I don’t go to church at all - much less a Catholic Church. But from what Bishop Barron just said I know that I would be a Catholic (can’t believe I said that, I’ll probably end up deleting this).

In the same boat. Grew up kinda with it, lost it… years of pain and aimlessness. Through Bishop Baron and God speaking through him, I have slowly crept back into having a relationship with God.
Check out his Alex Friedman podcast… that single episode did more for me in over an hour than 31 years of poor catholic leadership and me searching couldn’t do.

Depressed, suicidal, nihilistic, dead in spirit. To put lightly, I became these labels and always thought the catholic church was anti-intellectual for years. Yet, i have given my heart and mind to this tradition after being found by our lord, and i have been fed in heart and in mind, and my fruitless life has been thrusted to give fruit while i oddly abandon myself for others at the same time. Dare to be catholic my friend, shalom shalom.

As much as I hate this pandemic, it has brought me back to the catholic church.
I watched Dr Pitre Brant, sensus fidelium with the exorcist fr Chad Ripperger, Fr Lampert Vincent, Bishop Baron, fr Mike Schmidt, fr Casey ; fr Nark Goring etc..
I am so on fire for God than never before.
Above all, I have all the answers to all my questions that were making me wondering around in protestant churches.
It all started when my pastor ( Baptist church) asked me what catholic church believed about the Eucharist and I didn't know.
Then he said the catholic church kills Jesus twice because they believe in real presence of Jesus in Eucharist.
It triggered something in me that made me want to do my own research.
Here I am and my faith is so strong and I got to know our Lady of Kibeho too.
I am praying the rosary of 7 sorrows of Mary.
I will never go anywhere again.

Hi, as a Protestant I can perhaps explain partly what you experienced. If you have noticed it before, then Protestants have a cross hanging around their neck, while Catholics have a Crucifix with a Christ figure on it. This is part of a very old and very sore wound that is one of the main reasons of why there's such a thing as a Schism between North and South Europe, the reason why there's a North-Ireland with Protestants and a Republic of Ireland with Catholics. Transubstantiation is the idea of the actual body and blood of Christ being in the bread and wine of the Eucharist, but it was also a doctrine very central when those infected by what the Church in Rome saw as the Protestant heresy, in trials that led to people being burned alive, because the word "transubstantiation" was not mentioned in the bible, then they rather wanted to be burned, then to do against their conscience. So any Protestant pastor with more knowledge then me, would certainly use the phrase that Jesus was being "re-crucified" by the Catholics in this matter. Of course that's not the case. And God's ways and God's thoughts are not humans ways and thoughts.
Personally I think it's a matter of remembering the body of Jesus and his blood shed for our sins, and that it's something spiritual that happen, and that people don't actually eat Jesus-meat, nor do they drink Jesus-blood in the Eucharist (sorry to phrase it in such vulgar terms).
I can only say I've also been around in Churches and struggled to find a place to call home. I'm very drawn to Orthodox Christianity myself, that is the original Christianity that the first Christians in the Roman Empire followed. I'm in Norway, so I discovered to my sorrow that there was only a Lithuanian church in my town, and that the service was done in Slavic. I'm very much against much of what happen in "Evangelical" churches, but at the same time I don't feel any worry.
What I feel is important is to do something of love, to help toss bags of sands in the damns that have been flooding the world with the heresy of Schism (that are clearly against the word of God), where people believe they are part of the "real Christianity" and that anyone else are bound to be lost forever. I think myself Bishop Robert Barron are doing a very good job, and I feel blessed by listening to what he have to say. But I'd like to claim that anything that divide brother against brother, and sister against sister, and weaken the body of Christ in such a way, don't do the will of God.
So God bless you. I hope you can pray for me and bless me back, and together we might undo what our forefathers did when they thought they did the will of God by killing brothers and sisters. I burn with love for all those that love Jesus, so Jesus be with you, amen.

