@@anotherwarren7994 I can so relate. I watched someone else's video on how to install MySQL, i watched Alex's own, i uninstalled the MySQL installer and installed it again about 4 times while deleting the packages from the previous installation.
It was just a rollercoaster of trying and trying again and believing I could get it.
I had to stop being anxious, took breaks in between, told myself I could get it right, all of these took about 5 days though.
And voila, I noticed at some point, i and Mr. Alex's video were at the same place and it became successful.
Just keep trying and be patient. Don't be in a hurry. Take your time and make sure there are no errors for each installation process.

@@445Larry You have to keep trying it. Take breaks in between and make sure there are no errors during each stage of the installation process.
Also, try another video on installing MySQL from someone else on TH-cam. Maybe it'll help.

For those wondering why you can't get his 8.0.32 version of mySQL and cant get the developers default version, at 1:06 click on archives and scroll to the release that he is using.

I was struggling with the same problem, but I have selected version 0.32 and 'Developer's Default' and it's still missing.
I have a mac, but it does not give me an option to choose the "Mac" option when i hit the drop down button on the select operating system. Is anyone else having that issue? what should I do ??

we have an option: Select the archives folder, in which u can select mac os version for your system. If your OS IS mac 12.7.5 you select mac os 13 or you can select mac os12. But everything you should find in archives folder...

Hi, Alex. Thank you so much for your videos. They are sooo informative and I (we) are learning so much from you. Please, note that in the video, at 7min:15s, you show the Navigator > Schemas panel with the databases. At least in my case, when I open the mySQL application it actually shows the Navigator > Administrator panel, which shows a completely different view. It took me a while to notice the two tabs (Administrator | Schemas) on the bottom part of the Navigator panel, which your video does not indicate. Thanks again so much for your work!!

Use custom set up and select SQL Server and SQL Documentation that should work to get your set up done.

Hi Alex, may I have some questions?
I have multiple large tables in CSV format. Usually, I will handle my CSV using Python or R, but this time, my local machine can't handle the data, so I'm learning about AWS RDS. So far, I have imported the large CSV to MySQL Workbench and done some computations (e.g., sum, mean, etc.). The next step is to make some visualization using the computation result. Should I:
1. Export the result to AWS S3, then sync it to SageMaker for using a notebook instance for visualize the result, or
2. Connect the SageMaker notebook to AWS RDS directly for visualization?

For the developers option problem, what has worked with me so far is choosing the full option, then even if you have any errors keep going back and trying again, and trust me that would eventually work. And you’ll find yourself on the same steps as Alex
Hello. I'm struggling A Lot here on MacOS. I got passed all the obstacles so far except not being able to run the program with the lightning bolt or shortcut as the icons after open and save are like grayed out.

When downloading from the MySQL Community Downloads 1:06 , click on Archives, and you can select the appropriate version from there. A kind individual suggested this on my comment. Hope it helps.
I was working through this playlist (just started). I went to the next video and the entire playlist changed to MySQL haha. In my opinion it's a massive upgrade. I like MySQL much more. Also the switch from The Office to Parks and Rec is hilarious to me

Use the FULL Option
@@AlexTheAnalyst In full option we get a error where we get hanged and SQL server won't come up so using custom as alternative is also better option. I was able to spin my SQL server and connection was successful for me.

I can't download your version of sql on my Mac with the link you provided. I have a different version of sql but it's very difficult to follow along as it looks totally different to the version you are using as someone brand new to this. Any suggestions?

I somehow backtracked and ended up following your tutorial on SQL Server Management all the way through the beginner module not realizing this was the one I had originally started, lol. Is MySql the new industry standard? How do I get the sakilla schema?

Hi Alex, I'm really looking forward for this series. Anyway, I have a question, what is the difference between MySQL and the previous SQL software that you use in the previous SQL course? Is the previous one similar to MSSQL or is it different?
Same, I just finished the old MySQL serie videos, but not sure what is the difference with this whole new serie of videos.
@@juanmanuelarevalomadrid1937 It turns out that the previous series was about MSSQL, not MySQL. The current series is in MySQL. There are a few differences between MSSQL and MySQL, such as their syntax. Hope this helps🙌🏻

Thankyou Alex for a great starting tutorial. At work I have to move from my Access database to MySQL after working with that student Db for near on 16 years, goodbye old friend. Anyway, I tried installing MySQL on my own yesterday at work and couldn't get it right. Looked for some tutorials, but they were either hard to understand the accent or too old a version of MySQL. Today I found your tutorial, which helped me install it on my home PC in no time and I'm now up and running. (Will have to fix it up at work on Monday). I look forward to the next tutorial, as soon as I can get a chance. BTW, Parks and Rec are one of my favourite shows. Thanks again.

Thanks Alex for all of the tutorials, but i am having some difficulty in installing the sql server in my dell latitude laptop, windows 10. when the page for installation pops up, it does nt have the Developers options just as i saw in the video. what could possibly be wrong ?

Hi Alex, nice video thanks man, I have a problem, I don't understand why my installation setup didn't include developer default option, it shows server only, client , full or custom, I have opted for full and the version is 8.0.36, does that cause any issue or is it ok?

I chose both full and custom options but couldn't make a server connection in both cases it was always a " failed connection"
i downloaded but didn't get developer default option while installing except that every other option was available.

I faced exactly this problem, and after doing everything I thought possible and it still didn't work, I simply downloaded MySQL Workbench directly. I hope it works for you too.

Yeah that's the same issue I had. His videos are for mySQL and Microsoft SQL Server and they both run on windows. I saw that the Microsoft one can be run through Docker if you're on a Mac but I was really hoping to not add a bunch of steps just to get started.

I would like to know, what if we the data set we got from Kaggle got deleted on our PC, will it affect the data on our database on the MY SQL server? does the database on MYSQL server gets affected if the dataset downloaded on the PC gets deleted?
No, unless you go to refresh your data - then it will try to connect back to the source file and find nothing resulting in an error.
