Thank you for the lap, Misha! I shall be back with the next round of mods, I'm totally addicted now. 😅 FYI, the clunk is due to solid Delrin track control arm bushings, great performance, but the side effect is that they can knock in certain situations. The rear subframe has solid bushings and the chassis has been reinforced, shock rebound still needs tweaking as well as proper track wheel alignment. Thank you for the nice comments!
@@marcelh732 I had that, they are pretty bad for track and very dusty - they don't last long either. I used Ferodo DS2000 and I was very happy with them, plenty of braking force and really hard to overheat.
Great driver with a great mechanic.. what possibly could go wrong ? beside Sreten needs to know where to improve & set things he did on his car.. Best way to do it : let Misha drive a couple of laps he will tell exactly what to change next or what is wrong on the car.. i can't wait to see more of them..
You two guys should have a TH-cam channel together! Sreten restoring BMWs, Misha with Sreten modifying same BMW to a track specific car. That would be awesome. You two guys belongs together!
@J_Renstrom. Not really. Each is good at what he does and with his own channel and precisely having one or the other as a guest at least for 1 - 2 episodes per year makes it interesting. A channel together does not sound that original, nor very interesting either. The way they do it, like having eachother as guests is the most appealing thing.
Best crossover ever. M539 and Project Cologne are the TH-camr and the car that got me interested in cars and things mechanical, fantastic to see it fly!
The idea of a comfortable and practical daily driver car like this being also a capable track machine is my favorite. Fast wagons are some of the coolest road machines.
I'm glad this happened! I was really disappointed when Sreten visited a few weeks ago but couldn't do a lap. As others said, I wish to see more collabs from you two in the near future. Maybe a lap with E60 M5? Or E92 M3? Or even the Quattroporte GTS?
I last did a few laps of the ting in 2009. I had a professional driver next to me giving guidance. I'll never forget his advice at one corner "don't lift, don't lift, take a brave pill" Best advice ever 😃
You two are my favourites both just chatting away & on track together. Throughly enjoy both your channels & the restoration that’s gone into this Touring is fabulous. Thank you for the uploads lads 🙃
Lol "Oehhhh the brakes and tires are smelling" - "Very good, we used them.". Great video, great lads. Very wise to use hand gloves. Hands and/or fingers can go,... any.. where ;-)
While I'm not particularly a BMW guy I can definitely appreciate all the different performance models they make , it really makes it possible to make some cool sleeper vehicles like this, being able to bolt on the performance parts from the M cars on the regular looking models is exactly the types of builds I like, doesn't necessarily look fast, but will surprise the shit out of you on the track.
You also have the classic M thunk, maybe Sreten needs to do a differential rebuild and backlash check. As he said he's going to do it anyway I think the issue will be solved.
@@J03130 I meant a longer time like lets say 2+ years, I've been watching since the project Raleigh e60 M5 and for a long time has was OE or OEM parts only, so it's the Nurburgring that changed him into the world of modifying haha
Sreten's channell is one of my all time favorites..I mean I find myselflooking to see if he's published any new videos, and when there is, everything else is cancelled, I get my popcorn and off to bliss car restoring.
Misha- Makes sense with the gloves. I was a valet for a while during college and I always wore gloves (not racing gloves obviously..lol). Im not really a germ-freak or anything, but some peoples cars can be gross/sticky. I do wear racing gloves on the track, which does help grip the wheel better. Also, love the crossover content with M539!
Ah that explains why I didn't see you; the cameras weren't on you! I locked-in on the main feed and Jimmy's at the end before they called-it. Excellent job.
I love it how after the carrousel you saw the green porsche behind you and from that point it was game on! Wonderful driving and a great car! Keep it up man
Sreten still providing value to his viewers through Misha. The car is a realistic race/street car that majority of us can relate to. He didn't just go and spend 100k on a super race car. Misha, as always, confident and in his element.
@@eternalextrapolations There's absolutely nothing wrong with the rear end. Mistakes can, of course, happen during installation, but I triple-checked everything when installing and torqued everything to BMW spec. I didn't rush a single thing on this build. Even so, I had it on the lift after several more laps to check again, and it's all tight. There is no room for arrogance when it comes to driving on the Ring.
@@M539Restorations How many times have we all overlooked something so simple because we were looking for something complicated? Then we wonder how we could have been so blind, because it's usually staring us right in the face, and our oversight is embarrasing. We've all installed things upside down or back to front or on the left instead of right. Oftentimes, we use as a guide what's already been done by the last guy, but the last guy installed it wrong. Quite often the installation instructions are wrong. If something's clunking, then it's free to move when it shouldn't. Many times it all looks right on the lift, but the parts look different under compression than expansion. Quintuple-check.
@@eternalextrapolations I agree, it can and has happened in the past, we are only human. The clunk is coming from the solid Delrin control arm bushings in the front, it's just a side-effect and nothing to worry about as they otherwise perform brilliantly. I can guarantee that the rear end is as tight as it gets, the shock rebound in the rear is likely incorrect and needs more tweaking. I am checking safety things 10 times, using the car on the Ring at high speeds is not a joke and I'm not taking any risks. Cheers.
Regarding the rear wanting to go a different direction under compression could be the bushes were tightened not under the vehicles weight. Bushings need to be "clocked" or "timed"
Just had a e46 330i sedan in the workshop. The Michelin ps5 make the car feel loose in the back. They have too less side stiffness. Really feels like if the rear axle is loose under the car. My customer also wouldn’t believe me. We put other tyres under the car and it drove wonderfully. There are a lot more people who experienced the same with Michelin pilot sport tyres on a bmw.

Honestly after visiting Sreten's channel, I've been glued to his videos. Just soo interesting and informative and involving!
It's the way he delivers that information. Calm, composed and with certainty.

Just so precise, accurate and organized with everything you do!
