What is the magic trick you all use to getting the perfect string tension? I fix the tension, check that its neutral, throw a break away, yet when I try to do a whip the string twists a once or twice and I cant complete the whip. This happens even when using a brand new kitty XL string. It baffles me when people bust out string tricks after a few throws without fixing their tension as I cant apparently get neutral string even when that its neutral. Should I try to make the string too lose by a twist or 2 before trying the trick? Side note... thank you so much for these playlists. Ive been throwing for just over 3 months and your videos along with videos from other companies has certainly helped cement my love for this hobby.
Keeping the string tension neutral is key. Sometimes a whip will twist even with neutral tension once in a while, it just takes practice. Keep at it and you'll get more consistent. Thanks!
Do you have any tips on maintaining neutral string tension? What is it that causes the string tension to change between tricks, or does it just happen naturally?
Every time you throw and catch you are rotating the yo-yo 180 degrees, so there isn't much you can do to prevent string tension. Just keep an eye on it, if it seems too tight/loose then mix in a ufo or sidewinder with your tricks.
This and the Jade Whip are the bane of my yoyo existence. I can't seem to whip my wrist around without flinging the yoyo in whatever direction. I can do yukki slack and a couple other slack tricks but Iron/Jade whips are the hardest for me to get
Make sure you're popping the yo-yo up before you begin the whip motion, that's the part that gives people the most issues. Other than that just keep at it, practice makes perfect!
YoYoExpert cool thanks, yeah I've started to get the Iron whip down a little bit more which is rad, still having issues with the jade whip but yeah, just got to keep at it :-) thanks for all the great vids!
It sounds like maybe your string tension is too tight from doing other tricks. Take a look at this video that helps explain string tension and the best ways to fix issues with it: th-cam.com/video/-S3Ek5Lbpc0/w-d-xo.html
