- This trip started as an attempt to film a rare Futura touch free wash in Old Monroe, but unfortunately we struck out for a 2nd time. However, this small car wash up the road made the trip worth it. For some reason I've never come across a D&S Quicksilver before, even though D&S is headquartered in the St Louis area. Very unusual design that clearly takes a lot of influence from the D&S 5000 / Super 5000.

Great video! We have a D&S Quicksilver In my town. I always liked them.
Well if you have a door seal leak, this bad boy will find it! Also looks like one of the headlights misted up after the wash.

Odd that the menu states that the wash has a dryer, but the wash itself doesn’t have one… other than that, this seemed like a great wash! QuickSilvers are quite rare these days, as they have been discontinued by D&S.

I was the one that sent that tip all those years ago! 2016 maybe? It's sad to see that the Futura is down lately. It was running when I was there, and the owner was able to tell me all about the machine. If you're looking for another uncommon machine, there's an Oasis Monsoon in Owensville, MO. Any time you happen to be passing through that area, it's at the Stars and Stripes Car & Truck Wash along Highway 28. I've visited that machine before, and it's super neat.
It was working a week prior to this trip when I went up there myself.. guess it's the Jacob car wash luck lol

their foam is very colorful. you should be able to drive across flat soil to leave the carwash.

Futura car wash company went out of business in 2012, I don't think they'll get it fixed anymore

@@gradymcclintock6160 well here's a good story, back in my hometown there's a very old and rare futura ssa that's still there (to my knowledge) and it was well taken care of for the time they put it in. It's been there since before I was born and to this day it's been out of order since 2012 I think. Anyway the system now sits in the bay to this day and they can't repair or replace it because the car wash has been abandoned.

Futura did indeed go out on business in 2012. Around the same time, AOK, who made very similar systems to Futura, also went out of business.

Great video Jacob! Well it wasn’t a complete fail for your drive up to Elsberry! I’m pretty sure you didn’t need that shower yourself 😁! I’m going down to see friends in Eureka and House Springs in a few weeks! I’ll definitely watch for different car washes along the way down and back up the Avenue of the Saints! Have a great weekend! It is a d&s cause the D&S logo is on the machine look closely and u will c it

Nice system. I'm curious about drying the car. Are you supposed to do that yourself or are there blowers somewhere?
The final rinse is “spot free” (distilled) water so it just dries clean. Most car washes don’t actually need dryers, but customers don’t like driving away with wet cars.

I went to one before, nice place but very expensive.
