I just watched Season 2. I can honestly say it's one of the best seasons I have watched in a long time. As Rufus said, the conflict in this season is superb and such a joy to watch. As for the last two episodes. Wow. Uber Gut.
IDK but Ovengrupenfuhurer reminds me so much of Ceasar from the series "ROME" not just looks but attitude and personality, feared by enemies but respected by his soldiers
Him and Goertzmann basically arranged to kill Himmler and the other nazi officials, and agreed to turn the European and American Reichs into 2 autonomous "nations" with their own führer. Would've made for a great season 5 if amazon wasn't killing the show in the middle of season 4
Before seeing the series I never thought my favorite character would be an occupier. Nazism was an extremely evil idealogy that I would never agree with. But unlike Red Dawn of the 1980s the occupiers were portrayed with a human side instead of machines.
His look is so intense and intimidating yet captivating at the same time, like he has control over the room he's in. Then again he plays Obergruppenfuhrer Smith so his look fits the character really well.
Smith is like a Mafia man - kinda like Tony Soprano - he'll do whatever it takes to protect his family, and siding with the Nazi's was simply the safest way to live.
Someone111ify My theory. The Smiths will become delusional after Thomas gets taken away. The faith and loyalty for the Reich either tested or shattered. It wouldn't be far fetch if this causes them to switch
I just finished binge watching the whole season 2 of The Man In The High Castle and I absolutely loved it! Bravo Rufus! I loved your character and you played him well! I hope there's a season 3 in the making. :)
I really want to find a clip of that scene where obergruppenführer smith throws the baseball to his son. I knew right then Rufus wasn't an American.... In my defense I didn't know his name was Rufus at the time either.
This guy intimidates the hell out of me. I know he is just acting, but I guess he is so good, that’s it’s scary. Or is he acting now and the scary guy is who he really is?? Hmm
I REALLY loved season 1 and even more season 2, which doesn't usually happen with these types of series sometimes they faceplant, but this interview is basically what I've always wanted Rufus to say, I imagined the character always two steps ahead, this just confirms it! God damn! Best series ever! How can this be so good??
Obergruppenfurher Smith is my favorite character in the series. He is cold and ruthless but is a family man willing to give whatever it takes for his family. He will become a part of the resistance in the next series. He is not a villian but the main good guy, Amazon is just making us wait.
@@astroworks9697 I made the comment before the last season. I was expecting Smith to turn around and become a part of the resistance, but he turned even more evil in the last season.
@@OutboundShane Before S4, the actors had more input into their characters/portrayal. S4 writers deliberately refused to listen to Rufus abt Smith and went their own way. He said so in an interview called "An Actor Despairs," which is here on YT. He says he lost the battle. You could tell he was not pleased with S4 outcome either.
Kids in Britain grow up playing with American accents, lol. He's talked about it before. But even so, I think he has a very good ear. Watch him in a series called Eleventh Hour, which he did several years ago. He uses his American accent there too. He's pretty incredible.
I never realize how much he can emote through his eyes wow
his eyes alone are intimidating
He is extraordinary
His eyes got him every job he's had
His eyes are so mysteriously cold, like a wolf waiting for its prey.
KuPoMoMo yeah i think they make him very interesting
Agreed! He’s for sure my favorite character on that show.
Twist:
he is the real obergruppenfuhrer of the underground reich

"Ich spreche deutsch" 😂😂😂
I love Rufus's performance as John Smith. A very memorable character.
In the show, he speaks with american accent
but he speaks with the british here (?)
john smith is a total badass and so damn cool btw
Rufus is a Brit in real life.
He lives is L.A. so that's why his American accent is so good.
His voice...i would never expect to hear this voice come from him. lol Especially after watching him as John Smith.
I’m rewatching the series and omg did not expect the change in voice. I only know him as John Smith. Rufus Sewell Great actor 👏

This guy is a great actor
0:50 I lost it when I heard his British accent. I read a comment about his "American accent" right before and was like "wut"... Haha!

I honestly think if I saw this guy in the street I would instinctually be terrified.
Before seeing the series I never thought my favorite character would be an occupier. Nazism was an extremely evil idealogy that I would never agree with. But unlike Red Dawn of the 1980s the occupiers were portrayed with a human side instead of machines.
"Your Father's a traitor, Joe"
This guy does a terrible Obergruppenführer Smith impression.
Roman Barna true that
I like this guy. He seems very approachable and genuinely invested and interested in his role.
Side note: His American accent is very good. haha
Right?! I would have loved to meet him at Comic Con.
His look is so intense and intimidating yet captivating at the same time, like he has control over the room he's in. Then again he plays Obergruppenfuhrer Smith so his look fits the character really well.
This guy nailed it good acting
@mr bottlespuller correct
i'm so curious to know what happened to him from being a US soldier and switching sides!!!!!
Growing up poor, his wife being pregnant, witnessing Washington D.C. being nuked, that probably made him switch sides.
Smith is like a Mafia man - kinda like Tony Soprano - he'll do whatever it takes to protect his family, and siding with the Nazi's was simply the safest way to live.
mace085 I hope he switches back at some point and joins the resistance as a US army soldier
Mr MadMax Then what about his daughters?

He is English? i would never have figured that out by watching the series
I know, he's such a phenomenal actor.
What a hottie! Great actor too.
Underrated actor, the best character by far in this series and he was very good in Dark City as well.
YES!!!!
WTF his accent?? He sounds so American in the series!
well, he's British
It's called acting mate
I guess you're praising him. :)
Joe Vasicek its freaky as hell, most actors we see on tv are actually British.
He sounded almost like a Yankee from the East Coast in the series.
Wait…He's british?!!!
My god Rufus is absolutely gorgeous xxxx
"ich spreche deutsch" Like a boss!!! :D
I just finished binge watching the whole season 2 of The Man In The High Castle and I absolutely loved it! Bravo Rufus! I loved your character and you played him well! I hope there's a season 3 in the making. :)
Mizz Jojo He is my favorite character in the series as well, and yes they have been working on season 3 and it should be released sometimes this year
Phenomenal actor and an incredibly compelling character. By far my favorite on the series.
Haha, his face when the moderator said she can speak german xD
He's such a great actor. Also amazing body language. He and Alexa Davalos are the true pilots of the show. Wonderful characters
I really want to find a clip of that scene where obergruppenführer smith throws the baseball to his son. I knew right then Rufus wasn't an American.... In my defense I didn't know his name was Rufus at the time either.
Which season/episode?
Liam Anderson it's the later part season 1 when Joe was at John's house. It might be 6

say 20 times obergruppenführer as fast as possible
too easy lol
Obagupafaah

No sorry lol

My favourite actor in the show
im so sorry for this guys, but he reminds me of Ted bundy, I DONT KNOW WHY, RE JUST DOES.
😮 oh noooo please
The ending sucked!
How tf did he pull off that accent

i never imagined him having an accent woahh 🤨
Rufus Sewell would be the PERFECT Victor Von Doom.
Only an American can mess up 3 words...IK SpReKe DeUtScH
He looks like Renee Belloc
His body language after her initial question about exploring the character was interesting.. clearly he was not impressed...
Such an amazing feat in this role
Cat😍
HE'S BRITISH?!?!
Halfway. His father was an Aussie, lol.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
