I actually live near EM! Awesome to see you running those trails! So many fun places to explore near mercur and ophir too! Wish I had my 4runner up and running. I know you guys are super busy making videos, but those tune files for the 1uz would be very useful for me :)
This was an awesome video, that trail looked tough. I hate how in video, obstacles never look as angled and big as they are. Definitely the extra “overland weight” didn’t help.
i’m not sure yet how i’m gonna fix the oil starvation problem. it was a little low on oil so maybe if it’s topped off it will perform better, thank you for watching!!
@@gageboysgarage6059 that’s awesome. Did you come all the way to Idaho to go to Atlanta? You should’ve hit up the owyhee mountains. There’s a bunch of fun rock crawling out there.
Yeah I don't think it was about tire size I think he needs to drop the pressure even more and if you're going to do something like that you pretty much need beadlocks I think So if you can go down to like 5 psi or something to put enough tire down. Bigger tires are going to hurt your crawl ratio unless you re-gear and that's pretty expensive so if you have a big enough tire I would do beadlocks and low low pressure if you need more tire down. Those Patagonia can probably hold like 15,000 lb of weight at that size. It's overkill for a 4000 lb vehicle The tire pressure has to go way way down. Even with my 30.6 inch tires if my street pressure is over 32 lb it's a skateboard. Even the load inflation tables tell me that I can run 26 street pressure. 26 actually works pretty darn good off-road for me most of the time but if I had bead locks and LT tires I'd go to like five or eight with tires that big on a vehicle that light if you're going to crawl rocks like that.
I think people should be a little bit more scientific about tire pressure recommendations. I would say look at the load inflation tables and start off by trying a pressure that holds one times your vehicle weight if you add all 4 tires together (for trails).
Call me crazy but I run 15 psi in the rear and 20 psi in the front daily driving an XJ but I ain’t loaded up with gear and a roof top tent. If I had headlocks I’d be under 10 fer sur!!!

Normal pat sidewall issues. Get rid of them and get a set of real tires.
i’d like to agree but i’ve beat these tires hard for years
What do you recommend?

Thank you! we tried our best to capture the obstacles haha 😂 but they where definitely cooler in person.
so awesome the xj could tackle that last hard obstacle! good call on saving the 1uz! dry sump time? 🤘🤘

@off-roadingexplained8417 agreed, but thankfully I have not had a flat while wheeling in Colorado. I roll on 35's.
Your xj has the best stance. Only a few others I know are as cool looking.
thank you very much i appreciate that !

i usually run 5 to 6 psi but with this setup i was 5600 lbs on non bead locks, so i played it safe, on the last obstacle i aired the front down to 8
What size front and rear springs are on the XJ?? What trying to figure out what to go with when I finish my rear 4 link
6.5” lift
your dad looks familiar, is he famous or something? swear he looks like Joel grannas from grannas racing hahaha
Just famous on gage boys garage, or at least that i know of haha
This is 15 minutes from my driveway definitely a blast
very jealous of that !
Hey. This is Wyatt from badger land offroad. We met at wind rock tn. Anyways, we have a tailgate for your XJ if you want it.
that would be awesome!! We would love to come down and pick that up
