Extra hardcore Career please! And what about using a simple Life Support Mod like USI Life Support? It really gives a real sense to the time your astronauts spend in space, and you need to think about it too. That mod doesn't kill them if they run out, it just turns the Kerbals into "tourists", so they wont work again till they get some supplies.
Do career mode with life support mods to make it a bit more unique than your average career mode series and to satisfy the "Impress me" level difficulty you're notorious for!
@latt mowne Ever heard of 2 computer setups? Streamers use it a lot. Basically, one comp handles the recording, and the other handles the actual game. It allows the game to run perfectly while recording.
Relating to your question about if you should do a career mode: Scott Manley did a long series of videos for his career mode, they were unabridged (mostly) and unrehersed. He made mistakes, killed kerbals, performed rescues and I found that really interesting. One of the reasons I love your videos is just hearing you chat about stuff and do the awesome designs, I'd love you to do that with a big of chaotic fun that comes with a career mode :)
Just so that you know, that flickering effect is called Z-Fighting, it's an issue that pops up when two textures have the same z-axis value. KSP likes to round stuff to save on memory, so textures tend to do that unfortunately.
career mode offers you contracts to the specific orbital bodies. usually, it gently guides you from LKO, to the mun, to minmus, to duna, to jool, to gilly/jool moons, to eeloo, to dres, to moho, to eve. that's the order I got.
The Z-fighting (flickering visual bug) is probably caused by zero point issues, the engine calculates the position of any part as a distance from the origin; which is fine as long as the distances are short, but when you get far away, small deviations in the angle and distance, cause the position to be completely wrong.
That flickery bug is called Z-fighting. It occurs when two different textures are in the same coordinates and direction. What happens is: your computer doesn't know which texture to load, so it tries to load both, but since it cant load both at once they 'fight' over the space, causing it to flicker between both textures.
"There are a couple of reasons I did this, well the main one is I was lazy, but the other one is SO WE CAN test out it's ability to DRIVE ALONG THE SURFACE." Matt you have by far the best commentary of any KSPer (is that a real term?)
In Career Mode, you're much more constrained by the contracts you have to do, at least in the early game. In the later game, it's the only thing that you really have to guide your missions. They can get pretty wacky, I still need to get a class E asteroid in orbit around Bop. Totally think you should do a series on it.
Career mode with some obstacles would be sweet. Either Career Mode with ultra low science factors but relatively high money rewards or the opposite. I love low tech runs, you can (and have to) solve so many more issues with only limited options, so you have to be extra creative or extra scientific in your building.
The flickering on parts is a bug in the base game, for some reason after playing in game for a little bit it causes Zfighting. Alot of people are talking about it on the official 1.4 thread on the forum, and no one has found a fix yet, I guess we just have to wait for a new update that fixes it.
Love your build skills. I gave up KSP because I could never get things to line up as well as you do. That and the fact that I am not at all well versed in actual physics rocketry LOL. Very impressive.
The flickering happens because two textures are occupying exactly the same position. Fix it by moving the parts slightly and ensuring that the parts are rigidly attached so they don't drift around.
I recently made my own satellite that was launched by a huge rocket that got into space pretty quickly. But I had to do multiple tries to get into a proper solar orbit. There was this one time i forgot to turn off the thruster of the satellite, it ended up going on a trajectory leaving the system. And I was like: "Wait wut".
Trip to Mars, to increase and offer a good space could increase and make a catamaran with two starships and a round module in the center to exercise, with the following figure 101 or another design that at the top could deploy a solar sail, This ship will be assembled in space in Earth's orbit, then, when it reaches the orbit of Mars, the two BFRs will separate and land, leaving the module in space for the return.
love your channel man. id fancy watching a career mode even just for the frustration of seeing you complete the contracts!! be sure to try it on a higher difficulty
Great vid as always, I'd love to see a career mode playthrough! Maybe a stock alike game with (tac) life support, Remote tech and other mods to increase difficulty and variety?
Career mode is ok. The missions are kind of based on the parts you have unlocked so you won't for example get tourist missions if you don't have the passenger modules.
Career mode, hardcore noob version, as in "no extra science from this or that eva or spot or ride-around" and such... just do all the bloody "test this parachute at 100k altitude and within 600m/s speed, plus minus 50 m/s" when you have nothing but solid boosters
Im on Xbox one and building a rover and keeping it on the ground on eve or duna is hard for me and i can now make a plane that gos straght not in a constint backflip
I pretty much play sandbox exclusively, but when I started using Vector engines I did find that cost a bit alarming. Using Vectors without a money constraint definitely felt like cheating. So what I do is, anytime I use a Vector engine, that MUST be a recoverable stage. I've found it really satisfying to SpaceX my 1st-stage boosters safely back to Kerbin (usually to the ocean but whatevs) and hit that "Recover Vessel" button before continuing the rest of the mission. Plus to reduce "costs" I tend to use a single Vector engine even on the medium-diameter stages, and supplement the thrust with cheap SRBs or even air-breathing ramjet side boosters (they're pretty affordable, look cool, and provide some serious yeet during mid-ascent).
A career mode playthough would be interesting to see, at least for a while. I also thought that it would probably be very similar to a Science mode game before playing it, but it turned out not to be the case. The combination of not having any facilities upgraded to start with and lack of crew training made it take quite a bit longer for me with many more missions involved. It probably wouldn't be as bad for you with more experience, but I think it would still change how you end up progressing.
I think the visual glitches thing is something in the latest update cause it's been happening to me but I didn't know about the quick load quick save thing so the planes I made basically became two colours at once
Career mode I would watch but you can employee self imposed rules such as (can't re-use vessels for contracts) aka "gather science from duna" (can't reuse a lander sitting there decaying to send a thermo sample)
This made me think that someone should make a mod that gives you population mechanics, like in those city building games. Once you have enough kerbals in one spot and the means to make them "meet" (EG wheeled vehicles, docking ports etc) they would start filling any extra free seats with... ummm... clones, let's say.
As for the career series, what I'd like is for you to complete the progression and tech tree through debug and just do the contracts (particularly the tourist and station ones to make more of a reason to do what you're doing now).
The graphical glitch you had is called Z-fighting and happens when two textures overlap and occupy the same flat surface at the same time.
Some say the flag is still bouncing on Minmus.
H
I guess you can say space starts at THE KERMAN LINE...
I’ll see myself out
Comrade Sergei omg why lol
I feel bad for you, you haven't a hat.
@Mowne Latt noice
I hurt.
In fact, I even made a Kerbal in my Sandbox world called "Theodore von Kerman", after "Theodore von Karman".
Do career mode and make it high difficultly. With that, funds earned will be very few. I’d like to see how you can get by with a low budget.
Guitarfollower22
He should do a Let’s Play of Career Mode
I definitely agree
i agree
Same
I doubt he will tbh, unless you mod it career mode is quite awful, not much to do with contracts, all of them are super unimaginative.
Extra points for running over the flag! :)
Hi im a big fan of yours
Could you please explain whats delta v and how science mode is different
Delta V is basically how far you can travel with your fuel, its like efficiency, but search it up for a better explanation :P
Delta V is the max velocity u can get with the fuel u bring and the thurst & efficiency of the engine
Sebastian Gomez
There aren't contracts in science mode
Can I book a room at this hotel?
Yes
Or can he
Hotel? Trivago.

