There is a hill near my house with a 28% gradient, but only 50 feet of gain. I thought about doing a half Everest on that, but quickly decided that I don’t have the will power nor the strength. Props to Phil for taking this difficult task on yet again!
I just bought one of those Lexus's for my wife! Never noticed you had one in previous videos. They are great and I agree that it's a bummer all the new cars are so huge.
I did the #MizMal cycling route, south to north, along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland, with Wild Atlantic Cycling. Tremendous cycling! You cannot beat it. I also stayed in Dublin. It was awesome as well! I did cycle the climb where the Everesting Record was set. Great view on the other side!
Los Gatos hill is near my neck of the woods. I've only scouted it in my car, thus far. It is badass. I hope to make an attempt to climb it on the bike later this year. Just once. Not for 8 hours. ;)
Don’t know when or where you plan to do a everesting Phil BUT are you likely to do the challenge in the night/dawn for cooler conditions, less traffic and less wind if that a factor.......I’m sure you’ve thought of these anyways?!?! And if you want to come to Ireland you’ll have to be smuggled in.......😀😂😜
The road is super narrow and the descent is very dangerous, with tight and off-camber corners that you can't really fly down safely. Doesn't seem like a good choice.
you should find a rollercoaster and just coast up and down, bit of pedaling. i wonder if you have to have your bike on a road. make it go on a roller coaster track with attachments and you could ride that.
It would be nice if you'd do some time on the TdF and team/race strategy. What do the pro riders think about the dorks that run beside them? The crowds?
That's critical to the strategy, maybe your not aware. Elevation gain has to be grades 12%+ to get the right el. gain based on time spent doing it to beat the record. Otherwise, hard to know what the heck your point is other than to suggest you weren't up to speed on key Everesting strategy.
Phil, Could you stage some flag people near those corners on Los Gatos to hold up green or red flags so you can use the entire road when green lighted? Good luck.

Just ride from Bishop to the top of White Mountain 3 times via Silver Canyon road and White Mountain Road, you will need a gravel bike...and body armor for the descent.

@@justinjewell1043 Actually, I genuinely think Phil hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of getting this record. It is far too fast. Hey Phil, why don't you just take the information about your ideal climb to Strava, Garmin, USGS, or Cal DOT and ask them to do a Geographic Information System (GIS) search for it? Might save you from driving all over.
That creak for 8 hours would drive me insane though :D

Sorry I had not seen that it was a half Everest. 290 reps is still a lot lol
I've attempted to ride up Los Gatos twice. Both times I had to walk a bit of it. That hill is crazy steep.
I’ve only gone down it. Then around to Rancho California to get out of that valley.

Temecula - home of many motocross pros, who also train on bicycles. Also, if you're weaving across the road, I'm probably walking. That looks steep!
I rode up Gatos on a tandem with a strong partner up front! I never looked up, just turned the pedals.

I dunno Phil, descending Los Gatos--those telephone/power poles so close to the road--one wrong move and SPLAT!
Your bike will fit inside the hatchback. BB creak? Got to fix that!
Any time your car gets broken into or towed, have that baby detailed as soon as you get it back.
