Wow 8 years already . I remember when you unboxed it I'm glad I'm.not the only one who let's the dishwasher clean it's own filter when putting a cleaner in lol
The Miele Active SC is sold for 739€ for a new one in Germany (Oct ‘24). You got a very good deal. And even a new one for 399€ 8 years ago, is so much less expensive.
My parents have been using a model very similar to this for just as long and they also never had any trouble with it. These are very good dishwashers. They also had better luck with their Miele washing machine, about 4 years now without any issues, though it is a more basic model, without the twindos system that broke on yours. As they say, keep it simple.
Have the slightly newer version of this dishwasher and its excellent. You are yet to experience the hell scape of integrated appliances. My advice is run run run from that idea and enjoy the flexibility of being able to change a broken or worn out appliances without having to source new doors for the kitchen. With washing machines manufacturers put hinges in different places so you are stuck with that make or its buy a new door, you might even buy the exact same but newer version but the hinges are different, fridge freezers have many different splits so a 70/30 from one make might not be exactly the same as a 70,30 from another. finding a replacement is a nightmare , depending on the make dishwashers are not much better. i fit these appliances on a regular basis and it is often easier to replace an integrated appliance with a free standing one than go through trying to find a new cupboard door or have all the doors in the kitchen replaced just because an appliance has failed.
The Miele Ultra Tabs are quite good. I have recently been using them in a non Miele dishwasher and they are excellent at removing everything from grease to tea stains.
A tip for you Roger. Try using the sensor wash programme (Auto) it will adjust duration, temperature and if an interim rinse is required. Its my go to for our daily dirty dishes in a Miele dishwasher
I’ve used it a couple of times but was never entirely happy with the wash results so I stick to 50 for day to day use and 75 when I have a lot of pans and bakewear in the wash load.
I've found out that those rails where the middle (and possibly top on your model) trays run, tend to develop a nasty biofilm over time. It's hard for water to reach there directly but vapour and high temperatures will definitely create a favourable environment. It's not hard to get them out, there's a sort of plastic retainer clip on the back side; I'm not sure if they're stainless or just plated but they're easy and quick to clean. I only do this maybe twice a year, after I've first found out and I probably can go longer still.
I did notice a white film on the runners of the cutlery tray, so next time I give my dishwasher a clean I will see if I can remove the middle rail and clean any gunk I find. Thanks for the tip.
I remember this machine. Did they attack your beautiful and unusual socks 😂. I have a GE which isn’t really GE someone paid for the name to make crappy appliances . But it has the knife drawer on top like yours . In a few years I will build a new house in Texas and put better appliances there . None of them build them like they used to 👍
as always, great video, Roger! In terms of the temperature for the cleaner, it should be above 55C not below. So ideally you should be selecting 75C program, not 50C. I Stopped using 50C program after cleaning dishes soiled with eggs. I could smell the eggs after and when tried 70C program with another soiled with eggs load, this scent was gone. Since then I have never used any other program than 70C. I also run my dishwasher twice for the same load, because when I open it after a first wash, I always can smell the detergent. I wish the dishwashers had extra 2-3 rinses option, just like some new washing machines, as it would never leave that chemicals on the dishes. Simple test, when you use a pot after washing it in a dishwasher, pour a lot of water from the tap and with a high pressure. If the water foams, it is obvious that your dishes have not been rinsed good enough and you will be eating that chemical that devolves the food. Let me know what you think about that. PS, I have just realised I wrote "eggs load" 🤭😜
0:28 To be fair, it's likely Miele refurbished the faulty machine and sold it at their Abingdon or London centre. They won't make much of a loss that way. Great video btw :)
@@ibaisaic I’m gonna say that was a bit of the waste because some of the parts did still work so they could’ve been used for parts for repairs or something but oh well
@Albieshutz Yeah. The TwinDos system, Aquastop, and panels should all be written off, but anything from the motor up seems healthy to me. Miele would be building machines in Poland sooner than 2027 to save money sooner if the TwinDos faults would lead to full write offs.
I know you had an issue with your washing machine and Im glad miele recognised it and replaced it no ifs no buts. But there is nothing like a miele appliance so going for them again in your new kitchen makes total sense and is a smart move
You can be glad that this one hasn't got the Connect App feature. Mine just refused to work for two straight days because it wanted to do an update, which you cannot skip. And Mieles Servers are rubbish and thats why it refused to work.
My Miele washing machine is connected to my Wi-Fi and needed an update this week which took less than a minute without the machine being out of action. It’s easy enough to disconnect a Miele connected appliance and use it without having it connected to your Wi-Fi.
I assume your cats don’t jump up on your kitchen worktops where food is prepared as that doesn’t seem very hygienic. When I have to hand wash on the occasions I am staying in my caravan, I always leave the dog bowls till last and never put them in the same water as the other dishes. I am quite happy to put my dog bowls in the dishwasher with everything else, a practice that has occurred for more than 50 years of owning dogs and dishwashers and I seem to have survived.
@ibaisaic the cat isn't allowed on the kitchen worktop, just concerned that the dishwasher never gets hot enough on the eco setting to sanitise cat/dog bacteria. You're very brave 👏 We have a sink in the utility room where we wash the cat bowls 🥣.
Already 8 years, I remember the day the unboxing was uploaded!
Same I feel old lol
Same, I thought this could not be possibly 8 years. How time truly does fly.

8 years and still going strong. Pretty impressive.
No way is this 8 years. Remember the video getting rid of your Bosch slimline and then getting this! Thanks Roger.
Wow 8 YEARS ALREADY love your videos good work rodger! Next video do a washing machine
I understand you're in the spoon trade...How fascinating for you, and so much more interesting than being a HOTEL INSPECTOR!
My favourite episode is The Psychiatrist, especially the bit when Basil gets black paint on his hand that ends up on the Australian woman’s. breast.
Hi Roger, good to know the Miele dishwasher is still going strong. My old zanussi dishwasher is now 24yrs old and still doing a great job!
wow that is great

Have you seen the new Miele press releases? New laundry and new vacuum cleaners - the Guard series with a their version of the Air Belt.

The couriers that picked it up said the machine will be scrapped.

I dont have pets, but Roger is correct. No need to rinse dishes. But the dishes are sanitized
What did you have before this?
I think he had a Bosch one.
@@Handdryersroblox Yeah he had a bosh slimline in my opinion this was a good move changing it for a Miele

I put my birds bowls into the dishwasher with my stuff.
13:30, sure that’s a juicer Roger 😂
I thought nobody would notice. Of course it’s a prostate massager.
@@ibaisaic Bit strange looking for a juicer 😭
@@finlays-crazy-life It's actually from a masticating Juicer. I've shown it in action on my other channel.

dont use my sink ,EVERYTHING goes in the dishwasher, i refuse to use the sink , dont touch it
Why doesn't this guy show his face
