played a couple PRS 24 Customs, wonderful wonderful wonderful guitars...
    Having said that, the Sire L7 blows me away. To MY ears, right out of the box, it has tone and quality fit/finish to easily rival instruments 5-7 times it's price!...and that's NO joke. I've ordered essentially the same Tobacco burst model you play here...I'm very excited to get my hands on it! a bargain at 5 times the price!

    Great job. I have a Sire S7 HSS in Sherwood Green and have an L7 in tobacco burst due in this month from Pitbull Audio. Great store for gear. Your PRS 594 and the L7 sound pretty similar. The biggest difference in tone may be because of the one being a Singlecut. The L7 is definitely a bit warmer sounding I'm pretty much all the positions ,but they both sound great and your playing very appropriate for being able to really listen and focus in on the pickups . Great job Glenn. Oye Como Va vibes

    Well done comparison video. There’s little doubt that your PRS is drop dead gorgeous in build quality and sound. That L7 held it’s own quite well. I enjoy your playing and see in the comments that I wasn’t the only one who heard some Carlos flavor. With good players like yourself, I’m reminded that tone all starts with the hands. Did I hear 6x the difference? No. Would I still like to own a high end PRS? Yes, someday, but I’ll likely add the Sire to my arsenal first. I don’t like when a top player does a shoot out and leaves us with personal review commentary beyond “please post your thoughts and click the like button” I appreciate your personal thoughts. I own a Sire R7 acoustic and am very happy with its unamplified and amplified sound. Like you, I didn't want to accidentally damage my nearly $4000 Taylor 814ce. Surprisingly, the R7 which cost about $850, is made of a solid spruce top and high quality Indian rosewood back and sides with beautiful mother of pearl inlay and neck and body binding worthy of a guitar several times its price. I'm glad I bought it when I did because they don't sell them any more, opting for the less expensive, less ornate Larry Carlton models. While the finish of the Taylor is of a higher quality, the Sire's finish in spots is less refined. However, for the price difference and beauty, it punches above its weight. Now, looking at their electric guitar offerings, it's tempting to buy a couple because they look and sound very good. Thank you for the review. Just thought I'd share my experience with a product of Sire's.

    You did an excellent job in your comparison. Both sounded great. I am a PRS guy and could easily be convened to also be a Sire guy. That said, and for those really on a budget, if possible, please do a true comparison of affordable guitars, the Sire L7 vs. the PRS SE 245 Standard; they are comparable in looks, style, and cost. What about performance??

  • @jetset9561
    @jetset9561 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I picked up the H7 - Larry Carlton's Signature 335 body from Sire and it's amazing. The only problems I know about with these guitars is that some of them come with a bit too much fretboard colour on them and my fingers were black using the H7 the first few weeks - now that has rubbed off it still looks like a really nice ebony neck so no major issues with that which soap and water couldn't fix.
    The other issue is they seem to have added treble bleed circuits to all the guitars - this means that the volume pots don't really taper off in a smooth manner - on the Les Paul and Strat Models it's easy to get to them if you want to remove them - on the 335 not so much.
    I'd be keen to know Glenn what you think about the neck on the Sire L7 - I've heard good things that it's a great satin finish but mainly that the cutaway carve at the body means you have good access to the upper frets. That's something I'd really like to try for myself as I can't get on with a real Les Paul because of the poor access to the higher frets.

    In my absolutely subjective opinion, regarding clean sound, both guitars sound similar in the neck position; in both pickups clean, I like Sure better, and clean bridge, I definitely like Sire better.
    In overdriven, I like both in the neck position. For both pickups, I like both guitars, but I like a little better the Sire. And for the bridge position, I like definitely better the PRS.

