It’s amazing how that sketch has stood the test of time. True Muppet fans know that Jim Henson himself started that bit way back during his Sam and Friends days, and it’s been revived thru each stage of his career and the life of the Muppets. From Sesame Street to the Muppet Show to this video, it’s been featured on all of them, and still kills each time it’s performed. The same can be said for “Visual Thinking” and a few other sketches. Sadly I think my favorite is Old Black Magic by default, it’s one of the very few, incredibly rare videos of an actual Sam and Friends sketch. The technology to film the shows back then was so unwieldy, and costly, and even tho Jim was one of the most forward thinking people to ever work in Hollywood, the Sam and Friends shows were almost never saved on any kind of film. Once they went out into the airwaves they were gone forever except in the memories of those lucky few who saw them live.
Like they brought Yorick out of retirement after Sam & Friends was canceled, even though it's not the same "Yorick" puppet that was used in Sam & Friend and such in the 50's and 60's. Imagine if they "brought" about every characters from Sam & Friends out of retirement.
An old Sam and Friends sketch! Never thought they'd bring that back. This one is kind of similar to the one with Kermit eating the worms. And Yorick is back!!!! The puppet is even better by modern standards.
As much as I'd like to see the performance without the puppeteers in the shot, it does provide an educational view on how to operate Muppets. With this information, I'll have a better idea on how to control a Muppet if I ever get around to it.
@TheMagic0214 From what I can find on Wikipedia and Muppet Wiki, the song is sung by American singer Rosemary Clooney, in a recording from 1956, and is one of many who have covered this song originally from the musical My Fair Lady. My search reveals that it's at the very least included on a compilation album called "Rosemary Clooney: Love Songs" from 2004 (released two years after her death), and it should be up on both iTunes and Amazon.
If you see 'Stuffed and Unstrung,' this is one of two classic Henson pieces that they perform between their sets. The other they perform is known as 'Java.' Btw, watch Brian's mouth. When Yorrick makes the 'munching' motion, Brian is also making it with his mouth as well.
Whoa, they made an updated design of Yorick after being more or less the same for over 60 years. Cool! He looks a bit more creepier compaired to his previous incarnation.
On this day in 1968 {April 21st} the Muppets, with Kermit the Frog wearing a blonde wig and crooning to Mr. Sullivan, performed "I've Grown Accustomed To Your Face" on the CBS-TV variety program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... "I've Grown Accustomed To Your Face" was featured in the 1956 Broadway musical 'My Fair Lady', was originally performed by Rex Harrison as Professor Henry Higgins... The Broadway play premiered on March 15th, 1956. later in 1956 two covered versions of the song made Billboard's Top 100 Sides chart; Rosemary Clooney's version peaked at #70, while Gordon MacRae reached #96 with his version...
@Jaheartsjonas That lady is obviously Leslie Carrara-Rudolph look at her hair and you're right her voice sounds like Rosemary Clooney. BTW I love that new Yorick puppet, and hey is that Red Fraggle? (the yellow creature with the wig)3
@BroadwayKait I'm thinking the same thing...i looked it up and Wikipedia said: "Kermit the Frog performed this song several times during the 1950s and '60s. In this case, the character wore a wig while lipsyncing to Rosemary Clooney's recording of the song, singing to a small creature that is covered entirely by a piece of cloth with a face drawn on it." But it seems like that lady's singing, maybe she's lip syncing with him?
It was SEO nice to hear someone sing as if they were back in the 1940's or whatever, you REALLY don't hear that sort of sound anymore, it is nice some people still love that classical, beautiful sound to singing unlike what you get these days.
There are Jim Henson and Muppet archives. However, I'm not sure if they would add Sam and Friends. I really want them to... but they haven't added Fraggle Rock so...
@@tyleriguana yeah but I do have a suspicion that if there is demand for fraggle rock they will just bite the bullet and add it. Sam and friends though is a totally different story it played a lot of music from that time era so I am pretty sure it would not only be hard to find and upscale the quality to fit with today’s standards but getting every single license to each song used in sam and friends would be just as hard but I think they can do it also they let you download episodes of stuff on Disney + so this lost media could be archived forever if they do add it.
@muppetlover16 I'm not sure...i'll have to ask "Mr. Wikipedia" lol! And I didn't know who that lady was, so thanks! I'm interested with the Muppets but i'm not yet a huge fan so i have a very limited knowledge of them haha!
At first I thought it was one of the Henson daughters, but somebody above identified her as Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, one of the Sesame Street Muppet performers, which makes sense.
...all of a sudden, I'm a child again, watching an episode of the Muppet Show...so wonderful.... *manly tears*
I see so much of Jim Henson in Brian, He's smiling down at him and he's very proud of him
Thank you Brian Henson for being able to continue your father's work. You are a true genius yourself.

