Honestly I was impressed with how he handled his boss. He wasn’t disrespectful, didn’t make excuses or get angry, just calmly asked if someone else could do it. And the GM said sure. That’s solid communication.
Either there’s a mutual trust there where the GM understands that if this employee says he can’t perform a task that this is genuinely the case, or he’s a pushover. So if it is bad then it’s bad on the GMs part, not the employees.

Wow this went super wrong, twice. This CEO is the embodiment of micromanagement... It is totally reasonable that people won't like the job position you are offering. They will have to burn through tens or maybe hundreds before they find someone who will "fit".

Overworked? The pace that kid was moving at was unbearable. His attitude was about as bad as it could be. He was sabotaging the training of the "trainee", and told the boss to go find someone else...while he took two smoke breaks. Give ME a break--that's not an employee I would ever hire by choice. My criticism of the CEO: he didn't define the expectation. "Be More Proactive" is not descriptive enough for someone who doesn't demonstrate leadership capabilities; he's just going to loaf around until he is fired at this point.

@@willoweable Abusing workers? The honest truth is that the entire company is a mess. The CEO was on his tiptoes in a warehouse, reaching for a box at the top of the second rack. There was no mention of being safe (using a ladder/cherry picker). That's a failure of the CEO and the Management team for not having good safety culture and tools. The worker has nonchalant about everything except taking his smoke breaks--he said "this isn't it...aww who cares" when picking an item...that's a messed up order going to your house because of a negligent worker. I mean...I don't know where you are coming from, but the point I'm making is the kid is NOT putting forth any effort, and the Management team isn't doing a good job of encouraging effort or providing development that would improve the employee. Both are at fault, but the kid doesn't even say that he wishes it were better at work...he just bashes it. That's a rough take.

@@socommaster it's real easy to look up what the federal minimum wage is and see that it hasn't held in line with the rise in production. The only reason a business expands is due to workers. Way to out yourself as a class traitor.

@@jurjcluners8490 so someone who stands at walmart greeting people deserves $15 an hour for doing nothing right?

@@jurjcluners8490 This living wage is so preplexing to me. I get the minimum wage has to be increased to a standard of living that is deemed 'livable' but what is that wage? In San Francisco it would be substantially higher than Arkansas. In a bigger city it would be substantially greater than in rural America. Regardless of what that 'livable wage' # is someone is getting left behind. Honestly, I think the bigger picture issue is where you live and your personal spending habits. Where I am at (rural midwest) Livable wages paying $18-$24 an hour plus good benefits are everywhere (our cost of living is really low. Think 150K for a 2000 square foot home on a nice 1/2 acre). $18-$24 an hour might get you a hotel for a night or two in San Fran. The livable wage argument is so flawed and no one is able to come up with a proper # because it varies from place to place. Also, personal spending/interests can change/enhance livable wage. I am very frugal watching where I spend every dollar (maximizing with savings through credit card cashbacks and have never paid a cent of interest). Others have no idea how to curb reactionary spending/understand the value of the dollar (likely because schools don't prioritize financial education like they do other subjects that have no weight in the grand scheme of life). I guess my point is I hear many people proclaim livable wage but I would really like to know what that # is and what it should allow beyond the basic necessities. Once that # is established I think people would be more receptive than just hearing the 'pay your workers a living wage' statement that has no advanced substance.

@@ET-df2xz this is a cringy response. It's simple, the workers own the means of production and we get paid a comfortable amount in accordance to cost of living. But the funny thing is we all just accept that everything must get more expensive over time when that's not the case. Prices go up due to exploitive practices from corporations and govt legislation. Rural Midwest as cheap as it may be is not livable at 18-24 an hour and hardly any jobs pay that. Lol "don't prioritize financial education like they do other subjects that have no weight in the grand scheme" is also extremely cringy. You're likely referring to the arts which is laughable becuase you consume art every single day of your life. Federal minimum wage was implemented to simply make sure people could afford to live. If you don't get that then that's on you.