Elon Musk already booked every room. He plans to kill Matt Lowne.
OMG that porg
Extra hardcore Career please!

Thank you so much Matt! This was the video that introduced me to KSP, and to astrophysics and space science as a whole!
Do career mode with life support mods to make it a bit more unique than your average career mode series and to satisfy the "Impress me" level difficulty you're notorious for!
Except from scatterer, planet shine, kerbal engineer redux... etc, etc lmao
Read the description, genius. It lists it there, he does use those.

Please do a career mode! Note: Normal difficulty isn't hard, probably even easy.
Yea, you should do a career mode series :D
Definitely career mode with USI life support mods, outer planets, etc. Kick up that difficulty.
Nice transport and keep it up!!!!
Relating to your question about if you should do a career mode:

...to never leave debris in orbit. Jettisons fairing into 100 pieces lol

Please do a career with mods like USI life support and planetary bases. You can also get better contract mods to remove the bad in game contracts
he really only plays stock ksp he usually doesn't use mods
Thats cool
Sadly ya, stock career is just way too easy, usi adds a whole new level of complexity and detail in spacecraft design and managment
No he shouldn’t
I would disagree but i respect your decision. In my opinin it was the only was to add difficuly to the later parts of a career save

In career mode a fair few contracts are rescue and rescue/part recovery contracts, so you could make tons of mini blinder birds
Thank you for the entertainment. A career mode series sounds lovely, my favourite type of series.

CAREER MODE YESSSSSSSSS please
In Career Mode, you're much more constrained by the contracts you have to do, at least in the early game. In the later game, it's the only thing that you really have to guide your missions. They can get pretty wacky, I still need to get a class E asteroid in orbit around Bop.

Saying that thing looks cool would be an understatement
The exhaust smoke comes out of the flame trenches on the launch pad.
Make a cargo plane/rocket to bring a asteroid (one of the ones that were going to be used for the story that never came out)

You need a laser cleaning craft now for that survived debris on the surface.
your content is awesome! I have KSP, but I am not nearly smart enough to orbit let alone go to Minmus. Keep it up!

I landed in that exact same valley during my first mission to minmus.
Talking about the flame trench on the pad
You’re on an empty planet and you actually manage to hit the only thing there🤣 Epic!! Looking forward to see how the Hotel and Casino turn out 🤙🏾
Call it ACT3-E because it is the 3rd act, the third Crew Transport, and it is the Extra-planetary version (E). I think the name fits.