It's good this time it isn't Kermit. I think people today wouldn't like this happening to him and would want Miss Piggy to save him.
I like the "Yorick" puppet that Brian was working. True to the original Sam & Friends character. XD

Well done, excellent display of Muppet Knowledge.

this is HILARIOUS! they match the movements with the expressions so well!
That's the art of Puppetry :)

Aw, what an incredible performance!
Sweet! RIP Jim Henson
And let us now consider that Brian just directed The Happyland Murders, which show muppets doing things even Constantine would think was nuts.
Absolute Brilliance. Thanks in sharing 💜
If you can see the puppeteers and still only focus on the puppets, they do it right

the muppet on the left remindes me of the muppets from fragle rock.
I think it’s sweet that Brian took the same role. His mother did with Erick.
Is the woman actually singing that live?! If she is . . . she's phenomenal!
I see the puppeteers, but I'm always more drawn to the muppets instead. that's how good they still are! :)
It's good to see you again, Yorick!
@batmanrules16 Maybe it's Red Fraggle's mommy, Scarlet Fraggle (both puppets look similar, only difference is that Red has pigtails)
she has a beautiful singing voice
miss Rosemary Clooney!
I can't believe she was actually singing that, wow!!
this is so amazing!!! Jim Henson= master mind!!
It’s wonderful and adorable ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome antics

HA! This one was great! I loved it! Thank you for posting these! :)
Yeah, keep singing. Don't run away.
@Japaneseshibainu Rosemary Clooney. It's a recording from 1956.
Holy hell! It's Yorick 2.0!
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Inspires me to work harder!! FANTASTIC!!
Soo good loved it!!
Gobo Fraggle : Is That A Fraggle
Yeah, originally it was Kermit in a wig, but they decided to update it with a female Muppet. I guess this one is similar to the one on Fraggle Rock.
Sam and friends needs to come to Disney plus that is if there are archives

@@tyleriguana I am pretty sure it also did back when it was airing during its hay day.
@@jswitch0940 oh well yes, but with Disney, that's a different issue because the company is very protective of its brand.
CUTE!
Who’s the lady puppeteer?
I really want to know the info on the music track, can;t find that version anywhere!
She's singing live
Didn’t they originally use Kermit on that number?
I think when she saw the face change, she should've gone, "Oh, crap!"
@muppetlover16 I'm not sure...i'll have to ask "Mr. Wikipedia" lol! And I didn't know who that lady was, so thanks! I'm interested with the Muppets but i'm not yet a huge fan so i have a very limited knowledge of them haha!
couldn't stop laughing at 1:26

At first I thought it was one of the Henson daughters, but somebody above identified her as Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, one of the Sesame Street Muppet performers, which makes sense.
That's cool!
If Brian put the pink mask in his pocket, how come he is picking it up off the floor at the end?
I dont think he put it in his pocket
@@mesquitegirl2013 Might not have. You can't tell if he did, now that I think about it.
Nutty humor, ain't it?
At least Brian has short hair. I've seen him with long hair and thought, "Get a haircut!"
Jeg liker best den gamle versjonen
That's A Fraggle
1:28 Yorick Jr.?
You can see the woman Muppet acting shocked when she sees the frightened creature. Too bad this wasn't South Park or she'd go, "OH FUCK!!!!!"
I don't see Brian munching with his mouth. I think he is concentrating, and it just looks like munching. It is not.
Best Job in the World.
Awsome
If this had been Ave. Q, the woman Muppet would've gone, "Oh, shit!"
lol but this was an original skit made by Jim Henson in the early days of his company. Wouldn't want to ruin it haha
Avenue Q doing this just brings to mind when Sesame Street would do covers of songs that would be popular at that time.
That's so fucking funny
Yeah, I guess the woman Muppeteer sang the song live. Maybe she knew how to sing it.
No, its a recording by Rosemary Clooney.
@@AntronGeese Then why lip sync to it? I guess you do that while you have a Muppet lip sync as well.
@@sha11235 It’s kind of hard not to, in the moment. I guess it keeps you grounded in the performance.
❤❤❤
The fraggles are back
And so is Byorick
Boy, were a lot of people taking pictures. I think that is a little annoying.
Is it just me, or does Yorick look like The Rock.
Yor-Rock
Eekum Bookum!!
You can see the female puppeteer singing.
YORICK LIVES
it would be much funnier if it was kermit
Nah, I like it better this way. You'd feel too sorry for Kermit. I know I would. I hated it when shit happened to his ass.
@Janetta Martin Why not? Free country.
I think it is better it isn't Kermit.
sha11235 Kermit was done with this stuff. He was sick of Yorick doing this kind of stuff to him
Yeah, he got worse shit from Constantine, his lookalike.
Yorick looks pretty evil here😄!