I'm very glad to hear that you are focusing on your faith so intensely, and I hope that you will find in your journey both understanding and Fortitude. To the part on Jesus supposedly being killed twice, as I understand it: we believe as Catholics that at every proper Mass Jesus' body, blood, soul, and divinity are represented to the congregation. There is no need for a rebirth, recrucifying, etc. for Jesus to represent Himself, which perhaps becomes more clear when we focus on Jesus' divine nature which comes with it the recognition that God created Time, and thus is not constrained to it, as beings in Time are.

Probably the most important homily that any priest, bishop or Pope can deliver. To accept the Eucharist as the Real Presence because of Jesus' words is the defining line that separates the Catholic Faith from other faiths. On our death beds will we not say, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life". Then may we hear, "Come ye blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you...." Thank you, Bishop Barron, for this powerful homily!

What has long been obscured has now been made clear. Every parish priest, lay Catholic, doubter or unbeliever need only watch this 13:54 video if they have issues with 'the Real Presence' of Jesus in the Eucharist. Much to ponder here, Bishop Barron. And yet the question remains (as it has for 2,000 years): do I stay or do I go? Brilliant!. Though few and far between, I love these moments of illumination.

Your points are well taken. In the summer of 2018 when the sex abuse scandal broke wide open again, as a survivor of the horrors perpetrated on my by the pastor of my parish, I was ready to WALK OUT!!!! I could no longer take the lies and hiding of evidence the church "leaders" were prepetrating on the faithful, indeed re-victimizing the victims of these unspeakable crimes. I was going to mass that day to tell my priest I would sit through this Eucharist one more time, but then, I'm leaving!!! Well, I couldn't catch him before mass began. This was the gospel for that day in August. I began to sob, and sob, as I echoed the the declaration of Peter, "Lord, to whom shall we go?" in my heart. Afterwards, I told my priest what I had come to do and say. He said he knew, because God put me, Pat VonFeldt, on his heart the moment he heard the awful news from Pennsylvania.
Through all of it, I've remained a Catholic, practicing, never to stray and fully participating. I love the Eucharist and make it to mass almost daily. I seek healing through the Body & Blood of Our Lord and through the intercession of His mother, my mother, Mary and with a special intention to St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Sienna. I hope, Bishop, that folks read this, that they hear your disertation on these most important words of Christ. He was not kidding around then, and he's not kidding around now... God's word is God's word.

@@jkgn4656 funny, that is exactly the gift I believe God gave me as a little child and through much of my live, that is to look past the priest to see Jesus. Much more I can say on that, but to answer your direct question, I would be interested in speaking to your church congregation. I've spoken at retreats and was interview by the Denver Catholic Register, published in November 2018. I am not that good at TH-cam communications, but if can back message me we could talk a bit. Or you can send me a message via Facebook. Of course I will be looking for guidance before ever putting myself and my story out there, but before that... we need to discuss a bit more. Thanks! @•Bishop Roberts Barron• there is always a need for prayer on my behalf and all those victims/survivors. Even though I am many years from the trauma, I suffer from depression and anxiety and can be easily triggered... these are all set backs and so could use prayer for that.
And this is not a prayer request, but a question. I was told, the hierarchy don't really believe the stories of those of us who deal with repressed memory; i.e., I was abused as a 5-yr old, but those horrors didn't surface until 2002 when I was 48 yrs old. I've been told, there is a polite response from the Diocesean folks, but they don't really believe. Help? Maybe???

One of the most profound lessons from today’s gospel is when Jesus, rather than compromising his principles and watering down his teachings, let’s all of the unbelieving disciples walk away if they don’t wish to believe in him.
What a terrific teaching moment for parish priests, bishops, archbishops and all church leadership. Holy Mother Church’s teachings are handed down to us through the ages from Jesus Christ and can’t be altered to appease non-believers for any reason.

What a homily! Thank you, Father. And yes, Peter's words get me every time I read them. Those words are so moving because they signal a moment of complete surrender to the Truth. You can feel the shock and awe in Peter's voice as he utters those words standing in front of Jesus. Also, there is something very vulnerable in these words, as if a child, an orphan, saying to his adoptive parent: Where else can I go? You are the only person I've got in the world. And this echoes the words of Jesus: Unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)
