One of the finest actors ever from Hollywood. He knew how to take over a scene and has great stage presence. Also his voice was made for narration and voice over work.
Stephen Boyd was one of the most underrated actors ever in Hollywood and should have won innumerable awards and illustrious movie roles for his talent. His death scene in Ben-Hur was the best ever and of course, should have won him the Oscar - shockingly, he wasn't even nominated. He was the perfect James Bond, a role which still would have underused his mega-skills. Mr. Boyd was brilliant, dazzling, charismatic, hardworking, handsome and his kindness and wisdom was obvious in every interview he gave. Many have wondered why he married Elizabeth Mills. She was his long time secretary and perhaps a devoted friend, but she was 20 years older and rather plain looking. Does anyone know why he married her when she was in her 60's and he was still youthful? Did his close-knit family wonder? Perhaps we wish he had married someone younger and equally charming and had talented children with gorgeous chin clefts. He would have been a wonderful father. He seemed to be a very generous, caring, and thoughtful son, brother, and uncle. I wish he never smoked but everyone at the time seemed to chain smoke and die young. The world's loss.
Thank you for uploading this interview! It's just marvelous to be able to stare at this gorgeous "Mad Men" version of Stephen Boyd in the mid-1960s giving more than silly answers to dumb questions!
Stephen Boyd was only 45 years old when he died of a heart attack while playing a round of golf in 1977. Just a few months later, Bing Crosby, about three decades older, also died of a heart attack after completing a golf game in 1977. I always thought it was a weird coincidence.
He wasn't getting what he wanted from Hollywood. Others left, as well, including Carroll Baker with whom he made a European film. He also made several films with the very popular and gorgeous Marisa Mell, with whom he had an intense affair that ended very abruptly. He was from a very small town in N Ireland and had an extremely exciting and glamorous life that ended very suddenly with a premature death. He left a large empty spot on this planet.
Will you stop beating on my ears!? I've had it up to here with all this bring down. I'm me. You don't like it, change the scenery, go. I'm not good enough, take off! No, wait, Kay please...
It's a bit hysterical to see him effusively going on and on about Elke Sommer, who was a completely indifferent actress (and that's being kind). He really praised her to the hilt, which is a bit baffling.
He was such a wonderful actor, incredibly handsome, marvelous voice, and a class act. A shame he died so young.
Agreed. I am such a huge fan. I heard he was extremely nice to fans. Wish I could have met him
I just love his voice. Every time I hear it, it hypnotizes me. Beautiful voice!
Me too! Great guy too. Darby Hinton, who co starred with him in a movie, told me he was super nice and funny.

He's absolutely drop dead gorgeous.

IF HE WAS BLACK YOU WOULD NOT BE SAYING THAT

@@freddiestranger9783 what people say that about Michael b Jordan and other Black Stars all the time what are you talking about?
He wasn't gay, contrary to made-up stories after he died. He didn't have time with all the women he had.
What a ruggedly handsome man and masculine voice!
Stephen boyd ist für mich der schönste Mann der Welt. Charismatisch, ausdrucksstark und noch dazu ein ausgezeichneter Schauspieler!

Agreed!
Perhaps he could be a good choice playing Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
In Fantastic Voyage, he showed the potential to pull off a role in a James Bond film.

Oddly, Stephen Boyd did move back to Europe in the early ‘70’s to do movies.
Yes! It’s ironic that he said that at the end of the interview.

Hey, thats not stephen boyd. Thats masala. (The hypnotic power of hus performance. Every line was memirable.) Great actior, far better than the hero.
Boyd was a far better actor than Heston who got all the meaty roles.

I’m a huge fan of his. He was an amazing actor and I heard an absolutely wonderful and kind human being.
@helanesolomon1724 yeah my dad grieved a long time for him :(

@helanesolomon1724 his wife insisted, it caused a bit of controversy in the family at the time but it was Elizabeth's wish so fair enough I suppose
He sounds a bit like Michael Fassbender

Similar to Robert Shaw, he died way too young.