    Ordered a L7 a month ago from Musician Friend but won’t have any in stock till September. Ok, both sounded similar except the bridge pickup. I thought the L7 bridge sounded more rounded 🤷🏾‍♂️. I have played the 594 at my local Sam Ash which plays nice and have owned several PRS’s in the past from SE,S2 and Core all played great but it took awhile for me to find a tone that I really liked. My favorite one I own is the David Grissom DGT the split sounds great also. But I’ve been playing my S2 594 Thinline a lot that I gotten last year. It’s sooo easy to play thin neck if you like that type. Very SGish. Of course I love PRS’s for the stability, stays in tune like a champ. Ok.. I’m rambling but this was a cool comparison video for musicians that either can’t afford the PRS or to show you that you don’t need one to do what you need to do. But as guitar players… One guitar is never enough 😆

    I've heard good things about the Sire guitars across the board, but the thing that struck me was that the similarity in the instruments probably is due more to your playing than anything else. That's not a criticism by the way, you play great! I guess what we can take from it is the Sire will not limit or hold the player back compared to an instrument 5x in price. Thought it looked great as well

    The Sire L7 is a great instrument and with a little set up and attention it plays and sounds like the guitars costing thousands more. I liked the L7 so much I had to get 2. The white and tobacco burst. Blind shootout I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference sound wise, especially in a full band mix. The Sire L7 offers a whole lot of guitar for the price.

      I have both and trust me, to the ear the Mcarty wants to rock and performs better in that genre because of its incredible sustain. It takes some getting used to. I agree with you but largely because of what he’s playing. I don’t care for the Mcarty Pups.

    I'm returning my sire l7.... I found the bridge pickup sounded really harsh. Also the sustain wasn't very good. Maybe setup, I don't know. All in all not my guitar.... Did you have the tone turned down for this?

    • @sid35gb
      @sid35gb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sustain on the L7 is good but I had to adjust the truss rod first because it came loosened off probably for shipping. So when I took it out of the box and played it, it was a dog but spent some time on setting it up replaced the factory strings, gave the frets a polish, cleaned and put lemon oil on the Ebony fretboard set the action and truss rod and tweaked the pick height my preference is to back off the bass side and get closer on the treble side for neck and bridge.
      I own a number of Gibson guitars all of them have questionable setups out of the box so I wasn’t fazed by having to setup the L7 but what surprised me is the L7 plays and sounds better then any guitar I own or have played to date. That being said not all guitar players are confident or have the time to setup their instruments.

    The PRS sounds a little better in all areas to me but the SIRE sounds very good in all areas too. I am an intermediate level player and can't see spending $4K but the PRS will hold it's value and your kids could inherit it to either play or sell. Like Glenn, I wouldn't take a $4K guitar out or even leave it on the stand in the house with grandkids running around. There are loads of very good guitars in the $400 to $1,200 range - SIRE, PRS SE, Fender players series, epiphones, schecter, G&L tribute, Fender Squier, and many more are all good. I have the satin PRS S2 singlecut and paid $1,050 for it and love it. No fancy top but I like the simple look and it plays and sounds great.

    Incredible neck pickup on the 594, but think the Sire was comparable on middle and bridge. Easy listening. Great music. Of course TH-cam makes it a little tighter, but if you only had the Sire, and played this music, I would be happy with the tone and sound of the Sire. For me I would need a more expensive guitar. But that neck pickup clean on the 594 is magic, I think. How do they compare for playablility (neck, frets, nut, tuners)?

    I understand why you compared the PRS 594 to the Sire L7. I have the Sire H7, and it is just as nice as my $4500.00 Gibson 335, only I spent an additional $300.00 setting up my 335! You forgot to mention that the Sire guitars play well right out of the box, fit & finish as well as playability, far superior to most new guitars.

    • @glennireland9630

    Nice Santana-ish demo, but you rolled off the volume pots on the Sire to "compensate" for low-wind pups on the PRS?!? Can't get a fair comparison that way. What's the DCR's on the PRS then? On the Sire they're 7.9K Bridge and 7.5K as Phil McKnight measured them, fairly low wind. So, we can assumed the Sire sounds even better than in this demo - given how a humbucker guitar really opens up from 8.5 to 10. Measure the PRS DCR's open both guitars to full volume and cut another demo, to be fair.

    • @glennireland9630
      @glennireland9630  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did roll them back in fact. The Sire pups are very hot. I have posted them very low. I know that the next generation of LT's have been modified recently.
