His music has accompanied me through many very hard and very brilliant time periods in my life. I assume you mean all of his music, not just the music under his actual name, but if you don't know Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate, those are his old solo project and band, and they're his very best music, in my opinion. Everything In Transit is his first solo album by Jack's Mannequin and he finished writing it on the day he found out he had leukemia. It's probably my favorite of all his material. The Glass Passenger was the next Jack's Mannequin album that he put out after his battle with leukemia, and it's also really powerful. His music with his actual band (Something Corporate) is all amazing, too, but North is probably my favorite album. I'm sure you already know these albums, but just in case you only knew his recent music under his real name, you REALLY have to get his other music. At least start with Everything In Transit :) I do like his newer stuff, but Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin is some of the best music I've heard in my life. He's an amazing person.
WHAT?! Your high! His music is nothing short of phenomenal! If you don't get chills when you hear it, there's definitely a problem. In every song you can hear the passion and hard work that he puts into EVERY song he writes. He is great at making you feel that. His passion is what makes him remarkable as an artist. He will always be my favorite, along with Matt Nathanson.

Lows in the song are dark green, highs are yellow, bubblegum pink, fire engine red and pops of sky blue. His voice however is grey and looks like skinny jeans and brown hipster boots.

Every time I hear his music I can't believe that every single song is just as amazing as the other. It's VERY difficult to achieve that but Andrew definitely some how does it.

I really enjoy this song live, it really brings out everything. even with the parachute. I saw them live when I went to this show to see Bastille and they were really amazing. Andrew came down and he was so close to me I could've touched him, but I didn't

I learned recently what synesthesia entails and that seeing music isn’t totally common, so to find something like this to express myself and relate to it is so pretty!
I get chills listening to this song.
So many memories and feelings go through my mind and they're exactly like the beat/sound of this song, it's just so good.
Who knew an independent artist, good friends, and some alcohol could make an amazing video and release it on time better than a major label. Congratulations on upping the indie game Andrew!

It's so cool to read all these comments by synesthetes about what color this song is!! I wonder if Andrew McMahon has synesthesia?
I know right? I don't have it, but I have read A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass, and so I know a little bit about it. But I can't imagine how it must be like to have synesthesia. Anyone who has it is truly gifted in my opinion.
Maybe he has it, but I'm not totally sure
it's a common effect of certain psychedelic drugs like LSD. it's incredibly rare otherwise, so I highly doubt it. the majority of commentors giving their opinion about the color of the song probably do not have synesthesia, they're just giving an opinion about the sound of the song. music has always had color tones, having nothing to do with synesthesia, something anyone can recognize. but perhaps he has experienced it on some level. It can be experienced in different ways and to different degrees on drugs. it's also simply a concept that anyone can imagine. people may jokingly say, for example, something "tastes" purple without ever having heard of "synesthesia" let alone experienced it, so simply referencing it is exactly zero evidence he has some incredibly rare condition. use logic.

+Artcore103 its not incredibly rare--- its just underdiagnosed. I also doubt that many of these people are "giving their opinion" because there will be no reason to. They probably have synestesia, and were attracted by the title of this song to finally share some thoughts.
how on earth would you know if it's not rare but merely underdiagnosed? mild forms of it may be, since it is no big deal in most cases, but it's still very rare. you know, really everyone has it, it's just a matter of degree... sensory information is never completely isolated, some degree of sensory mixing is simply the normal human experience, albeit very mild. but an obvious and significant condition is, in fact, extremely rare, and would not go underdiagnosed.

For me the verses are kind of like a royal purple + indigo iridescence, while the chorus is like a yellow diamond encrusted melted orange sunset.

I absolutely love this song! Where has this been my whole life
When I got my first phone, after downloading Spotify, I vividly remember this song being the first one to play on the radio. Up until that moment, I had never been given the choice to listen to anything other than Christian songs or mainstream car radio songs. After stumbling across this song, I cried for hours knowing that my scope of music had been so limited for such a important period of my life, but I didn't know that at the time, I was just overcome with this overwhelming feeling of joy and passion. It felt like I had found a piece of me that I never knew was missing. Now I get to enjoy bands like Gorillaz, Brick & Mortar, Penny and Sparrow, RKS. Thank you Synesthesia for being my gateway drug into the weirdest music tastes that apparently only I seem to have (not Gorillaz, it's mainstream but also very unique).
wow... I've never heard Andrew [& co.] on the radio before! Shame he has been so underrated
The song is actually about him spending a lifetime making music and worrying about success. "and i never made a gold record...." He talks about how some of his friends from a band that would open for his shows are now "collecting trophies for the songs they wrote". (you've probably heard of "fun.") He spent so much of his life focusing on music and art he forgets to take a step back sometimes. That's just my take. In the end its his art, and he doesn't owe anyone an explanation.
The entire EP is brilliant, best he's done since Something Corporate's debut.

Sasha Zimmerman kind of a purple/blue/pink. It's different for a lot of people though. its cool! :)
Sasha is dark purple with a hint of fuscha on the last a, and Zimmerman is a dark green like a tree's leaves at night time.

yes there are different types. I have graphime type (coloured numbers, letters and words) and sometimes textured words. 4% of the planet has synaesthesia so u should feel special

Thanks to the song title I realized I have a form of Synesthesia, I can feel people touch by looking at them. That would explain why if someone got smacked with a ball in gym class I always yelled ow!

+Lauren Ong For me, each letter has its own color, but is usually defined by the first letter. For me, the letter L happens to be clear, but "Lauren" has some red, peach, and yellow because of the other letters. Some letters have stronger colors, though numbers have much stronger colors in general! 😀
