Here's an idea: What if Thomas was instead an LNER J50 as Awdry actually wanted him to be, either as first illustrated or rebuilt into the useful engine we know and love him as of today?
I've noticed on the original Awdry map and various edits of said map by fans that there is an abandoned railway at the northern most end of Sodor that once ran from Harwick, past some smaller towns and eventually to a mine. My question is why the NWR hasn't expanded out that way and use most of the old ROW and what's the story with that abandoned line?
My RWS Harwick Branch. Arlesburgh West x Harbour, bridge over river Arle, past Castle Arle, Engine sheds & goods yard. Past a lighthouse, thrue a rocky terrain into Clagh Oorye station. Past the north coast of sodor $ Lifeboat station into Harwick station. Plus a extention and loop at Ballaswein.
I imagine that, if the NWR engines did at least have to wear BR liveries and numbers, the bigger engines would not take it so well. ______ *GORDON (in BR passenger blue, **#54004**):* I look ridiculous! This is not the proper shade of blue to befit a grand express engine! Disgraceful! ______ *HENRY (in BR lined black, **#54003**):* Lucky Gordon gets to keep his blue paint. I look like I've been dipped in ink with this ugly black colour. How unimaginative, despicable and lazy! You cannot apply a few brushstrokes and call it paintwork. ______ *JAMES (in BR lined black, **#54005**):* Taking away my splendid red paint is one thing, but having the gall to colour me black is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I look like I've been splashed by a hundred tar wagons! I would rather be painted blue!
During the early days of BR a number of experimental colour schemes were tried, especially for express passenger locos. These included: a light green - similar to Henry but slightly lighter, a light blue - near to Sodor blue, a dark blue - near to the shade used by the Caledonian. In the end express passenger locos became brunswick (GWR) green, mixed traffic locos black with red & white lining and minor locos plain black. But in many cases rules were loosely applied and, particularly on the GWR, some passenger tank engines were in fully lined green. BR Blue (a horrible shade that faded too easily) didn't come in until well into the diesel era - late 1960s.

Love the video! I can’t wait to see what you have next time!
What if the S&M engines were still around?
Think about this, if Christopher didn’t get the measles, none of us, would exist. NONE.
Happy 77th anniversary of the Railway series
Here we go
Here's an idea: What if Thomas was instead an LNER J50 as Awdry actually wanted him to be, either as first illustrated or rebuilt into the useful engine we know and love him as of today?
Like the other comment, nothing would change really except design.
Only if the illustrators followed Awdry
What if... the mid sodor railway never closed?
What If The Skarloey Railway Closed INSTEAD OF THE MID SODOR RAILWAY
What if the nwr had to Go with the railway ACT of 1921 where the big tour Railways where formed
Idk just thought id mentioned it just to add on to it
What if Barry the rescue engine was published?
I would put up my middle finger to ANYONE who complained and caused that book to be cancelled!
Well, maybe something will have some effect, but the real question is what number the book should have.
What if Ryan came in 1967
What if the arelsburgh branch went up to harwick
1) Watch an NWR1991 episode.
2) I remember watching SLOTLT.
@@reecenewman8308 alright
I bet the twin engines book would be called Donald the Scottish engine.
Or Donald The Goods Engine
6:41 wouldn't it make more sence if it was a C1 Atlantic that he wanted?
These were good theories
I do wish that the S&M survived. Or at least for Neil to still be around.
Here is one what if Christopher Awdry made his other cancelled books.
6:23 also sir topham hatt and more people could buy out the NWR
How would be the engine to replace Edward if he got Preserved
Probably be another BR Class 28 diesel like CoBo (BoCo's brother).
Tail lamp Studios, qual é o nome da música/tail lamp Studios, what is the name of the music
Does anyone else find it funny that the toby what if is number 7 which is Toby's number too?
What if Thomas was a J50 ? How those details could change the lore?
I've noticed on the original Awdry map and various edits of said map by fans that there is an abandoned railway at the northern most end of Sodor that once ran from Harwick, past some smaller towns and eventually to a mine. My question is why the NWR hasn't expanded out that way and use most of the old ROW and what's the story with that abandoned line?
