    I enjoyed watching this video. My father Peter R. Adams Major R.A. Retd. was I believe the last civil defence officer of Stoke Newington, later Hackney. In my study I have a photograph of my mother being lowered from the roof of the manor house in Clissold Park during a civil defence exercise around 1960.

    Fantastic video, thanks for posting, with the telephones PW = private wire which was an analogue point to point connection in this case from the council bunker to the police.

    My grandad was part of the team that applied the camouflage to the facia in 1939.
