XTM Winch install on a GU Nissan Patrol

This a little project I did recently on my 2016 Nissan Patrol GU Wagon.
I must admit when I came to edit this I obviously was more focused on the install than the camera work so feel free to ask questions about the install of this product.

Thanks mate I’ve run more expensive gear like yourself in the past but heard no bad reviews on these so keen to see how it goes . Watching some of your videos now reminds me of the old school like Malcom Douglas and the Leyland brothers cinematography I used to love

Hi Carl, was about to mount a kings winch of the same dimensions on and with no rope on the drum it looked way to low in the normal mount position on the bar to where the fairlead would be . Have you had a chance to use the winch yet, had any trouble when spooled out lots of rope with it pulling on too much of an angle from the fairlead to the winch ? Cheers.

I think you are looking at the instructions where they tell you how to mount same as mine which makes the rope come off the drum at the bottom, even though they tell you not to I turned it upside down so the rope comes straight out of the fair lead not sure if I explained in the video.
The rope on mine comes out 600mm above the ground and yes I did a test using most of the rope pulling uphill 3 ton Patrol worked fine !

Ok thanks. I’m just going to mount it upside down. So it comes out the top but out and in remain the same.

Yes and I found was better for the cables and connections

Hi I have a question isn’t the rope brushing against the bottom bar even after you put the Farr lead on? My bullbar is similar to yours but the instructions say fitted in underwond position not overwond

I know they say that but when I looked with the rope coming off the bottom was way to low so I went from the top, and just had another look the rope is coming out the centre of the fairlead in the fully wound position.
Still need to go out in the bush and do the tightening procedure though.

@@travelandadventurewith4x4 thank you for explaining how about the controller does goes in when you press on the in bottom and comes out when you press on the out bottom or is reversed/flipped? We have the same bullbar

Well when I did it because I had turned it upside down thought the controller would be reverse ( out would be in ) but to my surprise it works as it should, as to the lettering on the controller - out is out when you press. Hope that helps