It was a horse drawn railway, closed around the second world war
My RWS Harwick Branch.
Arlesburgh West x Harbour, bridge over river Arle, past Castle Arle, Engine sheds & goods yard.
Past a lighthouse, thrue a rocky terrain into Clagh Oorye station.
Past the north coast of sodor $ Lifeboat station into Harwick station. Plus a extention and loop at Ballaswein.
So what do you think
You mean the cronk and harwick railway
What if the Mid Sodor Railway never closed?
You would have to hired for Mattel creation headquarters to make up with a new idea.
Idea: What if Oliver was never found
Wooooooooooo yeah baby
Thomas is older than Gordon in build year of their class
What if "Barry" actually made it into the railway series
I think EVERYONE wishes that had happened!
If that were to happen, then would there be any effect?
Oh! I Got a good one. What if STH bought The Flying Scotman instead of Gordon?
Gordon probably would've been scraped, cuz his whole class met the same fate, and Gordon was just like them
Gordon gains another tender and travels the US
I imagine that, if the NWR engines did at least have to wear BR liveries and numbers, the bigger engines would not take it so well.
______
*GORDON (in BR passenger blue, **#54004**):* I look ridiculous! This is not the proper shade of blue to befit a grand express engine! Disgraceful!
______
*HENRY (in BR lined black, **#54003**):* Lucky Gordon gets to keep his blue paint. I look like I've been dipped in ink with this ugly black colour. How unimaginative, despicable and lazy! You cannot apply a few brushstrokes and call it paintwork.
______
*JAMES (in BR lined black, **#54005**):* Taking away my splendid red paint is one thing, but having the gall to colour me black is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I look like I've been splashed by a hundred tar wagons! I would rather be painted blue!
James' black livery in that scenario would seem too familiar to him.
Reply to this comment if you have a what-if question (not just for the rws but for the entire franchise) and i'll answer it
What if Henry had been A C1 atlantic?
What if the duck was a diesel? (very, VERY strange idea).
@@theflyingkipper42 He answered that
@@theflyingkipper42 Then duck would be the engine on trial instead of diesel and (assuming ducks character traits don't change) he would be bought. Also what diesel class. I'm assuming an 08
@@Empireofignorance7817 nice
Love this
If the SKR closed, I feel like it would have been preserved later on, say the 1960s.
Good video! 👏👏, and don't think of this as a goodbye think of it as..See you next time :)
What if
Godred never fell off the mountain
The mid sodor never closed
Thomas was a j50
Peter Sam and Sir Handel were scrapped
Duke was never found
Edward died in Edward's exploit
Both D199 and Bear were sent away
This is awsome
I have a what if. The engien were biuld by the Railway him self.
Whould all arrivel in the 1940s and preserve the S&MR. The W&SR
And the TKER.
To be more clear, the Tidmouth Knaford Elsbrigh railway
You fucking savages! How dare you scrap British Steam Trains!
What if Al the engines are experimental?
What If Book No.22 Was About Rebecca The Yellow Engine Then Small Engines Would Be Still In The CGI Series
Question. Is your Intro supposed to be a reference to the Season 4 (I think?) Episode "Fish"?
What if there was never a drawbridge to the mainland?
Thomas wouldn't have to jump in the great race movie.
@@theflyingkipper42 😑
What if Thomas was actually a J50
What if Thomas was a J50?
What if?
Guys here is my question
1.) What if Henry was a C1 Atlantic and never bricked up in a tunnel
Hmmmmm, not a bad idea
I have two more.
What if Thomas was a j50?
What if James never crashed?
1)Nothing but the design would change.
2)Thomas wouldn't have had his own line and no coaches. James would have remained black and with unsafe brakes.
@@theflyingkipper42honestly the brakes would of caught fire in some shape or form
I wanted an Atlantic!
And not this
what if Thomas wasn't number one and the same way the engines arrived depended on their number??😮
what if thomas was an e2
He is a e2
